I've been shopping here since Joan went out of business and have had mostly good experiences until today team member "Ana" was very rude and complained about cutting our fabric to my face saying "you could just wash it but fine" because I asked her to cut off the black smears on the white fabric, while grunting after moving/cutting everything i'm not one to complain, but this was overall bad customer service When she finished cutting it there was still a large black smear on one side and she said "you can just clean that off and if it doesn't come off then complain to the store manager I guess" 5/17/26 around noon. read more

This review is more for corporate than the store employees because they do not make the rules they come from the top. Welcome to 2025- If you go to the website, there are far more bargains and deals on there. If you have an item buy one get 1/2 off online, I do not see why we are not honoring this deal in the store on the same item. Offering buy one get 1/2 off also a 20% off of your purchase on the website and then you walk into a physical store and everything is full price, not a coupon in sight. This is the second time this has happened to me. My phone will not work in this building and you cannot access your Michael's app to get coupons. The cashier was of no help and gave me attitude and acted like it was a one time thing. I miss the days when the cashiers would be nice and scan the coupon for you. this was a very disappointing and frustrating experience. I went in to buy fabric just to find the selection to be extremely limited and outdated. I asked for a yard of each fabric, but when I got home I realized the employee had actually given me what looks like half a yard of each instead. The cuts were also incredibly uneven and jagged some of the worst I've ever seen. It took her well over 10 minutes to cut what was supposed to be 5 yards total of 5 different fabrics , only for it to be half-yards. But rest assured I was still charged for full yards. Very frustrating I'll just stick to hobby lobby from now on better fabric selection and far better quality control! read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Michaels was bad enough that I feel compelled to share it. I was there yesterday to pick up balloons for my daughter's birthday and had a very simple question about balloon inflation. The employee assisting at the self-checkout was extremely rude and unhelpful from the start. I was told they couldn't inflate my balloons, yet I was charged $10 per number balloon, which according to Michaels' website is the inflated price. When I politely asked why the online price was lower if they weren't inflating them, I was told, "I don't care what the website says." The combination of poor customer service, inconsistent pricing, and a dismissive attitude was incredibly frustrating. After reading other reviews, it's clear this is not an isolated incident but a shared experience among customers. Despite living in the neighborhood, this experience was bad enough that I'm reconsidering shopping here altogether and would rather drive farther to a competitor. Service was terrible. Woman helping customers with self check out was rude. I overheard her being rude to another customer having problems and then when I also had an issue I was told to wait. It was more important to her to walk some stuff to the return basket then help me. I left my purchases and walked out. Selection is terrible there and more expensive than anywhere else. They post sale signs but when you go to check out you find the things aren't really on sale. The ribbon that rung up $25 there I was able to get at Hobby lobby on sale for $5.98. It's just bothersome how many times I try to go in I get panhandled by the un housed people hanging outside of the store. My husband doesn't care to shop for yarn so I'm usually by myself. So I was at the Michael's at 2200 W Memorial Rd in the Quail Springs Marketplace in Oklahoma City, Ok this morning approximately 30 minutes after the store opened for the day. Well, nature urgently called, and I needed to answer. I got into a stall, the humongous TP roll was just laying on top of the grab bar. I had to wipe the seat & rim, before I could make use of the stool. Once I had completed my task, I noticed the plunger in the corner, on the floor, behind the stool. It was covered in some type of brown substance, which had the floor badly stained as well. After washing my hand, there were No paper towels in the dispenser! I checked the daily sheet on the back of the door, and someone had initialed the "pre opening". I attempted to call the corporate office four times throughout the day today, each time I was in queue for over 30 minutes and the recording occasionally came on and said hold time was 10 minutes, then it was 5 minutes, then 20 minutes each time I called. Since I got no response from the calls, I resorted to chat with a live agent. It was estimated 18 minutes before an agent would b available. After wai another 2 minutes, I got a message saying that "Your session has expired due to inactivity". So needless to say, no more shopping Michael's in the future. read more

Went to Michael's the other evening to get balloons. They were very helpful. I called first to make sure they had the balloons I needed. They filled them up with helium when I got there. It was extremely windy that evening, and my son opened the car door and two of the balloons blew away. I went back up to Michael's to get two more balloons. I was fully prepared to pay to replace them, because it was not their fault that they blew away. They replaced them for me with no charge. That was so nice!!! I feel like no other place would have done that. 10/10 experience and customer service! read more

I usually don't leave reviews but todays experience was unsettling for me. This was the first time I've ever had an experience like this at what was once my favorite craft store. I don't recall having experienced such hostility from a cashier at the SELF CHECK OUT. Mind you I'm coming out of a long day at work and just needed a gesso and some paints for a new project and was also on a phone call. when all of a sudden this cashier lady working around 3:30-4pm was quite literally on my back checking and kept stating that you "didnt have coupons online and that it's the lowest prices of the season" like ma'am you are hovering over me meanwhile I'm trying to redownload my Michael's app to redeem any cash vouchers I may have and all im getting is nothing but comments from her. If I wanted to talk to her I would've went to her register but I did not. I went to the self check out... meanwhile the older white woman besides me is taking about the same time and was told nothing nor was not talked to the same way I wasz I also had THREE things.. and nothing but my wallet on me where would I even hide anything... I'm thrilled they are open. Having something to do during quarantine is a MUST! So my friend is making masks. So we go shopping. I am impressed. They have what I need, along with almost everything she needs. I mean, ALL the fabric is sold out, but that's not their fault. I have to even state that they are not a fabric store but a craft store. I was looking for a craft item and they had it. I also saw a ton of knitting needles, which I haven't done in years but I've been thinking of starting up again. I'm not crafty. I really want to be, and sometimes fancy myself a crafty person. I never think of anything new, but once in a while I can rip something off from Etsy, but it usually requires multiple tries, thus multiple trips to Michael's. Also, I'm always a bit baffled by this joint. I don't know who does their buying, but they clearly aren't paying attention to the interwebz. My friends and I have projects from Pinterest or Etsy we'd like to try our hands at, but you walk into Michael's, and with the exception of an overpriced Martha Stewart section, the place hasn't changed since 1987. Silk flowers and wreath bases, dollhouse furniture and puff paint. Don't get me wrong, I love the nostalgia that a wall of puff paint affords. But I'm not buying any, and I don't know who is. The staff is helpful, there just aren't many of them so you have to track someone down if you need help finding, say, raffia. (Raffia Rant: What is it? Why is it so hard to find? Isn't raffia one of those things you sort of have to have in ample supply at a craft shop? Like sort of a basic requirement of being able to call yourself a craft store? Seems to happen every time I try to find raffia). You just have to watch out. Some things are very affordable, and the specials can be great. But if you're not paying attention, you could easily pay $8.99 for a pad of construction paper you would have assumed costs $2. But, you can get a giant tub of sidewalk chalk for $2.50 if you're paying attention. Convenient location, ample parking, a teacher's discount, etc., make it a perfectly fine little craft store, and they don't try and make money selling bible slogan stuff like Lobby Hobby. read more

I walked into the Michaels store on Northwest 50th and May through the exit tonight, at 8:25 PM, when the store closes at 9 PM. Why did I walk in through the exit? Because the entrance had been blocked by a wheelchair. Odd, but OK. As I'm walking through the store to find my items, I can hear two ladies at the cash register talking. Or shall I say, only one was actually doing the talking. The one who said, How did she get in here? I blocked the entrance! The store closes in 35 minutes! But she doesn't stop there. She asks the other girl, how many people are still in here? The girl answers, three or four, I think. As people check out, the other lady announces, one down, three to go. Two down, two to go... if I could give a negative number I would of. standing in line with two people in front of me. one cashier just left left to take out poster board to someone car as their greeter watched. second one talked to the person in front of me for 15 minutes about the 4 items purchased they were making. I have sciatica and in so much pain to just walk is excruciating to stand for 20 minutes is ridiculous. I was going to buy $1500 500 Home depot 500 bass pro shop and 500 michaels. Xmas gifts would have been done. with gift cards. will not be back. hopefully Hobby lobby has better customer service. Made it though Walmart and target with less of a wait and twice as many people. I'm with Julie S. on every single point she made -- seriously. This place is a bit of a time warp, to say the least. (Seriously -- who the hell is buying giant blocks of Styrofoam and Technicolor "silk" flowers these days? One has to wonder. I'm all in favor of repurposing stuff within reason, but this place is less Etsy on a good day and more Southern Baptist Vacation Bible School in 1977.) I go here on the rare occasion that I need a fixative of some sort (e.g., airplane epoxy, etc.), else one single skein of yarn. (I sometimes use yarn for one particular job, and a single skein has been known to last me four years, for Pete's sake.) The staff is friendly enough in this time warp, though, and the store's clean and well lighted. The aisles are well organized. A clean, well lighted time warp with classes for tired, middle aged white women who want to learn how to learn how to sew google eyes onto knitted yarn penis cozies, to make throw pillows with cute kitten fabric, to decorate everything from cakes to sofas with fondant, and (of course) to learn how to arrange Day-Glo colored "silk" roses in a vase shaped like Uruguay. Very nice place, I reckon, if making yarn dolls with Styrofoam heads and yarn bodies is your cup of tea. read more

What do you do when Hobby Lobby is closed on Sunday? Say "Hello" to Michaels! Personally, I'm more of a Michaels fan anyways because I grew up leafing through their Sunday ads. Way back in the day I used to do a lot of artsy fartsy stuff as a Girl Scout. Fast forward to present day and I'm here doing little projects for work and DIY wedding stuff. Normally I'd scour the net for craft supplies, but going to Michaels is so much easier. The level of organization is on point, but sometimes I have a hard time finding things that were once at a certain spot. You can find virtually everything you need in a variety of brands. The only thing they lack is fabric and all those Simplicity patterns. I'd go to a Joann's for that. Even creatively challenged folks can channel their inner Martha Stewart by attending one of their many classes. Learn how to decorate a cake or crochet like a pro. read more

I have only been to this Michael's 2-3 times, including today. I have yet to find what I need when I go to this location, as opposed to the Norman location where I almost always find what I need in stock. Today, I sat and waited until the doors opened, and when I went in, of course they didn't have what I needed. So I went to look for some silk flowers that I'd seen at Norman before. Well, there were only 2 outer rows of the 4 available to peruse. The third row was completely empty waiting for new inventory, and the row across from it was full of flowers but completely blocked by this huge stack of boxes. Now I understand having to bring in new shipments and they have to go somewhere until unpacked, but people, there was AMPLE room in the middle of the floor when you first walk in to place all these boxes. At least leave your items accessible, or you're defeating the purpose! I'm a small person and there's no way I could have squeezed in between the boxes to get to what I needed...I even tried. Sorry, Michael's on May, but 3 strikes and you're out. You've lost my business at this location. read more

I would love life if Katia, in the Framing Department, could take care of me at every store I shop!! I am not a crafty person, so this store scares me. I told Katia I needed four shadow boxes for veteran awards...she owned the task from there...I only paid $22.00 for the boxes, she cut the sponge-like backing to make install easier and picked out the tacks. Michael's, at this location, is now my go-to store for all framing and craft needs. read more

When I walked into Michael's I was greeted quickly and asked if I needed help finding anything. I was given perfect directions on how to find the item I was looking for. I then wandered the store and found a couple other items I liked. When I got to the register to pay one of the items was missing a price tag. The cashier went to find a new one, but brought back one that was much bigger than the one that I had. She started to just ring the larger one up. I told her that's not what I wanted and she seemed so put out that I didn't want the larger item. She said "Well if you want to go get one with a price tag, that would really help me do my job." ... oh ok. When I got back from going to the very back of the store, everyone in line was still waiitng on me and pretty upset with me. I pulled my phone out to have her scan my 50% off one item coupon. She saw the coupon but the bar code wouldn't pull up, so she wouldn't honor it, even though I watched her scan other's phones ahead of me. So, she obviously doesn't need to be able to put the coupon in her drawer. She wouldn't call for help or even ask if she could honor it. I wasn't happy with the service but they did have exactly what I was looking for. From now on if I go to Michael's cause I have a coupon, I will make sure to print it out. read more

My girlfriend and I visited this location tonight to find some stuff to make our daughters Halloween costume. The store itself is just your basic michaels store, it was the staff itself that made it five stars. We had to find some really random items to make the costume so we found someone that works there, her name was Judy. She not only did she help us multiple times to find the items, but she was extremely pleasant. She made us feel like we weren't a bother at all and that she was happy to help. There was another team member that helped me find a foam head form as well but I didn't get to see her name tag. But she was also equally nice and very helpful. Michael's is pretty much the only craft store I go to. They always have coupons varying from 50% off one item to 25% off your entire purchase, etc. This is a great place to buy picture frames! I also have bought yarn here a few times as well. The employees are extremely rude if you are trying to shop in the morning when they're merchandising a section. They will ignore you and not offer to let you through to grab what you need. I had to give my items to the cashier in the front to hold and will have to come back later when hopefully they'll be done because the employees SNAPPED at me when I politely asked if they had an estimate of when they would be done. I shouldn't have to be treated such a way while trying to shop a store at 10:30 in the morning. I understand being busy, but I'm just trying to buy what I need.
