Rating only the framing department at this location. I bought this custom 30x30 frame as a xmas gift for this puzzle we put together; when we got it back, it was positioned upside down and not straight on the mat. We returned to let them know, and the manager told us "straight is a matter of perspective" which made us scratch our heads, because, umm, have they have never seen a globe? The department manager also said "you didn't give me any instructions on how to place it on the mat". Welp, you didn't ask, and I've never had anything custom framed before, but way to try and gaslight your customer. Anyway, they said they would try to fix it, so we left it there for another week, and all they did was flip it 80 degrees & reposition the hanging wire. When we went to hang it on the wall, we noticed how terrible and not flush the corners are, I've attached photos to show how crappy the construction of the frame is. $430 bucks later, very dissatisfied with the quality and the customer service and have no hope they would correct this and do it right even if I took it back again. Also, apparently no one wanted to sign their name to the quality promise sticker on the back, so that seems worthless. Needless to say, way over priced and they did a horrible job on this frame. 11/10 do not recommend. read more

I love Michael's -- and all their discounts they offer. I needed some cake decorating tips, and they had exactly what I needed, plus some fun tips that had only been available at baking shops for the longest time. Imagine my delight! (They also have an excellent selection of more common cake decorating tips.) Halloween and fall related decorations are in full swing. I thought it was fun to stroll through and look at all the new spooky and cute stuff. With all the cool weather we've been having, and seeing all these neat decorations, it's really catapulted me into the Halloween spirit. :) The best part was saving money at checkout. I saved quite a bit of money -- 40% off one item with a digital coupon, then at the end the cashier had another coupon for Labor Day. :) Very happy with my shopping experience. read more

Terrible place, Michaels at fort union. Once Joanne's closed this was an option for fabric and sewing supplies. Well the staff have been rude each time and the bathroom is often closed for paying customers whenever they want to keep it closed. It's very sad to want to just live life and go shop to encounter unfriendly faces, speeding you at the checkout because someone is too bothered to help with the rewards or annoyed to cut fabric for you and it's just not worth it. After a staff member mumbled something so rude after they told me the bathroom was closed, way before closing time by the way, I left and cried in the car just not understanding how people can be so mean. She thought I didn't hear because i had walked off but my husband heard. Go to Hobby lobby they are always kind and helpful and respectful and have smiles every time. Here at this Michale's site it's like the staff hate working and it shows with the nasty treatment to customers who just want to buy fabric and who thanks to them they have a job. Bad customer service, rude staff, unfriendly and will ruin your day. read more

I am not particularly a fan of Michaels, but sometimes they are the best choice for a specific item, or I'm in a time crunch, so do stop by once a year or so. There are always coupons available, so do yourself a favor and prior to your visit join their email list or cut one out of a mailer. Additionally, your receipt will also always give you a "40% off one regular priced item" coupon, so if planning to make a big purchase keep that in mind. You likely know what to find here so I won't list all that, but this location is fairly well organized and clean enough, maybe a tad smaller than some I've been to, but not tiny. I can never find an employee on the floor, but they are nice enough at check out, and the last time I went they had a deceptive sale sign for something I was buying, so offered an additional percentage off my purchase without my asking. The Fort Union shopping center is a bustling place, and this area of it in particular always seems to be rather congested, so parking can suck on the weekends, though you will always find some, it just may require some trekking to the storefront. Good selection on some things when they are in stock - a lot of the things I was looking for were out of stock. Messy checkout area, things are a little oddly organized in this store. I have never seen more than one cashier working here, there's always a line. I feel bad for whoever is working; the young lady ringing me up was overworked and seemed drained and grumpy :/ I didn't see many people working in the floor, which left me to my own devices when I couldn't locate several thingsI appreciate their selection of sketchpads and large canvas sizes, and of course, they've always got a coupon for something. Overall it's still hard not to find something magical here, I've just seen some better locations. UPDATE: I went to this location again last night, shopped for 5 minutes and stood in line for probably 25 minutes, not only was the line long, but it was slow. Most of the time there was one lone cashier at one of about 6 check stands, she was checking as fast as she could - but there were just too many people in line. FINALLY, someone who I assumed was a manager came and started checking people out, too. It wasn't a particularly busy night, it's just that everyone was done shopping and bottlenecked at this checkout that always seems to move at a glacial pace. What's going on here, guys? It would have been faster for me to drive a few miles away than to stand in line this long. What's the answer? Self checkouts? A little more funding to this location for one more cashier? I have been here 4 or 5 times and this is always a problem. Why? read more

As my check-in history clearly indicates, I'm no stranger to this place. It's been unfortunate, then to watch over the years as things have come a little undone. There's still no massive glaring problems and I wouldn't warn anyone away, but there are a couple of areas that need to be tightened back up. The biggest and most obvious pain point here is the line. I'm there midday, late night, weekend, weekday; it doesn't matter. There's always a line. It moves painfully slow, and lately it's been kind of unbearable. With very rare exception, there are always 6-8 people in line ahead of me, and it can be a 10-minute wait at minimum to get out the door. This is very much a first world problem, but it also stands out as a problem nonetheless. It's not that there are 15 people in line ahead of me (only once or twice has this been the case) but the cashiers are just excruciatingly slow. Bottom line, this has gotten slower and slower over time and now I avoid going here unless I have at least a half hour to burn. Lately I've been finding items out of stock, or nearly so. I go to grab 4 or 5 of something, and only find 1 left on a hook or shelf. And I wish it was a little more tidy--the shelves seem to me a little more mixed up. All in all, it's still a nice place. I've been to some less than appealing craft stores and this Michael's is head and shoulders above many of them, but having seen what it was just a few years ago and the direction it's slowly gone, it's enough to put me off. Many of these things can be addressed, so here's hoping that they will be. read more

I ordered my items online and it was super easy to picked up. The only negative comment I have is that one of my items I purchased had a minor defect. I ordered a packed of black beads, but one of the beads in the package was yellow. The employees were nice and the store is well-organized. The only question I have is why they don't take competitve stores coupon anymore. read more

DEBORAH you are AWFUL !!! When did you become a non bathroom use store for paying customers? Visited Michael's on Fort Union as a paying customer when my 8 year old needed to use the restroom. As we approached the restroom and watched an employee exit said bathroom we were told the bathrooms were closed. After asking to please make an exception for a child she refused which led to my daughter to unfortunately having an accident. She has not stopped crying from embarrassment because of Deborah refused a child of basic human decency. read more

I had a fantastic shopping experience at Michael's, located in the shopping center on Fort Union Boulevard and 900 E, a few days before Christmas. When I entered Michael's, a cheerful sales person named Agata, asked me if I needed help finding something. I told her that I needed help finding three items. Agata then showed me where each of the three items were located. One of the items was a Christmas wreath. Agata patiently showed took down a number of wreaths hanging on the wall until I found the perfect one. Agata is a superb sales associate! the website somehow lost my custom framing order in internet limbo. I could see the order in my account, my cc was charged but neither natl headquarters, nor the local store could see it. after several weeks and over a dozen calls to the national line I was about to give up, but then I called the local store once more and they helped me out. I showed them the order in my account and they were able to replicate it and even helped me pick out mattes that worked better with the diplomas (I had previously ordered online without seeing options in store). they did an excellent job on framing both my and my husband's diplomas/certificates that we had accumulated over the last 15yrs. would absolutely use again. read more

Michaels is great for crafting items and you can get a decent amount of stuff for home decor as far as decorating your home and interior design. It's similar to hobby lobby in that way which I love. This location is really organized and lines go by quick as well as the craft selection seems to be up to date as far as in stock. They always have coupons and they now have their own card and app! So if you are someone that loves deals, download their app and utilize the amazing deals and coupons you can take advantage of!!! read more

Michaels has a lot to offer but art and craft supplies to custom framing, flowers and wreaths, and home decorations. We've purchased some great wreaths for our home at Michaels that we've really loved. They regularly offer coupons and sales. So don't pay full price for anything. read more

Hurray for clearance, buy one get one deals, and 40% off coupons! I love that I can always find a deal at Michaels. If you just keep an eye on the thing you're craving, for me it was stretched canvases and square frames, suddenly you'll find yourself doing that excited little yip, (or yelp, if I may) and stocking up on a great find!! Michaels has a great variety of stuff, from crafting to decorating to painting to framing to knitting to beads, etc etc etc etc. I'll admit, they are most helpful when you intend to do something creative, and that's not often for me. But, as soon as I decided to, they just made me so happy. The staff is nice. I know there are classes there if you want to learn a new skill. I generally don't give box stores or chain stores 5 stars, call me pigheaded, it's just a thing. But I am so pleased with my deals that I just have to. All in all, it's a great store. read more

EEEW GROOOOOSS!!! love Michaels but this location is disgusting!!! I went to use the bathroom to find out after there is no toilet paper and no hand soap! I understand running out of products but these items obviously haven't been checked out/managed in weeks to be completely gone!!! I wonder what other cleaning basics they are overlooking??? Bummer! My wife needed to get some items that were locked up. I spent 5 minutes running around trying to find someone. When I did she said she did not have the key and could not help me. We finally got the items we needed and the saving grace was the cashier who was friendly and even saved us 20% on our purchases. read more

Keryl, the store manager is very unpleasant and unprofessional. I am a business owner and have shopped at this location for supplies over the years and have noticed a decrease in the great service this store once had. I shop for supplies at this location once a week and almost every time the store manager seems on edge, full of exasperation. Yesterday I tried returning a defective item, had receipt in hand and receipt was still within the 60 day return policy. Cashier called Kerry (store manager for approval and she said she could only exchange product for the exact same item because package was opened. Item was defective! And I had valid receipt that states in the back that refund will be given on defective items with receipt. Long story short, Kerry, forcibly opened the package, clearly agitated, took out defective item and tried proving me wrong.. One of the blades in the cutter clearly was very lose and falling out of the socket. She still insisted on exchange only and walked away furiously. Customers next to me where shaking their heads in disbelief. To her dismay, I politely said I was a member of the press as she walked away and showed her my badge. She quickly told the cashier to issue a refund and again walked away again without saying a word. Lesson learned; buyer beware!! Management staff is very rude and will try to avoid giving refunds at any cost! I spent $200-$300 in supplies for my business at the Midvale Michaels store every week, and that was a last straw for me. read more

Fellas.... as Brigham Young would say, "This is the place!" This is the place to score some serious points with the girlfriend, wife, or nine wives if you will. I had never been here and really have no "crafty skills" to ever have to use this place again AND I'm not a scrap booker. But, I was in the need for some feathers and someone had suggested this place. So..... I took the wife here and the rest is history. This place has more items than just arts / crafts things too. It is quite a store with all kinds of little knicks and some knacks and they also have some of your standard fare knick knacks too! If i were to ever have to use this retailer again, I would definitely give my two thumbs and two toes up. read more

One complaint and it's not about this particular store. It was about Michael's, in general. In the store, there is a sign that if you text the code "OFFER," then you will receive a percentage off your entire purchase. I thought, "Oh good!" So, I texted the code and received a message that I would receive a discount offer within a week. WHAT?!?! I was shopping right then. But, anyway, besides that, it was great. Lots of arts and crafts supplies. I was able to find a holiday craft project for the kids. Also, they have tons and tons of scrapbooking supplies. There was a bit of a line at the cashier area, but I guess that's to be expected during the holiday season. When it was finally my turn to check out, I asked the cashier if they had any coupons or discounts and she did have some. I was so happy! I would have saved more if I got the discount advertised on the sign as I entered, but it was better than nothing. Nice location. Clean and tidy store. read more

I ordered an item online on 1/31. The 14 days later the item had not arrived, so I called customer care to report the item was lost. Customer care told me that the item had been transferred from UPS to my local USPS office 7 days earlier and that I needed to wait longer. Why would it take longer than 7 days for the item to be delivered from my local USPS office to my home, less than 2 miles away? The following day, I went to my local post office to see if they could track down the package, when I told them the situation, the clerk rolled his eyes and said that when UPS transfers items to USPS for delivery, the machines somehow ruin the shipping label, making the package undeliverable. I called Michaels customer care the following Monday and was told that the item would be replaced, followed by an email that my replacement order was on it's way. 3 days later, I received an email that I had a refund from Michaels, it was not the full cost of the item and shipping, just the cost of the item. I figured that it was a refund as an apology for my package being lost and taking several weeks for them to make it right. I did not ask for a refund, but though it was nice of them to do so. Boy, was I wrong. The next email that I got was from Michaels telling me that my replacement had been cancelled. No explanation, just that it was cancelled. They had cancelled my order and refunded the cost of the item, but not the shipping cost. When I called today, the representative had the nerve to argue with me that I had been refunded the full amount, as I sat here with all of their emails, my paypal receipt and my bank statement showing that what had been refunded was much less than what had been paid to them... and the usual 3-5 business days to put back what it took them 1 second to deduct from my account. I will never shop at Michaels again, which isn't a big deal, there are better places to shop anyway, it just happens to be closer to my home than the others. From now on, I will make to drive to give my hard earned money to an honest and reliable company. read more

When I walked in I was greeted by an extremely friendly young lady with fun hair who helped me around the store and even came with me. We chatted the entire time and I ended up spending way to Much time in the store but didn't mind it at all. Great customer service and very knowledgable. read more
