Customer service is awful!! They gave everything crafty one should need. But don't expect to be in and out!

I'm only giving this place some stars because I love what they sell. Other than that, employees look so miserable all the time. I asked one of them a question, knowing that they had what I was asking for, and she just says they don't have it rather than trying to find it or giving me an aisle similar to what I was looking for. (It was rhinestones. Why would an art supply not have rhinestones?) That was really disappointing, because after looking around for a few more minutes I found it after I was told they simply don't sell it. read more

I walked in to Michaels per chance as I hardly ever go to Encino now that they closed the gym nearby. To my amazement, they were having a 70% off sale on framing. I had six pieces I had been holding on to for years (literally) because framing can get expensive quickly. What I did not expect was the excellent service I received over the next three weeks while they worked on my pieces. The staff in the framing area are top notched. Erik is knowledgable and full of fun facts. Knows his stuff. He is very helpful and timely. Emma is talented and made some really great suggestions. She was very supportive of my final decisions. Both of them are an asset to the store. When they were not there and I was, the manager Marita stepped in and was just as customer friendly. I will look at Michael's differently after this experience. People make the difference. As a side note: I just wish they offered even more of a selection of frames and fillets. I like being creative and found the limited choices hindering. However, I will be there at their next sale. read more

This location has the worst customer service. I couldn't find anyone on the floor to help me. When I finally spotted a manager he just point out to where I should go. He didn't help at all. My child needed to use the washroom and they were locked. I agree with the rest of reviews the line was long! Toys are also overpriced it's better to buy on Amazon or at target. Coupons don't work on Legos. Books and crayola supplies are expensive here. read more

Overall the store was one of the nicer and cleaned locations I've ever been at. Unfortunately, nice and clean does not translate to well organized and reliable in this case. I came here for three things. I was shocked when my total was twice as much as I expected (even after a coupon). Two out of the three things I bought were marked incorrectly on the shelf. Really? When I asked the cashier about one item that should have been on clearance, she just gave me a blank stare and asked me if I wanted the item or not. No. Never again. In addition to the catastrophe inside, trying to park here was a nightmare and the solicitors that yelled at me as I was walking back to my car sure sent this experience into the negative. read more

Michael's is greattt, I've been coming here a lot more often in the last year to just browse and find things for my son to do. I've found coloring books, arts and crafts, finger painting, hand print clay stuff, just random fun stuff for him to do. It's really great because the people here are very helpful and they know their stuff. I love the sales they have especially when they go 40% off and they offer the 40% off coupons from time to time. Literally you can spend all day in the store, I love scrapbooking as well so I love picking up fun stuff here. They offer some great classes as well for a minimal fee looking forward to checking it out. read more

The customer service team went above and beyond to help me locate a receipt I needed for my expense report. At first they didn't think they'd be able to find it and I'd have to contact corporate but they called the manager and he pulled it up for me. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out. It's always an "eh" experience here. The workers don't seem too happy to help but there are a few exceptions. Every time that I go, I know that I'll probably be on my own looking for something. And if I do decide to ask someone for help, I feel like I'm a bother. The only reason I go is for the amazing deals, sales and clearances- thats enough for me! read more

I'm torn with this Michael's, as I've bee going to Michaels since I was 17 to buy my leather working tools, I find that this Michael's parking lot is terrible - I know it's not their fault, but he had to be said somewhere - But once you get into the Michaels you're doing pretty good... except for some of the customers. Many of them are oblivious to what's going on and will run you over with their cart carrying only a glue stick, but again.. not Michael's fault. The lack of two stars really comes from how congested the store is down the aisles, you can barely fit two people, let alone two carts; the products are hung too high for someone of my wife's size (5') to grab things from the hooks above; and the cashiers need to remember that they offer classes there and 1) give out the syllabus' when people pay for them, and 2) you know when you're looking for that a velum paper for that wedding scrap book, but you just can't find it so you think to ask an employee to help.... well you can never find an employee unless you walk up to the register...which by the time I walk to the register I'm ready to leave.... But the plus to all of this is the cake decorating classes. The teacher, Jacqueline, is great, funny, artistic and detailed. I feel pretty good about myself knowing I can bake and decorate my own grumpy cat cake because of her. If you can get here during their open house you can save 50% on any class! Enjoy. read more

This is the usual Michael's I go to if I know that I need to stop by. New location, much better and organized than at their old spot. Located in the Encino Commons so there's plenty of parking. They always have some good deals. Kind of uncomfortable having an associate wait there while you test out merch, such as if you're buying prismacolor markers, since they're locked behind a case, but oh well. Also, you don't come here if you don't know what you're doing... that's a given, really, since they don't employ "artists" they're not going to be able to answer specific questions, just merchandise availability. There's usually some coupons you can find online before coming in, so that's a plus. read more

Came in for a return of items I had purchased 2 days ago but had lost my receipt & I was stressing over it. I cannot thank Alexandra enough for making the return process so easy and smooth. It truly makes a difference to have someone who knows what theyre doing help you & they do it with a smile. Wish she gets a raise because not every employee is as amazing as she was. I like this one... Having been a Michaels-ite... I can appreciate this store. This store is Michaels "store of the future". It's how they hope to transform the other stores into in the future... the store positions are different and the layout is totally different. It's more "boutique" like... there are some short aisles... with a circular designed scrapbooking section in the middle with cases and mini paper layouts and each section is broken down by category... (ie. weddings - all wedding paper/stickers/etc are in one section... same with travel and so on...) The framing section is much more inviting and high end too... but really it's all the same. This store just looks much better. I can rarely go into a Michaels without meeting some of my old comrades. I was a go to person at Michaels... a fix-it... a know-it-all... and that is the one thing I miss about my old job. Anyway, I ran into some old colleagues and they were telling me how they found my yelp review for our store...had a good laugh over it...and thought I wasn't harsh enough. Wow! I have to say that while this store is clean and not as cluttered and crowded as other Michael's stores it's seriously lacking in many ways. First of all it was hard to figure out where everything is. When I asked someone who works there the answer they gave was vague and they didn't even offer to show me what I was looking for. Especially when I just need a small simple thing and I am on my lunch so I'm pressed for time. They do have an extensive selection of things if you are looking for fake flowers or to make stuff with beads or to iron on stuff but I found they didn't have a lot of of what I need so not really going to become my "go to" Michael's. Too bad Burbank doesn't have this lay out. read more

For some reason every time I come here this place makes me depressed. I do not know if its the lack of style in the store, or if its the "M" on the Michael's sign that flickers outside. Despite having numerous 'stuff'', it is tremendously difficult to find this 'stuff'. I rarely find employees in the aisles, and often have to approach and disrupt the cashier line only in return to get a vague and drivel message as to where I can find something like velcro. Everything here is complicated and this store needs a major make-over. For being an Arts and Crafts store I think this place needs a touch of color and a modicum of style. However, the staff here are generally nice and despite how sad and frustrating this place is, it is one of the few store where I can find random 'stuff' such as velcro and beads. If I ever need to do some pretty science project, I will still come here, which I guess makes this place A-OK. read more

I buy my frames from here. They have a large selection of sizes and styles and if you can't find exactly what you're looking for, they can custom make it for you. Check their website for coupons. There is usually a 40% off one regular priced item coupon circulating. Their frames also go on sale very often, so when it's on sale, check their ads for a 25% off sale items coupon. In addition to frames, they have a ton of other art and craft supplies, including a variety of paper, paint, stickers, wedding items, baskets, boxes, and sooo much more. I came here on Friday after work to use a 50% off 1 regular item coupon (why can't they just do a 50% off entire purchase? Would save me the hassle of dragging my fiance to multiple Michaels, multiple times just so we can purchase things for all of my DIY craft needs) and thought the store was a nice big size. This store's layout is like the layout of the Michaels in West Covina, where everything has shorter aisles and laid in a reasonable easy to find order. Just wished their clearance area was a bit bigger to pick through. Everything was very nice and neat, clean and such, which is something I like to see in any store I walk into. Employees were easy to find on the floor to answer a question I had. Wait time in line to pay for my item was only maybe 5 minutes and hassle free. The things I looked at on this shopping visit was all in stock. I would definitely stop by this Michaels again after work to buy other things for my crafting obsessions. The only con I would say about this place is the parking. There are so many other great shops in this plaza that the Michael's is in, so not sure if you will get lucky to find a parking spot like I did when I drove into the lot (came here around 1:30- ish pm). read more

Maybe we came when the nicer employees were working, but we experienced great customer service on our visit. This store is much larger than other Michaels in the San Fernando Valley area. We needed help finding a window marker and the first employee knew exactly where it was. He was even nice enough to radio for someone to unlock the restroom for us later. We came pretty late, but they didn't give us attitude like some places would during closing. As for selection. They have EVERYTHING. In great quantity. read more

For the past few weeks, I had been planning a surprise party for a friend of mine and her fiance who had just recently got engaged. I frequented Michaels (this store in particular) purchasing decorating materials (vases, candles, ribbon, scrapbook paper to make a banner, glitter, etc.). Over a two week period, I purchased lots of things I knew I needed and some things I thought might be extra supplies so that on the day of the party I wouldn't have to run around like a crazed person because I didn't have enough candles or something. Overall, I spent almost $120 on craft supplies alone. After the party, I had a few items items to return to Michaels. As this was the closest to my home, I went to this store this past Saturday to make my returns. After standing in line for over 10 minutes while only two cashiers worked the register, I was finally called to Katherine's register. One of the items I had to return was a bottle of glitter I had bought. When I first purchased the glitter, I picked up the bottle and felt that it was on the lighter side, but how is glitter heavy? I didn't think twice about it. I also never opened the bottle of glitter in the two weeks it sat in my room so when I went to return it, and Katherine opened the lid I was shocked to find that it was only a quarter of the way full. Katherine proceeded to, very rudely, tell me I couldn't return the glitter even though it was within my 60 day return policy. I informed her that I had no idea it was empty when I bought it and why would Michaels restock their shelves with empty items. She called her manager Mysteen over and Mysteen also confirmed that she would not take the product back, even though I purchased it that way. Both were rude, unhelpful and acted like I was trying to pull a fast one on Michaels for $3.29. Mind you, I returned LESS THAN $20 in supplies I had purchased for the party keeping the majority of the $100 I had spent. I love shopping at Michaels, but I will never go to this one again and recommend that you don't either. The one at Zelzah and Devonshire has better products, better customer service and WAY better parking. read more

This place was "mehhh" at best. Sure, everything was cheap.. Or at least reasonable, but it was really hard to find what I needed. I dunno how many times I walked around the store. I feel like this particular store can be organized a bit more. I know I'm not thaaat naive to not know where things are. At least keep all the art stuff around the same area instead of having to go to different areas of the store to find what you need. On top of that... Things were kinda scattered everywhere. You OCD people might not wanna come in here.. You wouldn't bode well with the items everywhere. Lmao! Maybe it was just the day I came? I don't know.. But if you don't mind the scattered items around the store.. Then you'll survive at this store. You're probably better off finding a staff member and asking where items are instead of having to walk around aimlessly looking for what you need. 3 stars sounds about right. read more

This used to be my favorite location. The customer service has been really bad lately. Employees here look like they hate their job. I came in and couldn't find anyone to help me. After a long wait in line the cashier by the name of Carmen (black and red hair) tells me I can't use a coupon on two different transactions which I've done in the past at this same location and the one in Granada Hills. Easily the best and most organized Michaels I've been too! They have large signs that indicate each section and they even seemed to have a larger variety of products. The employees are very helpful. I'm a teacher and an artist so I tend to come to Michaels several times a week and I was very pleased with this location! Keep up the great work! read more

Good selection, no one is on the floor to help you out but I believed everyone already knows that. Great deal yes, and super clean. The employees there are friendly as well so it's a decent store. Now where I get them to knock down some stars is the fact that they lied to me and probably everyone else before and after me. They are selling this scratch off cars to give you discount. The young lady was most likely told by her managers to tell customers "if you buy the tape you get the scratch off card" now the tape is $5 this if you don't need tape you are paying an extra $5 for the card. We were like 'what the heck we're going to be back this Friday to buy Christmas things might as well' so we bought the tape. No big deal. When I'm in the car I start scratching and I might be wrong but the way of looks like is that the card was only good on 11/4 it's now 11/7 and I paid $5 for this. Red flag 1. Red flag 2: it says 10% off entire purchase but in small print it says 10% one product. Yet the thing that pissed me off the most was the bottom print in the front. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO RECEIVE CARD. Wait, I just paid an extra $5 to get this card when I did have too!!? It's not like I only spent $1 there, I spent way more than that yet I didn't even have to spend a penny, red flag 3. So I'm guessing management is trying to boost tape sell that they have their cashier tell that to customers, so there's a bonus for the employee that sells more tape!? Whatever the case that was just uncalled for and totally unprofessional. Careful with that ladies and gents. read more

Horrible and unreliable. Called on a Tuesday, which is the day they get stock, to reserve 3 items that were on order. I was told my the store employee on the phone that my items would be held for me till Thursday. Arrive on Thursday, wait 20 mins in line only to be told that the items were no longer being held. There was only 2 of the 3 items and they were on the shelf. 1 of the items was damaged leaving me with the option of buying 1 out of the 3 needed. And there was not resolve for my issue. They can't make personal orders. I can't order the item online because it is alway out of stock. They couldn't even guarantee the 6 that are coming in the next shipment could be held for me. I like this new store approach. Items are spaced out and easy to find. I like the shorter aisle layout, just means if you are there to browse that you need to take more time :-) The parking situation is super easy and they always have carts/baskets put back properly. Nice big clean store. I have to give extra credit for their staff. I get the feeling that some of the floor folks have been there a few years. Or at least during their move to this location. I asked a *very* young guy to help me find a specific material and he was able to walk me through my options quickly and solve what I needed. Totally impressed. read more

It's currently 10:26 a.m., which means the store has only been open 26 minutes, I come to the restroom and look around and realize it's so unsanitary! There has been no inspection of this restroom before the store opened-- clearly! I thought it was protocol to have the restrooms cleaned and prepared for customers before the store opens? I'm seriously trying to figure out how this particular store has anything higher than 1 Star. I called to ask about a certain object I needed ASAP, online the website said this was the only store that had it in stock so I called before making the 20 minute driver over there ( and I'm glad I did). However when I called the lady I talked to was so terribly slow taking the item number I had to repeat it 5 times. After she finally gets it she says she needed to go look for it. 20 minutes later, I'm STILL waiting for her to come back to the phone. I ended up hanging up the phone and recalling. When I called back someone else answered and said they were out of stock within 2 minutes. Such a waste of time. The employees should be glad I didn't drive over there and give them a lengthy and loud piece of my mind. Worst service ever. read more

I loved Michaels .cuz of my business I go there a lot and my granddaughter doing project then we go there a lot .
