She promised to get another one right away. Luckily for me, it happened to be the day of Stitch and Pitch before the game. Our Stitch and Pitch preparations included some trips to the both yarn and craft stores. French Knots is a great, little yarn store tucked in a small office like complex. Walking in the store, you're greeted by two very welcoming employees and yarn lining the walls. The owner helped us out immediately with the Addi Turbo needle and my mom's DPN desire. French Knots has a great needle selection ranging from Addi Turbo to Lantern Moon to Clover. Though we weren't there for yarn, my yarn loving self wandered through the many different yarns. They have so many lovely yarns and brands that I've only heard about like Louet, Lorna's Laces, and Reynolds. Their yarn selection just blew me away. It's also neatly organized and a table for classes sits in the middle of the room. I had a great experience here picking up my replacement Addi Turbo and drooling over some seriously amazing yarn. The staff was helpful and we exchanged local yarn store cards. Later at Stitch and Pitch, the owner greeted me with a smile. I'll be back for some good hard to find yarn and great service.

My favorite yarn shop closed a couple of years ago and so I had been buying yarn online. I was in a bind and needed some to knit up a weekend project for my coworker's baby and found Fiberwood on Yelp. It's in a nice location in 'Tosa in a residential area so it's not very crowded and you should have no trouble finding parking, especially since they are only open during the day. I walked in and browsed around there were 3-4 other people in there receiving help with projects. The first thing I noticed is that there weren't that many yarns, but the yarns they do carry were a decent quality. Cascade 220 in a variety of colors, ECO Wool, Malabrigo....I was happy with the color selection of the Cascade 220s, but the colors I was interested in did not have enough skeins for me to complete the project. After I browsed, I was greeted by a person I believe to be the owner. I showed her the pattern for the hooded baby wrap and that I was looking for a yarn and open to restrictions as long as it was a natural fiber. We looked at a few options and I eventually settled on the Malabrigo Mecha super wash in Dewberry at $15.95 each. If you need needles, books, or patterns, she has that as well. I'm not sure what brand of needles (I'm an Addi Turbo fan), but I did see she had them on the wall. They accept cash, Visa and MasterCard and she bagged the yarn for me. I really appreciated her help and I would definitely go back if I needed certain yarns. I wish I could have given four stars, but I had to take off work to go there because of the hours and there were quantity shortages for all of the yarn colors I was interested in the Cascade 220. This would be limiting for larger projects like blankets or sweaters, but it is a smaller shop less targeted towards yarn, so I understand.

The current owner of the yarn store, who is often on site, can tell you the history of the mill and store. She's a wonderful conversationalist and you'll just want to grab a hot cocoa and listen to how she's managed the store over the years. The store is filled with beautiful textiles that just make you want to lay down and make yarn snowmen. That's a thing! Right? I love walking through and looking at all the textures and colors. Every corner has something that captures my eye or attention. All the events provide coupons, gifts, and ideas to encourage purchasing at reasonable prices. There's a "secret" room in the neck with discounted yarn. Do NOT miss this special room. There are beautiful choices in that room that allow you to make full projects at reasonable prices The best part though is the coziness of the shop. There are little nooks and crannies in which to sit and create beautiful things. I like to bring my needles and yarn and just sit in the gathering area crocheting while people come and go. The constant movement, chatter, and energy of people around me while my service dog sleeps near my feet feels like a little retreat. It calms my spirit to get in this shop! The shop has events, classes, workshops, and is an amazing community of talented textile artisans eager to share their skills and knowledge. The owner is proud to share the space with community members. She and her staff make this a warm welcoming place to hang out. It's a getaway in the Village. An unassuming little spot that you'll have no reason to seek out but once you find it, you'll never want to leave! People make it wonderful! The yarn and activities make the shop feel like home! Drop in and fall in love with The Grafton Yarn Store. Save me and the dog a seat!
