So relieved that Dr. Avino was able to squeeze me in the day after my initial phone call. He recommended otc pain relief with surgery as the last resort. He also molded a cast of my feet to fit me for orthotic inserts. Hoping the orthotic inserts help both my bunion and knee pain. Added bonus is his assistants are also sweet & kind. That alone was a great sign for me because I was in so much pain. The office seems small from the outside but it really quite spacious. First thing you notice is how clean and neat everything is, but also very inviting. That goes for the exam room too. Unlike some offices where you see a lot of people waiting, I was the only one at that time. That's because Dr. Watanabe really takes the time to explain and go over everything with you. She takes time to answer questions, and also working with you to find the best solution for you. I definitely left the appointment more informed of what I needed to do and what I needed to expect in terms of recovery, and for me it means no exercise until further notice. But in the name of getting better. You gotta do what you gotta do.

My mom went in for toe nail clippings and Dr WATANABE did an amazingly awesome nail clip job! She is very thorough with her exams, explains well, kind and compassionate with patients! It was kinda cute but didn't go away. It reminded me of that small kid time thing a ma jig tube you squeeze and roll a tiny jelly like ball onto a straw and blow. What we did as kids. Thank goodness it didn't smell like that product. Dr. Kristy told me on the first visit it's coming from the first joint on that toe so place a Kleenex on it and press. It didn't break and remained. So I made another appointment since it started to hurt when I pressed on it plus majorly not attractive. Long story short she advised me that she'd cut, spread it open, take out the joint and remove the bump which one day popped on its own without healing. 1/9/26 Went into surgery with Dr. Kristy and a fantastic team at Pali Momi. Five days later on 1/14/26 went in for a follow up. Was curious to see what the little toesy would look like...I imagined the worst so at the unveiling I was SO majorly pleased that the toe didn't flop without the first joint and wasn't badly discolored or bruised. Dr. Kristy explained it all depends on the healing process it could still flap- hideous! I'll do my best to heal well and come back on 1/22/26 to remove the stitches then go get a vibrant red colored pedicure with bling pronto to celebrate. Enter Dr. Kristy Iwahashi-Marquez. She's young, petite, sweet and very knowledgeable. Every concern I had she gave a concrete easily understood answer explaining the possible causes of what I was experiencing. The test was I closed my eyes and I had to say yes whenever I felt the item in her hand touch any part of my feet. She gave me the name of a cream I can get on Amazon and a prescription for socks and a list of 6 places I can get it filled. She assured me my feet were fine and come back in a year unless I need to return sooner. All done, that was a good visit. Why not 5 stars? Nothing major. My appointment was at 11:30 a.m. There was a 22 minute wait before being seen.

Not only did Dr. Avino get to the root cause of the problem, he was impressively thorough, making sure that before he took a step, checking first that I would be an appropriate candidate so there would be no complications. He had a lab check for cancer to be on the safe side. He is very personable, and interested in you as an individual personality, and fun to talk to. He gives plenty of information and advice. Dr. Avino has it all--the medical knowhow, desire to cure, thoroughness, caring and interest in the patient, and excellent bedside manner. If it were possible to give him more than 5 stars, I would, so I would have to say that Dr. Avino is off the chart.

I was looking for a bone doctor closer to home vs driving to town. After meeting Dr.Mariya O. I plan to switch to her. She is young, pretty and so thorough. Besides an X-ray of my knee, she also approved a wrist and hip X-ray while I was down on the 2 nd floor's Imaging Department. She hails from Bulgaria and England. She is great! She answered all my questions, went over every X-ray with easy explanations. She pinpointed where the aging of arthritis has set in and what treatments I can seek at home and medically. She administered a shot to my right knee( which made the hardest contact when my left foot Went like the White Rabbit down a hole in the ground) The soft tissue is still puffy like a marshmallow. She referred me to a hand specialist which made 2 nd point of contact to break the forward, downward almost belly flop propulsion to the ground. It's a wonder the Palisades neighborhood didn't feel tremors. As for my hip X-rays I asked her what's that black section that looked like bubbles at the top left corner. She said, that's gas in your bowel. Oh my- good one. Then she asked do you have pain in your groin? No I replied then thought... that's another story. I am very happy that Dr. Michael Chun(podiatrist) referred me to that office two days after the mishap and I fortunately have met Dr. Mariya O.to take care of me. He couldn't very well miss the pizza party as our older one ordered and was carrying the many boxes of pizza to the field with the help of a family friend's son. Even though it's a Sunday and just a drop off, you must pull a ticket, enter, then make a U- ey back out for no charge. Luckily have been here before for the doctor that does our colonoscopy.
