Seasonal update: as of Oct this year, the store is well stocked for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas...LOL. I am sure more Thanksgiving and Christmas items will be added after October since the fall decors are already mostly on sale for 40-50% off. They have a good selections of fabric, yarns, art supplies, crafty tools and more. Inside the store: very clean, well organized, some almost empty shelves, my guess is they are prep for new shipment arrivals. Service: friendly. I did not see many staff on the floor, but the ones I ran into were all very friendly, especially the cashiers out front were very helpful. There are a good amount of sales going on throughout the store with great pricing. Conveniently Located in a large shopping center next to Old Navy and Safeway with ample parking options. In store pre-order pickup and curbside pickup are both offered here. Definitely recommend this location for craters, artists, and any creative minds. read more

Visited this Michael's for some art supplies and I was able to find a wide selection of what I needed. There are many items to browse and there seem to be some good discounts. They seem to have everything you need in the area of frames, decorations and the like. They do have self checkout which speeds things along. read more

I finally found the frames I have been looking for. It took a while, but I just happened to be at the right store at the right time. I had given up hope that I was going to find them but decided to take one more shot at it. I walked in and made my way back to the frame department. Hopping from one aisle to the next and saw that they were having the just right sale for me to finally capture the frame I needed. I actually wanted some help at one point, but it was like every time I went to approach the lady that was working the frame department she would run the opposite direction. Kind of like a video game where I needed to complete the task on my own but I had to waste some time prior to realizing this was a task made just for me. It wasn't very busy in here, when I got to the register it was a bit drawn out. I think when I first got here there was only one associate running the registers. Went in to return an item that I bought online, what a horrible experience ! The kid who had badge that said she is working there since 2021 had no clue how to process a return online order. I showed them the online order number, they kept saying we don't sell this item at our store. I almost got confused if it was really Michaels store or I entered the adjacent staples store. Then they asked me to insert the card that I used for purchase, for which I told them I used PayPal. She calls the manager, who is also confused how to process the return. Finally they agreed to give me store credit. All in all it's really a bad experience and I am hesitant to buy anything online at Michaels. They should train associates here better. read more

I ordered Christmas items from the Michael's website, and the store will not allow me to return the items because they were sold through a third party (on their website). The items that were not from a third party, and should have been returnable, they won't take back because the warehouse sent the wrong (but very similar). They said that it was an error at the warehouse, so I have to send it back to the warehouse! Now, I've been on hold with customer service for 10 minutes and no one has picked up. So I came here to get my mentally ill uncle some art supplies. 03/14/20 morning time. Cleanliness: I must say at first glance this store was immaculately clean. Nothing was out of order. There was spacious isles and each isle was number clearly if you looked towards the roof of the store. Customer service: Every single employee was helpful. There was one particular employee they we asked questions over and over again and she never had an attitude. Even though she was working she stopped every time to answer my questions. I will tell you that meant so much to me because right now with this corona Bria crap everyone is irritated and anxious. We were able to find all the items we needed and once I approached the register the cashier provided and additional coupon and I was very appreciative. Lazy workers. I was searching for a particular item, online says it's available at this stores location, so I drove an extra 5 miles out of my way from the other Michaels to go get it. Arrived at the store at 8:39 PM, didn't see it on the shelf, however I saw it stocked up in a bin on top of the shelf. Went to ask a worker there if she could assist me in looking for it, but got dismissed by another worker who overheard my request. The other worker said "if we don't have it on the shelf, then we don't have it." I pointed out to her that online says it's available and that I saw some on the top bin. Immediately, got a replied of "nope sorry we don't have it". Needless to say, the original worker said she would look for it for me on the shelf. I told her that I already looked and it wasn't there. I asked if she could look in the bin. She said "no you would have to wait until tomorrow when they restock it" I understand that I came in close to the time of closing, however this does NOT justified workers to stop working and providing customer assistance just because it's close to closing time. If you need assistance on looking for something, don't bother coming here! These workers need to understand that providing customer service is a necessity during the ENTIRE store hours. Michael's is a nice craft store that l visit primarily when they have a sale and/or coupons. I am a bit of a crafter and when l am in the mood, l will come to shop, coupons in hand. Most of the stores have the same layout. To sell so many small crafting items, the store stays fairly organized. I always go to the beading section to see what captures my eye. I came upon a 40% off beads sale and purchased a few. The checkout line, because of the holidays, was long, but quick as all of the registers were open. The associate was pleasant and l whipped out my phone so that they could scan my coupon. Easy breezy. Make sure you check the coupons they give you with your receipt as they sometimes have 40 and 50% off a regular price item to use during that week. I also noticed at the bottom of one of my receipts a $5 off of a $25 purchase if you took an online survey and got a code, so be on the lookout for those. One of the main reasons that l like Michael's is that they have a 180 day return policy, one of the best among retail stores. read more

Had the pleasure of attending the yarn sale. Yes the yarn sale. They carry a large beautiful selections of yarn (skeins). No matter the craft you are into you are sure to find the right skeins for your patterns. My favorite pass time is knitting. While walking down the clean aisle with everything in its place my mind was conjuring up all kinds of hats, scarves, sweaters and socks I want to make in 2016. At this location the yarns are in the back with clearance items. Which gives you time to see more deals. The staff is always friendly and helpful (special using store coupons). They offer classes as well. Want to decorate a cake? Begin crochet? No problem they have you covered. I like the community board/table with all information and events. When looking to get art framed, it's either something inexpensive and you don't want to spend the money on a custom frame or it's really expensive, and you'll go to a dedicated framing shop. I always wondered who it was that would go to Michaels to get stuff framed. Apparently me now. I had a few paintings from my honeymoon to Africa I want framed. I didn't want to spend hundreds framing them, but they really needed to go back on a stretcher at least. Right now, the gift to my mother is with a professional framing shop going on a stretcher, but one we got for ourselves we decided to give Michaels a try to save money. I just picked it up, and they did a wonderful job framing it for about the price the professional place will charge to put it on a stretcher. Framing is an art form as well as a service. When you go to Michaels, be prepared to look through options. They have a cool camera that lets you get an idea of what the final product will look at, and that helps, but don't expect the level of knowledge of a professional frame shop. The plus side to that is you can be much more assertive and try funky things. With the sale they were having (50% off of framing materials) it came to under 200 bucks for an archival glass frame and stretcher for the painting. Would I do more art work there? If they have similar sales, it's a really good deal for certain items. It's still expensive, so I'd rather find pre-made frames whenever possible. They give many warnings on how they're not liable... so if I wanted an expensive or otherwise valuable piece of art done, I would rather pay more at a well reviewed framing shop for peace of mind. But, between sales and technology, Michaels is worth stopping by about that art work you weren't going to have framed because the frame shop quoted you $400 bucks and now it's been sitting in your closet. read more

I was very impressed with her knowledge, the matting/framing options, and reasonable price. This store and Michael's in general terrible at updating the website as to the availability and quantity of inventory. I've placed an order online to pick up in store only to have my order cancelled without my consent the following day due to product unavailability (as I found out later; the actual reason was not given in the cancellation email). I then contacted Michael's live support chat (Candace D) which was less than helpful and offered no additional avenues as far as the remediation of the issue. The representative simply checked the website as I would have done myself to see if there are any stores in the area which would carry an item (interestingly enough locating this very store, listing the item as in stock despite not having any in the actual store). The cost of the shipping was 50% of the actual item cost ($15 surcharge on a $30 item), which needless to say is imprudent. Would advise to beware shopping here if you believe you should have to contact Michael's post-purchase for any reason. Regarding this store specifically: the associates are somewhat helpful in locating the inventory they're familiar with; the cashiers however are awful. They're terribly unrushed, engaging in useless conversations with clients and creating long, unnecessary lines. The cashier that processed my purchase actually spent time examining and talking about the person's (who just have paid) jewelry instead of calling the next customer ready to pay over to the register. read more

Very, very disappointed in Michael's Corp decision to do away with custom floral arrangements and wreaths at the store located on Montgomery Road in Ellicott City, MD. Many folks from other areas used to come to this store to purchase these beautiful arrangements and wreaths. I often purchased these and gave them away as gifts, and it was always a big hit to the recipient. It also inspired me to make my own, but slightly different. I would often pay for ribbon and pay for these folks to make me bows. I feel this store stands to lose a lot of money (floral, wreaths, ribbons...)without those ladies. Michael's no longer has what I came to the store to purchase. I can purchase florals and supplies any where. read more

This is a typical Michael's with the same layout as other stores. I find that this particular location is kept a lot cleaner than other locations. Doesn't have that "dirty" feel. Usually short staffed it looks like for the mornings/afternoons, but that's pretty much most Michael's... Longer lines then. It's also in the same shopping lot at other stores like Target, Kohls, B&N, so it's also very convenient! Use the weekly coupons through your smart phones (through their website); definitely saves you $$ to use their coupons. read more

We came here looking for a few special things for Christmas. Yes me and my wife was last minute Christmas shoppers looking for a specific item and found something even better. This was my first time at this establishment and I was pleasantly surprise to see how helpful the staff was doing the busiest time of the year. We bought a couple of items since everything in the store was half price or buy one get one free. I will be defiantly be coming back here again I gave this store four out of five even-though they deserved a rating of five stars. read more
