That alone was a great sign for me because I was in so much pain. The office seems small from the outside but it really quite spacious. First thing you notice is how clean and neat everything is, but also very inviting. That goes for the exam room too. Unlike some offices where you see a lot of people waiting, I was the only one at that time. That's because Dr. Watanabe really takes the time to explain and go over everything with you. She takes time to answer questions, and also working with you to find the best solution for you. I definitely left the appointment more informed of what I needed to do and what I needed to expect in terms of recovery, and for me it means no exercise until further notice. But in the name of getting better. You gotta do what you gotta do.

How am I supposed to trust a new doctor to perform surgery on my foot when his office staff has…read morebeen so unprofessional and dismissive? I am a brand new patient of Dr. Byron Carrasco and have only seen him two times, and I am extremely disappointed with how the office staff has handled a billing dispute. On July 16, 2026, I was billed for two separate line items: "DUP-SCAN LXTR ART/ARTL BPGS COMPL BI STUDY" (the duplex ultrasound) for $444.33, and "NON-INVAS PHYSIOLOGIC STD EXTREMITY ART 2 LEVEL" for $149.14. I am not disputing the $444.33 ultrasound charge -- that test was performed. I am disputing the $149.14 physiologic study charge. To my knowledge, no blood pressure cuff was ever applied to me -- only the ultrasound wand was used, and the entire visit lasted about 15 minutes. This test is specifically defined by cuff-based pressure measurements, which did not happen. I called the billing department first, who told me they're a separate company and have no say over the doctor's charges -- I'd need to contact the office directly and ask for "Armi." I called and left a message on August 27th at 11:17 AM, and again on August 28th at 9:39 AM, with no callback either time. I sent a detailed written dispute through MyChart on August 30th, explaining exactly why I believed the charge was wrong, and got no response. I followed up again on MyChart on September 1st. Still nothing. On September 3rd, I called at 9:06 AM and left another message asking for Armi to call me back. I called again at 11:40 AM and reached a live person, who told me -- relaying a message from Armi -- that both charges were for the ultrasound. I tried to explain that the second procedure was never performed and should not have been billed to me. That's also not accurate; my own Medicare claim records show "DUP-SCAN LXTR ART/ARTL BPGS COMPL BI STUDY" and "NON-INVAS PHYSIOLOGIC STD EXTREMITY ART 2 LEVEL" as two completely separate, separately priced charges. I called back afterward and told her this was going to make my September 10th follow-up appointment very difficult -- that appointment is for my ultrasound and MRI results, to discuss surgically removing a tumor from my foot, and instead of being able to focus on that with my doctor, I'll have to spend it dealing with a billing dispute his own staff wouldn't resolve. I'm supposed to be able to trust my doctor going into surgery, but instead I've spent two weeks fighting his office over a bill. That's when she hung up on me. I understand billing questions happen, but two weeks of unanswered calls and messages, plus being hung up on by office staff after I explained how much stress this was adding to a serious upcoming medical appointment, is not how any patient should be treated. When does a doctor's office hang up on a patient over a billing question? I have my appointment on September 10th and intend to raise this directly with Dr. Carrasco, but I wanted to share my experience for anyone else considering this office. Julie Panui Update (9/3/26): Minutes after I posted this review, and after posting a message directly to Dr. Carrasco through MyChart, I finally got a callback from Armi. She asked what I needed, which was surprising given the number of detailed messages I'd already left explaining the exact charge in question. I explained again: the $149.14 physiologic study charge, which I don't believe was performed. She was unable to pull up my bill -- she said she doesn't have access to it -- but told me I could bring it with me and speak to the doctor directly at my September 10th appointment. I confirmed I would. I asked her directly: does staff have nothing to do with billing? She confirmed -- she said billing is done entirely by the doctor himself. I told her I've left Dr. Carrasco several MyChart messages myself, and he has never responded. If he's the one who entered these charges, I'd like to understand why, and I don't think I should have to wait until September 10th -- the same appointment where I'm getting my ultrasound and MRI results -- to get an answer about my bill. When I asked why they suddenly called back now, after all my prior messages, she said they're short-staffed. Two and a half weeks, and the first real response only came right after this review went up. Julie Panui

It was kinda cute but didn't go away. It reminded me of that small kid time thing a ma jig tube you squeeze and roll a tiny jelly like ball onto a straw and blow. What we did as kids. Thank goodness it didn't smell like that product. Dr. Kristy told me on the first visit it's coming from the first joint on that toe so place a Kleenex on it and press. It didn't break and remained. So I made another appointment since it started to hurt when I pressed on it plus majorly not attractive. Long story short she advised me that she'd cut, spread it open, take out the joint and remove the bump which one day popped on its own without healing. 1/9/26 Went into surgery with Dr. Kristy and a fantastic team at Pali Momi. Five days later on 1/14/26 went in for a follow up. Was curious to see what the little toesy would look like...I imagined the worst so at the unveiling I was SO majorly pleased that the toe didn't flop without the first joint and wasn't badly discolored or bruised. Dr. Kristy explained it all depends on the healing process it could still flap- hideous! I'll do my best to heal well and come back on 1/22/26 to remove the stitches then go get a vibrant red colored pedicure with bling pronto to celebrate. Thank you Dr. Kristy, nurse Anna and front desk staff. Crossing my fingers that all ends well.

Pros: Efficient…read morescheduling: The clinic's operations are well-organized, and they can often accommodate patients quickly with same-day appointments. Prompt rooming: I was taken to an exam room almost immediately upon arrival. Cons: Unprofessional bedside manner: While I was explaining the intense pain in my right foot, Dr. Cheng interrupted me to take a phone call and stepped out of the room. When he returned, he offered no explanation or apology, leaving me with the impression that he was unconcerned with my care. Lack of clear communication: He provided very little explanation for my condition, simply stating I had "boney spurs on both feet," handed me some pads, and rushed me out of the office. I ultimately had to seek care from another podiatrist to get the proper treatment and answers I needed. Poor billing practices: The billing department is highly disorganized. I was seen in September 2025, but I did not receive a bill until 7 months later in April 2026. The statement indicates that my insurance company communicated what I owed back in November 2025. It is incredibly frustrating and confusing why it took the office so long to send the bill after that information was already provided. Summary: I had high expectations for this office based on positive reviews, but unfortunately, my experience fell short. The lack of patient care and communication, combined with a disorganized billing department, makes it difficult to recommend this practice.

But step in diabetes, where overlooking issues under this condition can be tragic. Just last week at my part time job, a customer came in and I recognized his voice as he's a regular. But I didn't immediately recognize him as he lost a lot of weight and clearly had mobility issues. When I blurted out his name, indeed it was him. He told me he was diabetic and ignored a toe injury where a life-changing procedure slowed him down. For a couple of weeks now, I had what seemed like a blister on one of my toes where it now became 2. It was painful to walk in shoes and when I showed it to family members where one is doing her residency at a large hospital and my sister has been an RN for over 30 years, was told it could be either a blister, callous or wart. I, too, am diabetic and fears crossed my mind. My sister strongly suggested I have it investigated immediately. Step in Ricky Sukita (RS). RS is a podiatrist who has been in practice for over 35 years. Located in Kuakini Physician's Exchange, the office of RS is on the 11th floor. It was so nice to make an appointment where his staff immediately answered the phone when I called. Their records show this wasn't my first time to the office, but I was impressed on the service and professionalism extended to me. I addressed to the staff of my issue and after confirming my address and health insurance plan, I was escorted to an empty office where several minutes later RS showed up. Words cannot express my relief where it was disclosed my issue was callous development. I've had warts before where it was painful and took a long time to resolve. After assessing my regular work and leisure regimen, RS explained of my current condition and how this came all about. He also advised me how to handle this situation and provided me with protection. I appreciated how he informed me and educated me where I understood and didn't feel incompetent that led to my condition. Overall, solid 5-stars to RS and his staff. From making the appointment to walking out of the office after my appointment, there weren't hassles nor stress. I understand RS is taking new patients. If you're looking for a podiatrist, look no further.
