Before I get to the main body of my review, I want to mention their old location. Located on Camp Street in a very old building, the amount of history in that place was truly amazing. In their case were old police badges, old signs, etc. that they had made throughout the years. I was really sad to see them move from the old spot, but the new place is much more customer friendly. Now in Mid-City, there is ample street and lot parking. Inside the store is clean, modern and efficient. There are many items on display that show the range of things they can create. Everything from vinyl signs to super high end markers for mausoleums. The favorite piece of mine is the old wheelbarrow branded with the Ed Smith logo prominently displayed in the lobby. But looking at cool things is not why I come. I have had many different items made by Ed Smith over the years including name tags, desk name plates, office door plates and most recently self-inking stamps. The quality of their stamps is first rate. They even handled a difficult custom job for me that I picked up today. While not cheap, I have never seen a self- inking stamp so large or so clear. The staff are very helpful and even willing to deal with difficult customers who have unrealistic expectations (Me). I am sure you can go to some national company for these kinds of things, but trust me, Ed Smith is the best at what they do, and they are local.

This is the cutest store ever!…read more Ok, so it is your standard Hallmark store. They have some awesome cards. Of course they do, that is what they are known for. Duh. The stationary is also a wide selection. They have a great selection of random knick-knacks, local themed items, sports items. A special room with out of season gifts for those who love those items, and these items can not be found during the off-season. But you can find them here. On sale. Year round. Amazing. I have a friend whose birthday is in May, but she loves Halloween stuff. To say that she loves it is an understatement. So, this is the perfect place to get her gift just before her birthday, without having to buy an item and save it for 6 months before being able to give it. The staff is friendly and helpful. The walkways can be a tad on the tight spot in the knick-knack area. Some things can be a bit on the expensive side. But this is a great place to buy gifts for those who are hard to buy for. I always enjoy coming here and shopping. Of course, I am a bit biased. I grew up in a house on Hallmark Drive in a small town outside of Charlotte, NC, so as kids we would write Hallmark Dr greeting card company on the back of all the cards my siblings and I would make for birthdays or holidays. I am not sure why our street was named that, but I like to tell the story any way.
