Disappointed is an understatement for our first impression of this location. We came in looking for a Mother's Day bouquet and were greeted by Amber (an older woman with white hair). When we explained what we were looking for, she simply told us to "look around and see what you like." The shop floor mostly consisted of cases of sad-looking flowers, with no catalog, examples, or real direction on bouquet sizing or pricing. When we asked about pricing, we were told bouquets started at $50, then $70, then $90 for premium arrangements. We pointed to a few bouquets waiting for pickup to get an idea of what those price points actually looked like, and she advised those arrangements were around $50-$60. The entire interaction already felt rushed and dismissive. We explained we wanted mostly purple flowers with some white and pink mixed in. She suggested a $70 bouquet and vase, which we agreed to and paid for. We were told it would take 30-40 minutes. We even asked if we could pick it up the next day, but she told us they'd be too busy and that we should get it that day instead. While checking out, I asked if I could purchase additional flower food. Her response was, "What I gave you is what you can get." After I clarified that I was offering to buy more, she then said, "If you want to buy a bunch we can probably do that." At that point it was obvious she wasn't really listening to us. When we returned 30 minutes later, the bouquet was mostly greenery with only about 9 flower stems. For a $70 arrangement, we expected something much fuller and with significantly more purple flowers, as requested. I politely explained that I didn't love the appearance and asked what could be done to add more flowers and reduce the greenery. Without hesitation, Amber responded: "More money." At that point, we were honestly ready to request a refund because of the attitude and lack of customer service. She then got the manager, who offered to swap out some of the greenery and roses for other flowers. About 5-10 minutes later, the bouquet was noticeably fuller, with more purple flowers and less filler. Unfortunately, the manager didn't say another word to us afterward and simply placed the bouquet on the counter before quickly disappearing into the back room. As she was packing the vase into a box, Amber grabbed a single packet of flower food and said "for your troubles" before placing it in the flower box. I understand Mother's Day is a busy holiday, but the entire experience felt rushed, dismissive, and shockingly impersonal. After leaving, we browsed their website and saw full bouquets in the $50-$60 price range which only highlighted the quality of bouquet we should have initially received. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you're hoping for thoughtful customer service and a positive experience while purchasing flowers for someone special. A placed a delivery for a banquet of flowers for my Mothers birthday and was told what I was ordering would be a decent size arrangement for the money I was paying. It turned out that not only was the arrangement tiny and disarrayed, but it was placed in a box and put on the patio of my mothers house without so much of a notification by ringing the door bell or a knock at the door like most deliveries of flowers are done. And to top off, when I called to find out how the delivery went, I was told it was placed on the patio because no one was home when in fact my mother was home and she said she never heard door bell or a knock at the door. So they lied! The customer service rep who took my order was very dry and unenthusiastic. The whole experience was problematic. My man ordered some flowers for me and instructed you all (paid extra) to have these flowers delivered before noon to my place of work. However, this delivery was not only delivered after hours, but the individual who delivered them was banging on the door in the loudest and most unprofessional manner, until a colleague of mine answered and they shoved the delivery to them. With that said, the order was not ONLY late, but it was also incomplete as the order originally included and paid for a box of chocolates. While the flowers were beautiful (wilted because it took longer than expected to deliver), we will never be using this company again. read more

Heard about this place nearby that delivers flowers and needed to send some for Valentine's Day. There was a Valentine's special that ranged from $50-$65 so I opted for the middle option (Deluxe) and they had free shipping so it looked like a great deal. My girlfriend's work was really close by so they delivered first thing in the morning and she loved them. They are still mostly alive which is a nice change up compared to the grocery story bouquets. I definitely expected something bigger but it's expected for the time of year and I did like the vase that came with it. I'll definitely look at them next time I have flower needs. read more

I just received the cutest arrangement from Chuckie's Spawn herself! Last week I ordered an arrangement for myself because I just finished summer finals and my work week was busy, so I said flowers on Monday would be a nice pick me up. I waited around all day today and thought at one point maybe I didn't submit the order because it was late in the day and I hadn't received the flowers or a call. I found my email confirmation that was sent to my spam filter by mistake and got a phone call shortly after from the florist that the courier was not able to find me at the address listed on the delivery ticket. I explained that that wasn't the street and that the confirmation stated the correct address but no worries, I'm here at XYZ. I then received a call from the courier stating that she had been to the correct address and spent 10 minutes "banging on the door and ringing the doorbell". Our doors are glass by the way... After letting the courier rant for 3 minutes, I said "Okay, I am sorry that the address was not correct but what is the next step? Will I get the flowers today or do I need to call the florist to reschedule the delivery?" The courier hung up... A few minutes go by and I hear someone banging on the glass doors to my office. As I approach one of my VPs opens the door for the courier and calmly points out the location of the doorbell. I say hello and introduce myself and the courier begins to shout that she "don't have time for this $%*^", how she has spent a lot of time looking for my "ugly @&*". I'm looking at my VP in surprise as I say ma'am you do not have to be unprofessional and she shouts back "ugly #$%*, whatever, I make more money than you, #$*& you." I walk over to the door as my VP has since walked off in amazement and closed the door since the woman was now in the hallway waiting for the elevator. When my VP returned to his office he asked was I okay and mentioned that the courier was in the hall long after I had closed the door, shouting profanity and obscenities. I called the florist and made them aware of the incident and the manager immediately called back to apologize and to let me know that he was going to speak with the courier's supervisor/boss as the florist uses another vendor for their deliveries in D.C. Again, the arrangement was ADORABLE but the way this company was just represented was NOT!! I really hope this florist finds another way to get customers service in my area, because that was not the happy feeling I was looking for when I placed my order. Missing customers orders! Having to keep asking the same questions very unorganized and annoying. I came to this store to pick up flowers that Michael's Flowers forgot to give the DoorDash driver before me. I showed the name of the customer and description of the missing Order to the cashier in the front. She tells me " the order isn't there someone already picked it up" I called the client to verify and that wasn't true. I asked to speak to the manger he comes over I explained to him they missed flowers on the order he says "no problem we will get them right out" 10 minutes goes by the mangers comes back and asks what type of flowers was it again. I show him the description and called my client so he could talk to them again. Another 10 mins goes by the manger comes again and tells me they have to verify the order they will call my client from their phone. I said that's fine no problem 15 more minutes go by the manger comes back and says we tried calling but he won't answer. I told him give me one minute let me try to call I called my client he answered and explained the situation again. At this point I didn't say anything I went online and posted a review on google/yelp of my experience. Within 5 mins of me posting how service was the manger comes back out aggressive and yells my name through the store so I answered. He says " oh so you just wrote a bad review about us" I said yes! I did and everything I said was true. The manger responded " well you could have just told me" I said no people need to know how this experience was and I'm not about to make a scene in front of children and customers. The manger then told me since I wrote a bad review don't come back. I told them if what I said wasn't true I would take the comment off. They couldn't tell me what wasn't true so this review will stand. The manger even ran outside to take a picture of my car to get it towed because I was parked out front with my hazard lights on. I assumed the flowers were heavy so I parked there but " since I wrote a bad review he's going to retaliate and get my car towed. This could have gotten really dangerous never confront a customer over a bad review take it on the chin and better your business. When I had received a vision of what to do in the event I did not make it to her graduation on time. Of course, what better than to pick up some beautiful flowers. So I quickly Yelped a nearby location and Michael's Flower shop popped up. I end up calling the place, a gentleman by the name of Chris answered (so grateful for his speedy service). I told him the whole story, he asked, what's her favorite colors? I said, she is very colorful. He said, how far are you? I said, 10-15 mins. He then said, it'll be ready by the time you get here. I rushed to the flower shop, parked near Gold's gym bc the lot of full, walked into the shop, rang the bell on the counter. When I heard Chris in the back wrapping up the bouquet of flowers, saying he's almost finished. 60 seconds go by, he comes out, I looked at the bouquet and get teary eye bc it had my little princess's feel to it. I paid the man, and thanked him for such an amazing, and quick turnaround on preparing the idea of description I had gave to him. I was last minute with sending my mom flowers for Valentine's day. Usually it's impossible to find someone to deliver on the day if you didn't place an order in advance or they charge the wildest delivery fee. I ordered an arrangement to be delivered as a surprise and to my surprise the recipient was not home! The delivery driver (wish i got his name) called and informed me it looked like no one was home and he didn't want to leave the flowers outside in the cold (as it is late December). He patiently waited while I called the recipient AND THEN they called a neighbor to see if they would receive the package and hold it for her until she arrived back in town. Micheal's Flowers really went above and beyond in doing that! I placed my order with 1800 Flowers back on Feb 9th for a delivery for Valentines Day. I order ed the arraignment "Reflections of Love" in large so I paid extra for the flowers and the vase itself. I choose that particular item because it had the flowers I wanted for my wife and the vase to have a meaning. Also, because I didn't want the usual Roses and clear glass set. I received my order on the day that was schedule which was probably the only thing right this florist did. They sent a cheap vase made out of plastic and a hint of silver. Dont worry pictures are attached. The vase wasnt even sturdy enough to hold the flowers. The flowers were poorly placed and dint present a nice look of a circle as shown in the picture. Also, the flowers were close to dying. I contacted 1-800 flowers which guaranteed a delivery for the following day 2/15 for their 100% Smile and gave me a bonus reward. I get a call from the florist in the afternoon (after I waited all morning for my wife's replacement saying they will not be able to make it due to bad weather (mind you VA only had about an inch of snow and the roads were pretty clear). Just an excuse to post pone the delivery. When speaking to the florist he tried to tell my wife that he was just going to send the flowers at which point my wife gave me the phone. I explained to the florist that I would really appreciate it if they can send me the vase I paid for which was in the order with the flowers. The florist said yes no problem we will send it to you tomorrow. Comes 2/16 I get a delivery of just the flowers. Not sure if the guy I spoke to understood what I told him but I repeated myself several times to ensure he understood that I wanted my vase that I paid for and not some cheap imitation that you get at a dollar store. Might I add the card that was attached to the flowers looked like it was soaked. In addition, 1-800 Flowers promised a new arrangement but what does the florist at Michael's do? Send only a few flowers worth about $25. Also, unwanted guests came with the flower. Little flower flies were in the flowers. I have killed 5 after putting the flower in water. This florist doesn't care about their customers but just looks to make a few extra dollars by cutting corners. My neighborhood Giant sells healthier and better arraignments than this store. There was one size bouquet offered, no option to pay additional for a larger bouquet so I expected that what I ordered online was what would be delivered. I was wrong. The arrangement that was delivered was less than half of what the picture depicted. I called 1800flowers to complain and fortunately they made it right. I don't have a problem with 1800flowers. If you are looking for wedding flowers this is not the place to go. I showed the gentleman pictures of what I wanted. He agreed that it was possible for him to make it. I asked for "dark burgundy flowers and eucalyptus". I expressed that the burgundy part was very important to me. On my wedding day my mother picked up the flowers and when I saw them my heart sank. They looked like the florist had put together everything left over from Christmas (wedding was Dec. 28th) and the only flowers in the bouquets were bright red roses. I was so disappointed and this completely threw off the esthetic I was going for. In conclusion, the flowers were overpriced for what we received and I was not given what was discussed. read more

Michael's is my "go-to" florist for buying flowers locally, but not after what I experienced with them this Valentine's Day. I had ordered flowers for my fiancé and asked that they be delivered Valentine's morning (while I was out), so I could surprise him. I was told at the time that they could not guarantee delivery at a specific time on Valentine's Day, but they would try to since I was a repeat customer. I told them what I wanted, paid for the flowers and noticed that my card was charged. Valentine's Day - No flowers arrived in the morning, no flowers arrived in the afternoon, no flowers in the evening - Nothing! Thanks goodness I had an additional gift and cards to give my sweetheart, or Michael's would have ruined Valentine's Day for me. The following business day, I walked into the store and asked why the flowers were not delivered. I was told by the counterperson that it was because there was an error in the system with my credit card and that they called and left a voicemail (not true). I was also told to check my credit card activity and that it should show as a pending charge (not true, because I had already checked and charge posted), which I indicated to the counterperson in the store. I told the counterperson that all I wanted at this point, since it was totally pointless to send Valentine's Day flowers 2 days afterwards, was to just credit back the charge to my card. The counterperson told me that they would inform the store manager that the charge needs to be credited back and they would call me. 2 days later, no call and no credit back to my card. Finally, I had to call my credit card company and explain to them what happened and disputed the charge. Sorry Michael's that you had to loose a long time customer over your incompetence. read more

I chose this florist because of the positive Yelp reviews, but I must say I was very underwhelmed. The good: They have a well-organized shop with plenty of stuff that you might want to add on to a typical purchase of flowers. I was able to quickly pick up some flowers for my wife and even had the vase placed in a convenient box for transport. The bad: I'm a big proponent of a positive customer experience, and based off the previous reviews for this business that's exactly what I was expecting. Unfortunately, I did not experience that during my visit to their store. I entered the store and immediately walked to the back where the counter was located (I could see two employees talking to each other). I stood at the counter for 20-30 seconds before either acknowledged me or even made eye contact. I got the impression from the gentleman who did finally address me that I was more of a nuisance than anything else. I told him I was looking for some flowers for my wife because it was our anniversary. He directed me to the display case where they had some pre-made arrangements. I was hoping for a little bit of assistance and maybe a recommendation. If I just wanted to pick up some standard flowers I would have gotten them at the grocery store! Maybe I caught him on a bad day, but I won't be returning to Michael's based on the first impression I got after visiting. I decided to purchase flowers for my wife after a rough week. I fired up Yelp and search for the highest ranked florists within my commute route. This is how I came across this florist. After a smalll detour, I end up in their establishment. Nice decorum and ambiance. I rang the bell on the service desk as I heard some ramblings in the back room. One of the staff members welcomed mem I gave him some parameters and he quickly gave me ideas on what I could purchase. We reached an agreement and he headed out back to work. After some time, aanother young man came out and updated me in the progress and asked me additional questions about my purchase and its transportation. Some time after, he comes out with the arrangement, a custom box for transport, and a couple of card holders. The staff was curteous and well mannered. They were on task and did not waste time on random banter, unless you engage them in it. The shop is clean, well organized, and appeared to be well stocked with their perennials (tulips for spring). The first impression is the one that counts and they are awesome. Support this business. They deserve it. And thank you for a pleasant shopping experience. I called and asked for a few more roses and hydrangeas to be added to the arrangement pictured online. I asked to spend $40 over the premium price (The premium was $68). The whole time I was on the phone I could hear a man homeschooling/virtual teaching in the background. I didn't mind so much, just somewhat unprofessional to have it so loud in the background. And maybe that effected what the women taking my order actually heard. The problem was that the arrangement delivered was LESS full than the one pictured. When I called to ask, the owner said he made it himself and he knows he put 5 hydrangeas and extra lilies, along with the other flowers that originally came with the arrangement. He only offered to pick it back up (who would do that? Take back flowers you sent to someone??) or I could swing by and get some flowers wrapped for myself (I live 3 hours away)...I wanted my DIL to get a beautiful full flower arrangement for her graduation! Received a beautiful flower bouquet in a vase with water of course. It was a gift from someone out of town. There was absolutely no directions with it and no packet to use to refresh the water. I guess it was just a careless mistake to forget that. Their social media page has poor reviews and very few postings by the business. I always call this florist in Northern Virginia when I need to send floral arrangements to friends in the area. Used their website and online ordering portal. On the 5th of July, ordered a sympathy live plant arrangement...validated the order with a phone call that it was in their system...everything checked out. Then proceeded to call my brother to ensure that someone would be home that day and to expect a delivery. After having talked for about 15 minutes, there was a knock on his door...Michael's was there with the arrangement!!!! WOW, that was FAST DELIVERY!!! Can't get my local florist to move that fast!!!
