Came in for a pedicure. I was confused they just said sign in and I picked a color. No one told me where to find the color I had to figure it out. I found the one station by the door, later I noticed perhaps there was more. Picked my color from the sparse selection I randomly found and awkwardly stood there. The owner screamed sit down at a pedicure chairs as if I knew I was supposed to sit down. I sat down and proceeded to wait. Dum de dum wait and wait apparently I was to read minds and know there was a wait. Finally one of the two ladies started on my pedicure. I "upgraded" for $5 for special treatment callous. It was just the use of the cheese grater on your callous which is free with any other place and wax on the heals that they only left on for 1 minute made no difference. I mean I guess if I was in a pinch, I would go back but not willingly - just if I had no choice, like I did today, no choice I am going on vacation and I needed it done while the kids went shopping. The person working in my nails was nice, I guess, said less than 10 words to me - thanks for waiting, thank you, ok bye. I usually do everything all by myself but this time I wanted to please myself and have someone else do it. that please charge me $113 in total, when I asked the lady why is it 113? She said the dip full set It's $55 and the fact that she shape it like a coffin it's five dollar extra and a long nails for five dollar more . I also included a picture so we can see the long nails. my toes were $33 plus the gel is 15 so in total is 113. why would I pay 113 for that? the next day which is today I'm trying to open a soda my thumbnails broke and when I went back for them to fix it, they said I have to pay an extra $10. I wish I read the reviews before coming. They definitely overcharged me for my acrylic full set. I got the $49 pedicure to be nice (since the place was dead ) and then they charged me $80 for my full set. They're reasoning was that they charge extra to cut cuticles now typically I always tip so I would have been okay with the overcharge BUT the lady did my full set was being rough with my hands. She clipped me a few times with the filer and didn't even apologize. She kept forcing my hand into angles instead of twisting gently. I rarely ever write reviews but first off rip off. It does not cost $40 to file my gel off, file down my acrylics because it was uneven to put gel back on. Let me remind you this is spur of the moment. My nail lady was busy and I melted about 3cm of my nails from grilling food. My nails aren't even quality. Her filing is a mess. Crooked of course but I knew. She didn't even remove every bit of color properly. It is just to get by because I have a wedding to attend today: I even used bubble bath as a color because I already knew it was going to be a mess. She didn't even want to give me a 3rd coat. My friend and I came today to do gel manicure- they told us it would take 15 minutes before they can work on us.. it has been an hour and no one even approached us.. we asked them to put the foil to remove the gel.. and they kept accepting other customers not worrying that people are sitting and waiting.. when we decided to leave the So called manager.. stormed at us.. flushing red and upset .. because we decided to leave.. when I said you should at least apologize for the wait.. she said we were not nice customers.. BUYER BEWARE!!! STAY AWAY FROM MICHAEL'S PLACE!!!! I went to this nail salon out of desperation. It was the Wednesday before Easter, my FANTASTIC salon was booked solid (Nails & Spa in Braintree - 781-848-1756) & I was way overdue for a gel fill. I went in and was greeted by manager Kathy. I told her I wanted a gel fill, which was clearly listed on their pricing board at $28. Once my fill was complete, I left a generous $7 tip at Kathy's station and proceeded to the register where I was charged a whopping $38 for the service. I protested at the register, pointing to their pricing sign. I was told that the gel fill is $28 but since they used GEL, it was additional. Does that make sense to anyone else?! Anyway, I paid the $38. I left the $7 tip at Kathy's station so I wouldn't look like a jerk taking it back. Boy, I wish I did. Three days later, it's Saturday. Guess what - 4 of my 10 fingernails are chipping. And not even a little chipping on the edge of the nail. Considering I paid what I consider to be a ridiculous amount of money, I went back Saturday morning (today). When I went in, I asked an associate what the price of a gel fill is. She replied with $35, which is $3 less than what Kathy charged me 3 days ago. Obviously, they just make up the price based of what designer bag you're carrying. They know what you can and cannot afford. Again, Kathy came to the desk. I showed her my nails & told her I wanted a refund. She told me I was upset about the price from the get-go, intentionally chipped my nails and that she would not give me a refund. Needless to say, we got into it and she called mall security on me. In her defense, she did offer to fix my nails, but I don't want them fixed if I'll only have to return in 3 days to have half of them fixed again. This service was terrible. There is no sign at her store that says "No Refunds." Mall security told her to give me the contact information for the store owner, which she refused to do. Instead of resolving this issue with a simple refund, she has opened the flood gates of bad reviews. I hope this helps other Yelpers. I have also filed a complaint with Guest Services at the South Shore Plaza and will do everything in my power to warn potential customers of your poor business practices. LONG REVIEW WARNING. I have been thinking about how to review this place recently after my recent visit as of yesterday. I normally have very good experiences here but always forget to check in or even review because they're okay, plus I don't like using my phone when I'm getting my nails done. However, the visit before my prior was not good and the whole manicure was ruined by a bubbly top coat. I am aware that they have a no refund policy, but I didn't want to go back in because having someone redo a whole set of nails means I'm taking time from another whole paid manicure that the tech could have done. I don't tend to get things fixed because If I were a tech I wouldn't want to keep having to fix things and not get paid for it so, I did post pictures on yelp, but didn't review. I believe I even started a review but ended up just letting it go, Yesterday, I went in an was originally going to get the Infinite Shine colors for my manicure as the colors last forever and they don't chip as much. Plus they have a luscious shine even without top coat. I have the whole set at home but am just too lazy to do it myself at times. So I went in and the after the initial cleaning and prepping of my nails after I washed my hands and went back to my seat, the manager came and greeted me by name. I was surprised as to how she knew, but I just brushed it off because I do tend to go here often. She told me that last time the top coat wasn't good and she just checked the bottle to make sure it wasn't bubbly and everything, which was nice and friendly. I however changed my mind and decided to just get white French tips. So she was okay with that, My tech was sweet and very kind, but she forgot to put the base coat on before the white layers. I didn't mind honestly, it's okay for me. Nail polish doesn't last long anyway so it's fine. However the manager sat right next to me and told her that she messed up. She said it in Vietnamese and I told her that it was okay. Honestly, I felt bad when she told my tech to redo it again, but in the end she did. My tech was extremely patient and took her time to do my nails, I felt it was because there was not as many people there and because the manager did recognize me from yelp. Although my nails were given much attention, I felt bad for my tech because normally a manicure is around 30 minutes and I was there for almost an hour. I felt as though I took up two manicures so ended up tipping her 100%. I felt sort of uncomfortable because everyone was watching me because I yelped pictures... I really liked my technician if you guys can tell so I didn't want her getting into anymore trouble. As we were leaving the salon, the manager sat and told me that she was sorry for the last time and that they try to take good care of their customers. She told me to let her see my nails and check them. I actually smudged my finger while getting my money out, but I felt so pressured because all the techs were watching me leave so I showed her my unsmudged left hand. Haha . Slick move. Overall, aside from the polish the time before. The techs are usually nice and friendly, sometimes you feel good and sometimes you feel great. You don't leave dissatisfied generally. So I asked her to break it down since a full set says $35 on the menu ... and $10 for gel polish so that's 45-50$ these nails aren't no way even worth or LOOK $95!!!!!! I was horrified!!! She didn't even clean up around the nails they were full of the glue/acrylic and white nail polish around my nails , bleeding, the tips of the nail were all chipped half colored white half not, and she cut me 4 TIMES!!!!!!!! U would think to help me outa f u didn't even clean around them or lotion after or wipe my nails NOTHING. She was the worst nail tech I ever been too especially with her HORRIBLE attitude and her customer service!!! I had a terrible experience at this "salon". The woman who did my manicure could barely speak the English language so I could not communicate what I wanted done. I had to show pictures from online. I wanted a black matte French manicure. I couldn't figure out why the matte wasn't showing up as matte and neither could she. The owner or manager or whoever came over after she mentioned it to her from across the room twice (in her language). The manager was completely unconcerned. I mean, why should I get any actual service, right? She was trying to play it off that since it's gel black matte it isn't going to show up matte. Sense much? The matte showed up once the lady doing my nails rubbed the gel with the solution they use and had a ohhh, aha! moment. I showed the manager as I was leaving and explained and she mumbled, "anything you want..we'll do". Um. OK.. My tips are so sloppy and chunky looking, it seriously looks like a 3rd grader did my nails. She wouldn't let me look at them closer in between UV drying either! I normally don't go to nail salons inside a mall for one reason- overpriced. I came to South Shore Plaza to shop but then saw this and thought to myself #TreatyoSelf! Recently getting another job on top of my full time was definitely calling for a spa night and pampering! As soon as I arrived I was told to choose a color and was seated at the spa for my pedicure. I usually get a regular mani/pedi and almost always get the pedicure packages when the manicurist asks and indeed she did and I said yolo! to additional $17 to a regular $28 spa pedicure. The spa pedicure deluxe came with foot/leg scrub and massages it thoroughly then gets hot towels for your legs and then a stone foot/leg massage (THE best feeling, I could have literally sat there all night!)--total worth the extra $17! My manicure ($15) was alright, I showed a design (the tips to be glittered only) but the manicurist did not know how to do the design that I showed. But it's alright since it was a regular manicure and not gel. She pretty much painted my whole nail with the glitter then went back again on just the tips... but she was nice and very helpful, so I didn't mind it. I would definitely go back here again. She gets up from the foot bowl / cleaning my friends feet and goes to grab my hand to start removing my gel I say something about it... like hello how unsanitary can you get, change your gloves. ) -DONT get a pedicure here they don't even scrub or massage your feet -cuts toenails crooked -I'm sure 2 people there doing nails weren't certified ( I'm a licensed cosmetologist who is qualified & certified to do nails I am just disappointed with sanitation and BASIC manicure procedures ) - DONT get a manicure 1 the girl filed my nails wrong didn't even do what I asked & they don't even clean your nails properly or lotion your hands after you wash them. (Right before I went to wash my hands the girl was cutting my cuticles cutting my nails, filing etc after she finishes she tells me wash my hands I look at my nails and under the free edge (tip) was still dirty so I asked her for the tool to clean underneath and with no "oh I'll clean it for you" she hands me it... I had to clean my own nails smh I might as well painted my nails myself too. After I wash my hands she wipes my hands down with rubbing alcohol and begins painting. Doesn't lotion my hands doesn't even put a base coat. (Sighhhhhhh) just look at the picture attached as well you'll see my disappointment. -not even a week in my nails have a ton of air bubbles & my friend said her nails were all chipped up by day 2 and looked like a dog ate them on day 3. I went here twice. The first time I went I had a woman named Alice who scolded me twice. I did not come to a nail salon to get scolded that is for sure. I was getting my Gel manicure done and it was baking in the UV light machine and she scolded me for turning and looking around the salon and for taking a second and pointing out a color to a neighbor looking for a nice St Patrick's Green color. Then she painted some polish on my skin, so the Gel peeled off a few days later/ The second time i went the lady did a better job it was somebody different. This was the worst nail experience I've ever had. I requested to receive a full set and left with dinosaur claws. All of the nails were crooked and did not fill my whole nail bed. Once I realized that it was not going well, I asked the woman to re-do a few and she commented that she wasn't finished and to be patient. I listened and the nails got worse. The services are very inconsistent. I came here with my friend and we both were getting a pedicure. Her pedicure was shorter because her technician skipped many steps. I initially went for a deluxe pedicure and ended up getting a manicure also along with my eyebrows waxed. I was immediately greeted and serviced once I got there. The deluxe pedicure was decent - the lady scrubbed my feet really well and did a pretty good massage. The hot stone massage also felt really good. I wish I would've just got the pedicure and left because it all went downhill from there. The manicure turned out sloppy - my nails are really short and I got them painted white and it looks like I might as well just have painted them with whiteout. Then, the lady that did my eyebrows was super aggressive and they barely look like they were waxed. Not to mention, when she was done she just said "okay all set" and walked out of the room before I could even get up ... like wtf. At the end when I went to pay the lady at the desk looked at me like I was crazy and I had to explain to her that I was ready to pay and I had to tell her which services I got, which is really unprofessional to me. So, overall, it was nice that I didn't have to wait and I was satisfied with the deluxe pedicure but it sure wasn't worth the horrible customer service especially when there's other salons in that mall. The first time I went here I loved it. It's cheap and super clean and my gels lasted forever! The second time I went my gels chipped after 4 DAYS. I know it was because the older woman, who I think was the owner, rushed the manicure. I even said that I wanted to leave my hands under the lamp for longer so they would last and she wouldn't let me. I went in for a regular old fashioned manicure, I noticed everyone around me was getting paraffin, that nice warm wax that makes your hands so so soft after, and asked how much extra it was. I was shocked to hear that it's FREE !! FREE PARAFFIN ! Also after the paraffin they let your hands sit in a warm towel while they MASSAGE YOUR SHOULDERS AND BACK !!! I was so shocked and pleased. However, when I left i felt like my actual nails didn't look good, there were these like, lines were it made them look as though you put a new color over an old one, if you know what I mean. I don't think I will be coming back here. I have come here quite a bit on a fairly regular basis mainly because of convenience, as it is right in the South Shore Plaza outside of Lord and Taylor; but I've realized I don't exactly feel great leaving here most of the time, there is no part of the service that particularly shines, and so there is no particular reason to come to a place that doesn't make me feel great. Things to know They are PUSHY - When you walk in you will be asked to choose a color. They will AUTOMATICALLY give you the color palettes for the bio seaweed gel polish that is more expensive by $7, and in my opinion does not last as long but is suppose to be healthier for your nails. I will expressly say I want regular gel polish and they will badger you even when you give them a firm no. (And if you don't know this, God help you, because you are getting the biogel...they won't tell you what they are doing). - For a pedicure they will push you to get the deluxe which is much more expensive and not worth the money AT ALL. You basically get a little exfoliating scrub, a minute of hot stones and a two minute massage and they think they can charge you an additional $17. - For waxing services, you will go in and ask for eyebrows, and they will tell you that you need your lip done, etc as well. They do not listen when you say no the first time. Or even the second time. I eventually said yes and it was terrible (painful and very red afterwards), and they didn't apply anything to soothe it after. It was completely embarrassing. They will then start going for your chin, which caused me to be like WTF. Hell no. - I have asked for a second coat of a particularly light color, and they will say it looks fine the way it is. It bugged me the entire time I had it and wished I had been more insistent. They are NOT clean - I can't tell you how many time the employees have answered their phones while either doing my mani or pedi, with their gloves on, which they don't change. Your cell phone is a cesspool of bacteria. You can knick the skin even just a little bit and people can end up with an infection. - I am not entirely sure about their sanitizing process beyond that they put the tools in a UV box - The area is disorganized and unclean - I have little confidence that this place is up to standards With that being said, a few of the staff are friendly and will remember you if you go consistently, which is nice. The vast majority of the time my nails are well done (only one time they clipped my finger and made it bleed). They do not provide refunds, but will fix imperfections which I have had to do once when it chipped after only a few days. I am more often than not, satisfied with the end result based solely on how my nails look. They also have a vast selection of colors. But there are no "little extras" that make this place stand out. There is barely a hand massage after the manicure and they either do paraffin (usually too hot) or a regular moisturizer. Combined with the fact that they are pushy, unclean and fairly expensive, it's not worth it. I guess I am a glutton for punishment to keep returning, but my last visit was the final straw. I should have checked the review before I went to get my manicure. Learned my lesson. I left with my figure bleeding and seems like it's not only happened to me. The staff who cut me was really rude. I stopped her after my finger started to bleeding and she was unhappy and turn her back to me and of course didn't feel sorry for me at all!! Will never go back there. read more

I was an idiot and fell for the the $35 gel manicure that will last for 3 weeks. Do not believe them. It has not been a week and I already have a gel. This place is more expensive than Back Bay for regular gel manicures. So pissed I spent $35. Not coming back here read more
