I like Michaels at this location~ you never know what you find, even if you come for a specific thing(s) for your project, it is hard to resist and not to buy something else~ probably because all the sales and coupons they promote? The line to pay can be veeeeery slow so prepare to wait....they are definitely short on staff~ p.s. please be patient and kind:) read more

You can get lost in here! Great location, cool products. They have every craft you can imagine. They also have a great team of employees who will help you out. A good place to get arts and crafts for school projects or other projects As for prices, sure they maybe 15% on Amazon or eBay but there's something about being able to check them out in person or hold them that's awesome. Don't ever go there without a coupon on your phone - there are tons online that are easy to find. read more

They had no Christmas decorations it's holiday times you must stay stocked on ornaments and other supplies

I was at the Michael's location in Encino (9187) and I had a rather concerning discussion with Enrique the apparent store manager. It started because my wife was interested in a wreath that they had on display, and it did not have a tag. I approached the young lady in the cashier's office who told me the item was $23.99. Feeling that she was just saying it to blow me off, I asked her if she could give me a sku for it so that when I am ready to pay, It would make the transaction easier. She said there was no need, we have the price up here. When I approached her to pay, about 15 minutes later, she had already forgotten (as I anticipated) and said she had to contact the store manager, which could have all been prevented if she had taken the time to look up the sku when I asked her. The manager Enrique arrives and told me that this is an online only item, and he would sell it to me using the sku of a different item (throwing off your inventory) and it ended up costing $33.32, rather than the $23.99 I was initially quoted. The price truth be told was the least of my concerns. What bothered me was Enrique's attitude as he was rushing and patronizing me as if I had somehow bothered him for wanting a good price. As he finished, I voiced my frustration to him as the Manager and told him if an item is "online only", perhaps you should see to it it never makes it to the shelf. This apparently triggered him, and he went on a rampage telling me how he was saving me money and how I should appreciate what he is doing for me, and after I voiced my discomfort in how he was talking down at me, he ended with the following comment: "Oh, I guess I shouldn't say anything like that because you are the customer?" In a sarcastic and condescending manner. I told him that I was shocked to hear that attitude from the manager, I thought you knew that yes customers are valuable, but apparently he doesn't understand this basic concept. He turned around and said "I am only reflecting your attitude towards me" and "I am sorry you do not comprehend what I am trying to explain to you, as he walked away rudely and left me talking to myself. I was very upset. I went in to Micheal's to feel happy about my purchase, not to be lectured and belittled by a young man who doesn't understand the absolute basic concepts of customer service. As I got home and reviewed my receipt, I noticed it said "Dear Valued Customer", and I thought I sure didn't feel valued at Michael's today. I thought the corporate office should be aware of what is happening down in the trenches of customer service. As for me, I think next time I will take my unvalued money to Hobby Lobby. read more

I went in today for a store pickup. I guess for in store pick they have bins? I had no knowledge of this. There were three employees in the front talking, and when I asked for help. I was told "did you check the bins" So, I went and saw nothing and I then got told "did you check the side" Mind you the whole time all three of them stood there. I honestly felt like I was wrongly interpreting their conversation. Which I mean I get it, but it turns out they had my order behind the register. It was a short walk to help me. I didn't mean to be inconvenient, but it just made me want to never order anything. Especially if my items are just in bins that anyone can take due to lack of attention. I got my items, but it just left a bad taste in mouth. One of the three could have assisted me. It was a quick thing. read more

I came in yesterday & wanted to share some love for this location! I'm thankful to live close to this one, every time I've come in I've been welcomed warmly & have received nothing but helpful, kind employees! This store is always clean, organized, and I've never struggled with parking! During my visit yesterday I was looking for a "tiny spray bottle" which honestly, could have been anywhere. I asked an employee & was taken to an area I had not looked yet, we both looked & after both thinking it was a lost cause I found exactly what I was seeking AND a bunch more things I had wanted to ask about but didn't want to give this employee a giant list! In a store with thousands of items to memorize, I was very impressed that they knew exactly where to go! I did not catch this employees name but they saved me a lot of searching, so thank you! Also, everyone I've ever encountered at the front has been so kind & helpful! During a previous visit, I overheard a guest becoming heated over a return, they were returning an item that this store did not carry, delicate situation, but this employee handled this guest beautifully, kept calm & was able to bring the guest into their calmness, what a skill! Each time I'm there I overhear this same sweet employee make someone's day & it's really refreshing to be checking out & overhear people being lovey to one another! I'll be sure to catch some names next time but kudos to all the staff here, such a warm, welcoming, & wonderful crew! read more

Hi marks for this Michael's. It is a larger store then the old location, there is great parking, sufficient staff and a terrific app that makes purchasing art supplies much less painful. My only suggestion is that they should have some price check machines throughout the store because items are not always labeled correctly. All in al,l I recommend this Michael's above others. read more

Came to drop off a package for UPS, I have the box and label just needed some tape. The manager, Robert, starts by lying to me when I ask where can I drop off a package. He tells me " yea there's a UPS store somewhere down Ventura Blvd", after his associate just told me that I can do a drop off with him (while pointing directly at him). Associate also yelled out for him to stay because a customer is coming. Then he tells me the "box has to be ready to go, sir". I tried to reply to him that it is, and I only needed tape...but he had already walked away. I ask the associate who was right next to him for the location of tape, she replies "actually, we don't sell tape". Michael's is an arts and crafts store.. what in the ..... you mean they don't sell tape?!?!?.. is like Popeye's saying they don't sell chicken.. Anyways, this Michael's is just straight . No wonder I see less and less of these stores... Even though they did break a record with me. Took less than 1 full minute to convince me to never come in again... all Amazon again. Vaya con Dios Michael's . read more

Frustrated. Did a curb side order. When I got home they had given me the wrong product. I didn't have time to come back to the store and wanted refund as the product was useless. Was transferred to 3 different people before being told they can't do that and call corporate. Called corporate and continued to get hung up on before speaking to a representative. read more

I ordered these boxes online. Ordered 15 boxes! Of the 15 pieces, there were 2 broken boxes, one had a huge cut and the other had a broken lid. I understand that this damage was not caused during delivery. It can be seen that all this damage was done before, this damage was seen by the store employees and yet they decided to send the damaged boxes to me !!! It was impossible not to notice this damage !!! I paid 70 dollars !!! That's a lot for ordinary boxes, right ?! I'm disappointed! I have to go to the store to return these boxes, but I don't have time! The site lacks the function to return the product, that's bad! read more

Big store with great merchandising. First time we went through it I was very impressed. Subsequent visits have been generally positive. They carry some unusual yarns not available in Westlake or Moorpark. A fun place to come with our grandson when we're in the Valley. He found inspiration there for a project he was doing for his entrepreneurial school a couple years ago, which made him very excited. If I'm on the hunt for something, I'd rather try to find it here rather than the Westlake store, if I'm away from home territory. The main downgrade of stars is for checkout counters. They usually have a number of cashiers, which is good. But they act like they're only there for the paycheck and have zero interest in the guests. Totally rote. It's a shame. Doesn't take much to be friendly and portray a bit of curiosity. It's a creative business - crafters tend to like it when store personnel are intrigued by what someone plans to make. They may even make suggestions. Just saying. read more

Lazy and rude employees! Ordered online for curbside, called ahead to let them know I'm arriving right before 6pm. I call at 5:55pm and get hung up on, I call back get hung up on again. So I went to the door and 2 female employees walk right past the door saying we're closed at 6:01pm. If you answered the phone i wouldn't have went up to the door at 6:01... I'm furious that they wouldn't stop to check to see what I needed. Extremely disappointed in them as human beings. read more

WATCH CAREFULLY the cashier bagging your things & prices being scanned. I was missing 3 items from my bags that I paid for and got to the car and they weren't in the bags. I went back in to see if they had fallen on the floor, they had not. I asked the cashier if they had fallen behind her register. They had not. Then she claimed she put them in the bags. I spent over 100$. Will NEVER go back! read more

Long wait. Incredibly poor service. Over one customer, they had a long long and a nightmare for a business. Unprofessional employee.

Horrible delivery service!!!!!!!! And good luck calling customer service. They hire people that can't talk english.

I love this place! They have all things crafts, and even some extra goodies that you might need. I come here often and the staff is always very kind and knowledgable. Sometimes they are short staffed, depending when you go. But nowaways, since Covid, a bit of that is expected. 5 stars!! read more

My goal for 2017 is to be more organized, so I got a new Moleskin planner...but it was missing a little color, so I decided to go all out and get some planner stickers for it. My sister and I had not been here in a few months, but omg, they rearranged the majority of the store!! The sections were organized differently. It was a little confusing and took a lot of getting used to, but it does make sense. I know I was not the only confused person as another customer came up to me asking if I had passed a specific section and I honestly had to say I did not know. Michaels has always been a favorite of mine especially when it comes to scrap booking from my junior high and high school days. It's sad to say that I do not do that anymore but I feel like I am channeling those skills with my new planner and the stickers I bought. My sister has also been obsessed with the new fad of adult coloring books, so we were trying to find some. If anyone else is curious, they are at the front right before the cashier...definitely an impulse buy. Also, we were in line and my sister mentioned their coupons. Her phone had died so I quickly pulled them up on my phone. There was both at 20% off the purchase and 40% off a single item. We were trying to figure out which one to use, and in talking with the cashier, he told us we could use them both!! SCORE! Great customer service on that end! Overall, it was a great experience and I cannot wait for my next Michael's visit! read more

The store sends a coupon for 40%. When you come to the store you find that the item you specifically came for and not excluded in the coupon is 25%. Rather than let you buy one item for the original 40% that you came to do, you can only get 25%. Why am I wasting time and gas to buy something that is misrepresented as 40% off for any item not excluded in the coupon. This is how corporation get people to come to the stores and spend more than they were promised. read more

Came in today to buy some cotton thread. I called ahead to ask an associate to put some on hold for me. I'm standing in a long line as I'm writing this review. Looking in these carts ahead of me there are some serious crafters! The store is big and from my view seems organized. I like how they have random knick knacks to look at while waiting in line. Minus 1 star because the line is moving terribly slow at 10:50am and there are 8 people ahead of me... Womp. They sell 1 pound Hershey's here!!! read more

This review goes with the 50% off photo I posted. My mother and I were buying material to make a wreath and found some great deals (as pictured) on floral stems for half off already low prices. However, upon checkout, the sale price did not get reflected. We brought this to the sales girl's attention. First, her excuse was this only applied to fall stems. We explained that it was in the section of signature stems, NOT FALL, and the sale sign even clearly states it applies to signature. I even went all the way back to the aisle to snap that photo and bring back to show her. No luck and this time her excuse was that it only applied to certain colored tags and then proceeded to blame it on other sales people placing the ad signs in the wrong place. She had a blase attitude the entire time and never once even offered to check the sign herself or call a manager to assess. First off, great sales skills, girlfriend. The customer is always right, ESPECIALLY when they prove you wrong by showing you a photo of your own store's sale signage. Second of all, false advertisement much? She should have honored the price for that reason alone. It's not the customer's fault that you, or another salesperson for that matter, "supposedly" misplaced the signage. Any other store would have honored it; in fact, this has happened to me at other chain establishments where they gladly acknowledge the mistake and give me the sales price. In retrospect, I wish we would have made her go through the effort of calling a manager to the front, but we were too tired and didn't feel like waiting around any longer. Hopefully management gets to reading this (we are notifying corporate as well) and prevents this from happening again. 1 star for the bad service and false advertising. An additional star because this is the only craft store nearby so I'll inevitably be forced to come back (very reluctantly, I might add.) read more

Huge step up from their last location that they moved from. Nice and clean, good selection, too. They used to allow the checkers to scan their weekly coupon kept behind the register, but no more. So you have to find it on your smart phone. That is a huge waste of time, waiting for the coupon to load, if you forget until the last minute. Doesn't make sense why they don't let the cashier use a store one. Also, hard to get floor help, most of the time in this location. read more

Placed an order on line. Said it was at this location, and ordered would be filled. Received an email said it was ready for pick up. Went within [2] hrs. of placing the order and it was wrong. I drove 36 miles round trip to find this out. I was not happy. I wanted the Fine sand in Tan. It was the light green. Not even a pleasant looking green either. Asked for a credit, the unhappy employee that helped out on #6 was terrible. She said I would not be charged as I did not confirm the order until I got to the store. Guess what? The charge is going through my bank today and I have no merchandise. Didn't offer anything for this which to me driving 36 miles round trip there should have been something. I will never go back to that store again. They can keep their employees and their products. It is amazing to me and Thank God I brought in the last container to make sure that it was the right color. I pulled it out of my bag and said do you see the color it is Tan not Green. She replied well this is the new color. Not on your website it's not. Still says Tan!!!! I come here when I want something specific, and it's on sale, and I have a coupon. There are some things that are just cheapest at Michaels. If you're looking for good service or staff without an attitude, this is NOT the place to go. Both me and my wife have been treated extremely rudely here, for no apparent reason. I don't want to malign the entire staff because I do have good experiences here from time to time, now that I know the two employees to avoid. I just don't like having to figure out my place in line and let people go in front of me just so I can avoid attitude when shopping. I've even gone to the store in the West Valley to avoid shopping at this one. The store itself is usually pretty well organized and clean, and like I said the deals, when they are hot, are red-hot! I wouldn't avoid this particular store, I'd probably just go in knowing that I might get some attitude and be prepared to let it roll off... In any case, that's my review for the Michael's in the ETC. Oh and watch the parking lot here, sometimes it's easier just to park underneath and take the stairs... the parking lot is always madness! read more

I went to Michael's today and bought three items. Went to their new improved no employee scanner, check out. All three items I scanned were marked incorrectly. One was over priced two was underpriced and not all of them were recorded on the receipt. It is way past time to protest stores who drop employees at a time when people need jobs. They spend a bazillion dollars for a new register system that is completely screwed up. I called to talk to a manager and all the prompt says press two to talk to someone it hangs up on you hang onto the line and we'll get right to you it hangs up on you. The prompt on the phone is saying they need workers for the Christmas season. No they need workers at the checkout stands now. Michaels you're losing to JoAnns. The Michael's rep is great but she cannot do it alone. - Definitely make sure you AND your kids all wear clothes that you don't mind getting acrylic paint on. Parents you will get paint splashed on you too! - Our girls took the entire 2 hours for crafts. Went to this Michael's tonight to get some holiday decorations and it was a great experience. This store is well organized and has so many cool things that I wanted to purchase. They have a wide variety of fall and winter decorations that are on sale or reasonably priced. The main reason I wanted to write a review for this store is because this is the second time I've been here and both times the staff was so helpful and friendly. Everyone working here seems to have a positive attitude and they're so friendly. One employee helped me to find an item that I was struggling to find and we had a nice chat as we walked to find the item. The cashier was also so sweet and friendly. She really helped to leave us feeling happy with the entire experience as we left the store. This store also gives out a lot of good coupons and always seems to have great deals.
