Dr. Zidile has hands-down the worst bedside manner I ever experienced. He showed me almost zero empathy, made disrespectful assumptions about my lifestyle that were inaccurate, and botched my bone graft surgery which caused me trauma that I would not wish on anyone. Truly would not recommend anyone try to endure his carelessness about anyone's feelings. Who cares if the dental work is good if I left traumatized and then disrespected repeatedly? This was my first dental implant experience and I was referred to Dr. Michael Zidile by my primary dentist. Dr. Zidile runs a truly outstanding practice - professional, skilled, knowledgeable, compassionate, respectful - efficient however I never felt rushed. All of his personable staff were a joy to be with. With his state-of-the-art technology, I was always informed, learned a lot and was reassured seeing his office was consistently Covid conscious. Dr. Zidile is a good listener, willing to explain every detail and prepared a comprehensive long-term plan for me (with pricing) which was open to revisions. He relieved all my apprehension about the procedure and amazingly! there was never pain. I was given printed material for aftercare and the doctor and his team were available by phone and email for questions every step of the way. I first visited Dr. Michael Zidile almost 3 years ago at the behest of my general dentist. Short story: my front tooth broke off and couldn't be repaired. As you can imagine, I was very anxious. After meeting Dr. Zidile, he described all the options in detail and I elected to replace the tooth with a dental implant. I can tell you that aside from the immaculate office and friendly staff, I was impressed by his bedside manner and his patience with me (can you blame me for being a nervous wreck?). I was surprised that the procedures themselves were painless and short. I felt I was in capable hands throughout my treatment. I have recommended him to another friend who also had a pleasant experience. I recently saw him again for a routine checkup and everything looks perfect. read more

Dr. Zidile and staff from receptionist, the appointment person, the X-ray person were very friendly, comforting, went out of way to make sure I was comfortable, very professional yet human and down to earth. It seems that Dr. Zidile has all the excellent credentials On his wall I think NYU dental school but I'm not sure I believe I saw that on his wall. It appears they have the most up-to-date technology and equipment although I am no expert on that I've been to other dentists and I've never seen equipment like this. I also get the impression Dr. Z loves his work and makes sure all the bases are covered with his practice. Everyone there works very hard! read more

I had a serious situation. A tooth with decay and gum recession. I was referred to Dr. Zidele to get a tissue graft. Not something one looks forward to. I'd say everything about the procedure went very well. Dr. Zidele explained what I was to expect and his very kind and competent staff put me at ease. His office is cheery and spotless. He was extremely attentive during and after the procedure and followed up with appointments several times afterwards to evaluate the work. I had a receding gum on a oddly rotated tooth. Dr. Zidile and his staff took very good care of me. They took a skin graph from my upper pallet, and grafted it to my gum. Dr. Zidile prescribed scaling & planing for the condition I came to him with. It seemed a bit extreme, so I sought out a second opinion. The periodontist I visited next was shocked at Dr. Zidile's recommendation. He solved my problem with a quick procedure and it healed wonderfully. Dr. Zidile's office is very "high-tech" (I was shown images of my teeth on a giant projection screen), but fancy equipment doesn't necessarily mean honest dentistry. I can't vouch for his handiwork (if you do in fact have a serious condition, perhaps he is good at the procedures he does) but before you go under the knife, I'd get a second opinion. read more

Like another reviewer here, who wrote "fancy equipment doesn't necessarily mean honest dentistry," I came away from my consult appt. feeling pretty scammed.When I made the appt., I thought it was a bit strange there was an upfront charge of $150 (I'm a regular in dental offices of many sorts and this is the first time I've seen such a charge). I asked whomever I spoke to -- a very kind woman with a pleasant voice -- whether that would be covered by insurance and if this could be checked in advance and was told they wouldn't submit the claim beforehand (why not?) but that it's usually covered by most insurances, if not in full, then usually most of it. Since I knew my dental plan is a quite good one -- it does indeed cover most things, including crowns in full, fillings and quarterly cleanings -- I decided to proceed (maybe consultation fees are a periodontist thing?). However, as it later turned out, my plan doesn't even cover a third of their consultation fee ($38 out of $150). At the end of the consult, Dr. Zidile tried to talk me into scheduling an appt. and going ahead with the procedure without waiting first for the insurance company's verdict as to how much they'd pay (which he said could take months). His argument was that I'd end up paying for it anyway in the end, as they're not likely to pay for that AND the crown my primary dentist would later need to put on the tooth afterward, since many insurances have caps (I am told mine does not). But my insurance wouldn't even pay in full for the consult, and I am out $112. Yes, dentist offices must be profitable, and you don't become a doctor purely out of goodwill (I'm not under any illusion that you shouldn't be paid for your time and expertise). But when patients are charged a large upfront fee, and then told that fee is likely to be reimbursed, we tend to trust what we are told by those who deal with these things every day. Later, I spoke to my insurance company, who informed me that Dr. Zidile is actually OUT-OF-NETWORK for my insurance plan. My insurance company further informed me that it was the doctor's obligation to tell me about this and -- as I had mentioned that I was a member of that plan over the phone with his office, THAT WAS WHEN I was assured that most insurances fully reimburse this consultation fee. I'm not arguing that these details were intentionally omitted, only that they might have, if they weren't sure whether my plan covered their consult fee or whether they even are in-network, at least checked on this for me. After recovering from the fact that I'd simply lost this money, I booked an appointment with another periodontist I found on Zocdoc, with very high reviews. When I asked, the office told me the consult didn't cost anything, and then they asked me (without my inquiring about it) what my insurance was so that they could make sure I was covered. Totally different way of operating. This dentist was excellent, and, unlike Dr. Zidile, he kept referring to my insurance, saying "Let's make sure you're covered." I then realized how strange and anomalous my experience with Dr. Zidile and his office were. As that other reviewer said, perhaps Dr. Zidile is a highly accomplished dentist, perhaps very able to perform the procedures he does. But why can't they run the insurance first before you make an appointment, and really, what's with the consultation fee? I guess the more we stand for this sort of thing, the more we endorse it becoming the way things are. Anyway, I write all of this in the hopes of saving you your time and money (or making sure you check to see that Dr. Zidile covers you before you seek his services), or in Dr. Zidile's office reading this and taking my case and future patients' interests into consideration. read more

I an really happy with Dr. Zidile's services. He is considerate and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible. He spent a lot of time with me, going over the treatments and procedures in detail and gave helpful tips. He was clear, direct, courteous the entire time. The practice is excellent. I had to get a molar pulled after my 10-year old root canal cracked. Dr Zidile did a great job getting it out, using all sorts of modern gadgets and medical technology to efficiently get the job done. His staff are warm and reassuring, quietly working behind the scenes to make sure everything runs smoothly. If you can, avoid ever having to have a tooth pulled, but if you must, then Dr. Zidile is definitely a good choice of a doctor to do it. Next up: implant. So, more later. read more
