Lazy and rude employees! Ordered online for curbside, called ahead to let them know I'm arriving right before 6pm. I call at 5:55pm and get hung up on, I call back get hung up on again. So I went to the door and 2 female employees walk right past the door saying we're closed at 6:01pm. If you answered the phone i wouldn't have went up to the door at 6:01... Big store with great merchandising. First time we went through it I was very impressed. Subsequent visits have been generally positive. They carry some unusual yarns not available in Westlake or Moorpark. A fun place to come with our grandson when we're in the Valley. He found inspiration there for a project he was doing for his entrepreneurial school a couple years ago, which made him very excited. If I'm on the hunt for something, I'd rather try to find it here rather than the Westlake store, if I'm away from home territory. The main downgrade of stars is for checkout counters. They usually have a number of cashiers, which is good. But they act like they're only there for the paycheck and have zero interest in the guests. Totally rote. It's a shame. Doesn't take much to be friendly and portray a bit of curiosity. It's a creative business - crafters tend to like it when store personnel are intrigued by what someone plans to make. The store sends a coupon for 40%. When you come to the store you find that the item you specifically came for and not excluded in the coupon is 25%. Rather than let you buy one item for the original 40% that you came to do, you can only get 25%. Why am I wasting time and gas to buy something that is misrepresented as 40% off for any item not excluded in the coupon. My goal for 2017 is to be more organized, so I got a new Moleskin planner...but it was missing a little color, so I decided to go all out and get some planner stickers for it. My sister and I had not been here in a few months, but omg, they rearranged the majority of the store!! The sections were organized differently. It was a little confusing and took a lot of getting used to, but it does make sense. I know I was not the only confused person as another customer came up to me asking if I had passed a specific section and I honestly had to say I did not know. Michaels has always been a favorite of mine especially when it comes to scrap booking from my junior high and high school days. It's sad to say that I do not do that anymore but I feel like I am channeling those skills with my new planner and the stickers I bought. My sister has also been obsessed with the new fad of adult coloring books, so we were trying to find some. If anyone else is curious, they are at the front right before the cashier...definitely an impulse buy. Also, we were in line and my sister mentioned their coupons. Her phone had died so I quickly pulled them up on my phone. There was both at 20% off the purchase and 40% off a single item. We were trying to figure out which one to use, and in talking with the cashier, he told us we could use them both!! SCORE! Great customer service on that end! Placed an order on line. Said it was at this location, and ordered would be filled. Received an email said it was ready for pick up. Went within [2] hrs. of placing the order and it was wrong. I drove 36 miles round trip to find this out. I was not happy. I wanted the Fine sand in Tan. It was the light green. Not even a pleasant looking green either. Asked for a credit, the unhappy employee that helped out on #6 was terrible. She said I would not be charged as I did not confirm the order until I got to the store. Guess what? The charge is going through my bank today and I have no merchandise. Didn't offer anything for this which to me driving 36 miles round trip there should have been something. I will never go back to that store again. They can keep their employees and their products. It is amazing to me and Thank God I brought in the last container to make sure that it was the right color. I pulled it out of my bag and said do you see the color it is Tan not Green. She replied well this is the new color. Not on your website it's not. Still says Tan!!!! I went to Michael's today and bought three items. Went to their new improved no employee scanner, check out. All three items I scanned were marked incorrectly. One was over priced two was underpriced and not all of them were recorded on the receipt. It is way past time to protest stores who drop employees at a time when people need jobs. They spend a bazillion dollars for a new register system that is completely screwed up. I called to talk to a manager and all the prompt says press two to talk to someone it hangs up on you hang onto the line and we'll get right to you it hangs up on you. This review goes with the 50% off photo I posted. My mother and I were buying material to make a wreath and found some great deals (as pictured) on floral stems for half off already low prices. However, upon checkout, the sale price did not get reflected. We brought this to the sales girl's attention. First, her excuse was this only applied to fall stems. We explained that it was in the section of signature stems, NOT FALL, and the sale sign even clearly states it applies to signature. I even went all the way back to the aisle to snap that photo and bring back to show her. No luck and this time her excuse was that it only applied to certain colored tags and then proceeded to blame it on other sales people placing the ad signs in the wrong place. She had a blase attitude the entire time and never once even offered to check the sign herself or call a manager to assess. First off, great sales skills, girlfriend. The customer is always right, ESPECIALLY when they prove you wrong by showing you a photo of your own store's sale signage. Second of all, false advertisement much? She should have honored the price for that reason alone. It's not the customer's fault that you, or another salesperson for that matter, "supposedly" misplaced the signage. Any other store would have honored it; in fact, this has happened to me at other chain establishments where they gladly acknowledge the mistake and give me the sales price. In retrospect, I wish we would have made her go through the effort of calling a manager to the front, but we were too tired and didn't feel like waiting around any longer. Hopefully management gets to reading this (we are notifying corporate as well) and prevents this from happening again. 1 star for the bad service and false advertising. An additional star because this is the only craft store nearby so I'll inevitably be forced to come back (very reluctantly, I might add.) read more

So you have to find it on your smart phone. That is a huge waste of time, waiting for the coupon to load, if you forget until the last minute. I come here when I want something specific, and it's on sale, and I have a coupon. There are some things that are just cheapest at Michaels. If you're looking for good service or staff without an attitude, this is NOT the place to go. Both me and my wife have been treated extremely rudely here, for no apparent reason. I don't want to malign the entire staff because I do have good experiences here from time to time, now that I know the two employees to avoid. I just don't like having to figure out my place in line and let people go in front of me just so I can avoid attitude when shopping. I've even gone to the store in the West Valley to avoid shopping at this one. The store itself is usually pretty well organized and clean, and like I said the deals, when they are hot, are red-hot! I wouldn't avoid this particular store, I'd probably just go in knowing that I might get some attitude and be prepared to let it roll off... In any case, that's my review for the Michael's in the ETC. Daniel booked a bday party for my 9-yr old daughter and Delilah hosted it. They were both fantastic! Some tips - Get a couple of volunteer friends to help out. The Michael's rep is great but she cannot do it alone. - Definitely make sure you AND your kids all wear clothes that you don't mind getting acrylic paint on. Parents you will get paint splashed on you too! - Our girls took the entire 2 hours for crafts. We ate lunch and had cupcakes at Pieology first. - Bring some music to play! - Make sure parents drop off kids. Room is too small for all the parents too! - Smocks are tiny and useless. Went to this Michael's tonight to get some holiday decorations and it was a great experience. This store is well organized and has so many cool things that I wanted to purchase. They have a wide variety of fall and winter decorations that are on sale or reasonably priced. The main reason I wanted to write a review for this store is because this is the second time I've been here and both times the staff was so helpful and friendly. Everyone working here seems to have a positive attitude and they're so friendly. One employee helped me to find an item that I was struggling to find and we had a nice chat as we walked to find the item. The cashier was also so sweet and friendly. She really helped to leave us feeling happy with the entire experience as we left the store. This store also gives out a lot of good coupons and always seems to have great deals. Odds are you'll find what you're looking for. It's a giant craft store, good selection, good coupon deals. I normally go to the Burbank store but this was on my way home from work. I'm never impressed with the customer service here. It's the basic of basic retail. Yesterday was no exception. A rather uppity customer ahead of me in line seem to need too much customer service. When she left the cashier yelled across the the space between registers at her co-worker "I hope her tree blows away in the wind" (she bought a small fake tree and it was windy outside.) Cut to older coworker that yells back "maybe she's on her period." Well isn't that nice to know you're talking behind a paying customers back like that. And such a pleasant workplace appropriate topic in front of customers. It's good to know you think the root cause of bad behavior is a woman's menstrual cycle. Way to put your own gender down. Because they double charged me, and when I asked to see what can be done, they tell me to stand in line ALL over again (mind you I am counting 15 people in line right now) before they will help correct THEIR mistake. Unsure why they have such low ratings here? I love this place. I find myself browsing the asiles just for fun. They have always been helpful, things are clean and in their place. There's always a line but it moves quickly and the cashiers are always extra nice and patient. I got a painting reframed and while it cost a fortune, the did a great job, advised well on what style would look best and had it done on time. The guy who helped me was named Art, so fitting. They always have coupons you can google. My kids took a few of their art classes last summer and it was ok. A bit basic but still fun and very reasonably priced. The seasonal stuff is great and they have well priced crafts, goody bags etc for kids and birthday parties. read more

This Michaels is better than the Fallbrook one for two reasons: first, the carts can actually be taken to the parking lot, a huge convenience, and second, the line was not unbearably long and slow moving. The location itself was just as well stocked and organized as the Fallbrook Michaels. So other than those two differences, not much to report. Tried using gift cards I've been holding onto for 3 years and finally had a purpose to use them but their system was having problems (what else is new Michaels?) and wouldn't take my cards. After waiting for at least half an hour at the register, the manager I assume (old, frumpy looking dude) came over to only say, "There's nothing we can do". What kind of customer service is that?? I wish this location was better staffed. Every time I have come here, there is never anyone on the floor to assist with questions. There are only people at the register. Furthermore, there are only ever about 2 registers open so the line takes 30 minutes to get through (not an exaggeration). My biggest qualm is that the one time someone was on the floor and I asked them a question, they gave me a completely incorrect answer. I asked which paints were safe for skin and the man replied "all of them". That is completely incorrect and could be hazardous if someone working with kids had listened to him and bought whatever paint they felt like. Acrylics can be irritating on skin - especially children's skin. And if a child ate the paint it could be worse. If a worker does not know the answer, then they should make it clear they are not sure. People look to the workers for advice and guidance. Came today around 5:30 to get some paint for a free desk I got. Daniel greeted me when walking in, and took me to the isle. I explained I never painted furniture and had no clue what I was doing. He explained that press board has a laminate finish, and this paint may or may not work. He was smiling and took his time helping me understand what to do. I do not go to Home depot, since no one ever helps you, nor gives a shit! This young man deserves a raise. He has great customer service skills!
