His mother was running the shop while he was away and she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable answering all my questions and sharing lots of fun details about the shop, the business, and New Orleans. The owner was super knowledgeable, telling us the history behind the NOLA drawings of voodoo and history, as well as their ties to the playing cards that were drawn by one of the owners. Everything was clean, and well laid out and super affordable. They also had some tarot decks and books, which my friend was interested in, and she was directed to their nearby storefront for a much wider selection of items. We popped over there to browse and again loved the layout and store. The cashier was another family member, keeping the business family run, and was also super helpful in explaining the various decks and books, so my friend was able to get the right tools as an intro to tarot. I feel like this is sort of related to Zele across the street since they share a couple of artists, but there are unique items here and they have changed up slightly on the weekends that I've been in. Plus there's a rug store in the back which I haven't really checked out since I have beaucoup rugs. Each booth is separate so you pay each artist or their designee individually. There is jewelry and pottery and paintings and prints and photos and an assortment of items. If you are a fan of Cary Chun Lee's cat paintings, he is often painting at his booth in the marketplace and also sells originals not just prints. Great spot to find the perfect item that you didn't know you needed.

I was passed to another associate who replied she would check. She returned and stated she had four. When I asked, I was told they could not hold an item, which I do understand. My daughter agreed to use her lunch break to drive thirty minutes to pick up the item. On the way, we called the store back to confirm the items were in fact in stock. Again, the response was they had four. When my daughter arrived, she couldn't find them and asked an associate for help. She was then told they didn't have them, that they sold out Saturday. A call was made following this visit, this time to the manager. The manager stated they sold the last ten on Saturday to a customer selling them on EBay. No apologies made for the mistake or the hour of travel time and aggravation. I use to shop at the Hobby Lobby in Elmwood until I grew tired of the constant mess from stocking at peak shopping hours and the rudeness of their associates. Apparently the rudeness is not limited to this location.

Pandemic update: For December 2020, the Market has moved to…read moreCity Park on the Great Lawn across from the Peristyle. It is much smaller than the usual December markets at Palmer Park but it is well spread out. It is happening every Saturday until Christmas. You enter from the Dreyfous Dr side of the Great Lawn, where you leave your info for contact tracing and they have hand sanitizer. The whole area is taped off and we are trusted to be adults and comply; but in case you aren't a good citizen, there is a security guard nearby. There were 20-30 vendors selling their wares. Everyone was masked and I was glad to see more and more vendors were excepting e-payments. Great way to support local artists and get some amazing presents for your loved one or you!

I was super excited to go to this vinyl store. I was recently gifted a Cricut so I'm new to…read morecrafting to say the least. I found the selection of HTV to be very nice. The permanent vinyl section was much more slim. Everything I saw organized into 12x12 sheets for the most part and a few small rolls of certain vinyls. The downside of my experience was as follows: 1. There wasn't any employees present in the store when I first got there for quite a few minutes. I was pressed for time. And I had questions but no one to ask for help. 2. I liked that the vinyl was separated by HTV and permanent on opposite walls but because I'm newer to vinyl I couldn't tell which was which at first. So I hope in the future the store will clearly label each section. 3. When I was finally greeted, I was greeted by a friendly but MASKLESS MAN DURING A PANDEMIC. There is a sign on the door for customers to wear mask but the gentleman helping me didn't have one on. It made me VERY uncomfortable to have him speak face to face without a mask on. This was the worst part my experience. Please make sure that all persons working in your establishment wear masks when dealing with the public please. 4. I did not see prices for anything or maybe they weren't clearly labeled on each bin for the sheet of vinyl. Overall I thought the store was nice but there is some area for improvement. I would like to shop there again in the future to support local business, black businesses and women owned businesses. I hope my feedback does not offend. I truly want to see this business flourish . And I am LOVING the holographic vinyl I picked up there!
