She dry mounted a map I had previously purchased online, and helped me pick out the appropriate push pin size. I recently needed abalone for this particular project, and thankfully they had it, and the right size too! Their selection of holiday stuff is always fun to browse, despite never being able to afford it, but they do run sales often! I love that there's basically always a coupon code somewhere online. They carry the best self drying clay and sculpey, and they have a fabulous selection of cheap acrylic paints! A couple hundred dollar job and I cannot get anyone to go through numbers with me even though I know the exact dimensions of the frame I want. Michaels is my go to new favorite place. I've been using arts and crafts as an escape rather than how I normally de-stress (aka going out drinking). Every time I go, it's so organized and clean. The customer service is excellent! Today I had a representative asked me if I needed help, which I did not but he made small talk with me and said "look, we are kind of slow so if there's anything I can help you with please let me know." I thought that was very kind. They are also very inquisitive and often ask you during check out what you are making. Though I was slightly embarrassed the last time I was asked, it does make you feel special because of what you are doing and what you are creating. And that is the purpose to create art, however and by what ever method you so choose. I definitely recommend signing up to become a Michaels rewards member. You can redeem special deals and coupons just by punching in your phone number, and Michael's runs so many different specials and coupons, you can save a lot of money by strategizing your shopping trips. Still a fan of this Michaels, but I have not completely abandoned the Elmwood Michaels since I feel the farther location stocks more seasonal supplies and has more fun sale items. I've had a number of items framed at this location with the ridiculous 60% off 20% sale coupon that comes out a couple of times a year, which I have no idea how they factor. There's a gal there (can't remember her name) that is really helpful that will also help you make decisions if your texts are seemingly going into a blackhole instead of to your fellow decision makers. They can also show you what your print will look like with the mat and frame on their computer. They'll call when it's ready. With the coupon the price seems to still run between $150 - $400 (with multiple mats), but I've never been to a professional framing shop to know otherwise. Just ask them what the colored tabs on the frames mean price-wise so you don't end up pulling one of the more expensive ones and double check what the coupon covers. Other than that, I really enjoy some of the stationary they have going on right now including palms and flamingos, and scooped up some goodies with the 25% off entire cart including sale items, what-what? Can you tell I'm a sucker for some Michael's coupons? The store is well stocked and always clean and has a nice bakers section and a nice selection of paints and kid's crafts. The coloring books are very nice. What keeps me from giving more stars is that I'm new in town. I've been living in a city that only had a Hobby Lobby and I knew how to work the e-coupons. Here, I didn't bother to see if they did until I had already checked out and the woman behind me whipped out her iPhone. They were running a 40% off one regular priced item and 25% off entire purchase. I ended up coming back that same day to pick up a few things I was more certain about wanting and by then had wizened up. This is a pretty typical Michael's: they have arts and crafty things of all types. I usually buy colored markers and educational toys for kids, whenever I find myself invited to a kid's party. The games and craft things that they have for kids are not just fun, but educational as well and you are sure to find something for a child of any age. On this particular trip I stopped in because I am currently shopping around for a Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 camera (say that 5 times fast), which is an instant film camera- basically a Polaroid camera (everything old is new again). I had heard that they carry them here, so when I found myself in the area, I decided to stop in. Well, they do have them, but they are a bit more expensive than I was seeing online elsewhere, so I decided to pass. They do also have the film for the Fujifilm Instax cameras, and a photographer friend mentioned that they frequently have film sales, so if/when I get my hands on one, no doubt this will be the place I stop for film. Now that the holidays are here, this is a good place to stop for all of your Christmas gift decorating as they have all kinds of little fun bows, stickers and baubles you can attach to your presents to make them a bit more interesting. read more

Big store, but horrible customer service. First of all it's very hard to find someone to help you and once you do, they treat you with an attitude. They obviously hate their jobs and shouldn't be in customer service. I definitely don't recommend going there if you are going to need assistance from an employee. my experience at michaels was okay. i was looking for a frame and there were people in the frame department working. first, i asked a lady not in the frame department just to help me look for a specific frame but i had to look up the sizes on my phone first after i had gotten her attention. she quickly directed me to the people working in the frame department. the first girl she asked was too busy on the computer to help me but from what i was seeing she just didn't wanna get up from her chair because i didn't see her doing anything besides looking at a screen that was halfway filled out but not actually filling anything out. she was just kinda looking around.. (in my experience working in retail if your not helping another customer you should automatically be available for another customer). the other person working in the frame department was not wearing a mask at all and he was helping people. there were 3 people working in the frame department and the other 2 girls was wearing a mask and they didn't even seem to care that he was just dangling his on one of his ears.. like for real? as soon as i saw that i didn't want to ask him for help. i was going to ask the third girl but by that point i was over it. so, i started to look for the frame i was looking for on my own. didn't find what i was looking for.. i just bit my lip and asked the guy with the mask dangling from his ear. honestly, he was the only person in that department that was approachable. his vibe was just warm and i appreciated that. the only reason why i couldn't find what i was looking for because i needed special measurements that just had to be made. which is fine. overall my experience like i said was okay. i really wish the guy was wearing a mask especially during our interaction. although he was the best employee in my eyes. read more
