My husband and I love to buy our picture frames from here because they have a varied sizes and qualities. They are not outrageously priced like other places and they look nice on the wall. On our last visit no one asked if we needed help checking out and it was pretty obvious that two elderly people were trying to figure out the checkout system. After a few minutes we figured it out. Something I feel the need to add: we came back to see if they had a particular frame still in stock, and they did. I'm happy to know we can count on an inventory item being there even after a year. Great help with a matte for our family summer vacation photo - Thanks! We have shopped at Michael's for years, and have liked the Ballwin, and now the Ellisville locations. We have recently purchased oil paints and canvasses, acrylic paints, and markers for our daughter and her artistic interests. The new store is nice and staff has always been helpful and friendly. My wonderful wife and I are framing some photos from our family summer vacation. We found some nice frames at Michael's, thankfully on sale. We also needed a matte for an existing frame and photo... and we found one just the right color... but the frame was an off size, so it needed cutting. We are thankful that the lady (Olivia) working the framing area was resourceful... she worked diligently to get the matte cut just-right so it would fit in the frame. It took her longer than expected, but se got it working... and the photo and the frame look great thanks to the matte. Thank you for your diligence! We'll be back soon! read more

I love this place!!! The old location was tucked within a strip mall on busy Manchester that made it difficult to get to. I absolutely love that they moved to this new location on the corner of Clarkson and Manchester. The store front is easily visible and there are plenty of sparking spaces up front. (Be sure to drive around the strip mall to see what other stores have moved in. There are some great new stores and restaurants! - Great Harvest, Party City, Popeyes, Tuesday Morning.) Walking into the new space is so refreshing as everything is neatly organized, making it super easy to find things. Their inventory seems to always be full and changing so whenever I stop by there's something I haven't seen before. It offers the creative mind to take charge and fabricate cool DIY projects! We recently took advance of their custom framing service and really appreciated the 1-on-1 service with the manager (Greg). He walked us through the different frames and offered suggestions on what he felt might work with the prints we brought in. He took the time to show us different variations of color, texture, and effect. You could tell he loved his work. :] In the end, we felt pretty confident with the choices we made and placed an order for 6 custom frames. We can't wait to pick them up! (Oh yea, I forgot to mention the amazing sale going on that saved us some $650!!! Yes, please!) Will be back? My I lost my grandparents last year and they meant a lot to me. So when I came across their original garden gnome in front of their house, I decided it could guard my front apartment door. However it needs some tender loving care. So I came to Michaels to get some paint and I loved that their smaller paints were only 70 cents a piece!! I was in and out very quickly, and didn't have an issue with finding anything in the store. I can't wait to get home and paint the gnome and bring him back to life. My only reason for docking a star was because the girl who was checking out didn't seem all that friendly. Clean but awful customer service. The place is tidy however aisles are extremely small that you cant have more than one person in the aisles. The main areas have pretty decent room. I have been there dozens of times and no one seems like they really want to be there. I've also encountered people smoking right by the door. I am an ex-smoker but even as a smoker you can still have the smell come into the entrance or while exiting going on to customers walking by. They have decent sales to keep in competition with others but again it boils down to customer service. If youre looking for something unless its a manager, you will just keep getting passed off onto someone else. read more

I love the new location, so close to my house, easy to get to when I need to be in and out fast. Sometimes I struggle to find what I need, and it's hard to find staff, they always only seem to have one or two people working, but I eventually get by. Only downfall is that they will only price match certain coupons. If Joanns is having a 60% off one item they will only match it up to 50%. Makes it a lot easier for other companies to have better sales/discounts to get people in their store. read more

This Michael's was nice originally but has unfortunately gone way downhill. Frequently there are 8-15 people waiting in line during day time business, with only one checker working. Rarely can anyone who works there tell you where anything is, or whether something is in stock. Today a lady told me "I don't know I've only been working here a couple of months - maybe try Joann's." You are better off going to the Michael's in Des Peres on Manchester Rd. They have more selection and more knowledgeable employees and it's not that far. This Michael's just really doesn't care and they're not shy about letting you know. read more
