Surgery: 5 stars I…read morehad a droopy eye lid so my optometrist recommended I see Dr. Weiss for surgery to correct the problem. He was incredibly knowledgable about all aspect of the surgery and explained in great detail how the operation was going to be performed and what recovery was going to be like. He was so good with the operation that after my eye healed, I wanted to get it done to my other eye just because of how great of a job he did. Absolutely fantastic work. Logistics: 1 star I called in April to set up my surgery for Sept as they needed extra lead time to get it approved by my insurance. Then two months later, in June, I switched jobs so I called them to let them know my insurance had changed. They confirmed the change on their end so I thought everything was all set. Fast forward to a couple of weeks before my surgery when they called me and said that no one contacted my new insurance company for approval so now I have to reschedule my appointment to two months later. Wtf, I specifically called after my new job just so this stuff could be taken care of but clearly no one did. During consultation, they told me that my operation was covered by insurance because my droopy lid blocked my vision. However, they never told me that I had a deductible and I found out months later in a bill they sent So basically, you're telling me that during all of those times when I was there talking to the doctor, setting up appointments and playing phone tag to get my insurance worked out, you never bothered to explain to me how much this was actually going to be paid? After paying for my deductible with my FSA card over the phone, I told them to mail me the receipt so that I can submit the claim. Of course instead of sending me the itemized receipt that every person using FSA would need, they send me the credit card one which can't be submitted as FSA proof. So I have to call again and wait for another letter. Lastly, while Dr Weiss was great, his assistant isn't. When I was brought into the office, she asked me if I had high blood pressure. I answered no to which she responded with more questions about my exact blood pressure measurement. When I couldn't give her a number, seeing as how I can't measure my own blood pressure off the top of my head, she just made one up and wrote it on my chart! So in conclusion, 5 stars for Dr Weiss and his work, 1 star for all of the logistics surrounding my surgery.

I called the office on Elston and left a message for my doctor asking for another drop no answer. Two days later I called and left another message, no answer. Three days later I went to the Elston Avenue office and talked to one of the clerks who took my information and told me someone would get back to me. Nothing. When I told my personal physician what happened she got me a referral to a new opthalmologist within 24 hours. Beware of dealing with Chicago Arbor Eye Institute.

I credit this practice and specifically Jang Mi Johnson with my life…read more I first went to this derm for a concerning freckle and took the first available appointment with a PA rather than the physician. She was incredibly thorough, a benefit I can only appreciate years later as a melanoma survivor who has seen several doctors less meticulous than she is. She was so good that I continued to see her for my 3-6-9 month visits out of network after I saw other dermatologists once my coverage changed. Jang Mi caught my melanoma early enough for as minimal treatment as possible and monitored me closely. Not only did she thoroughly investigate anything she saw that concerned her but she also reassured me once I was a wary cancer survivor. She never rushed my visits and took time to go over every concern I ever had. She also took a holistic approach, knowing that my husband and I were hoping to have children, and then adjusted my plan of care when I was pregnant and breastfeeding. She is amazing. I happily recommended her to several friends who enjoy her medical advice both cosmetic and vital! As far as the practice, I never had ANY issues with billing even with complicated private insurance and the aforementioned self-pay. I always had a less than 10 minute wait time, could bring my baby to appointments, found the techs and nurses incredibly warm and competent, and got sweet, swaggy free samples at every appointment. Take it from a homesick Chicago expat - GO TO THIS DERM. If I could fly in to go to Jang Mi every visit, I would!

He spent the majority of the call telling me that it gave him anxiety to operate on someone who doesn't live within driving distance of their office. That's a reasonable policy to have in place but I wish that information had been communicated to me before I waited 6 months for this appointment and paid $250. 19 minutes into talking with me, he said he had a patient who was "actually here in the office" and he needed to go. I found this incredibly rude. During our brief call, I got mixed signals from him about whether or not I would be allowed to have surgery since I don't live nearby. By the end of the consult, I asked the doctor point blank if he would recommend surgery and he said yes it would benefit me. He even sent an invoice for surgery! Then, the office informs me that he does not in fact recommend surgery. So Dr. Phelps lied to me during my consult. After a conversation with Jasmine the manager, it was clear that no one was at all sympathetic to my confusion and concerns. I was able to get my consult fee refunded which I was grateful for. However, I received no apologies and, overall, my experience at this facility seems fairly unacceptable for a doctor's office.

Said fillers don't interfere with the lymphatic system. He said he wouldn't dissolve my fillers, that if I was unhappy I had to go elsewhere to get them dissolved. How come he didn't mention this before he injected my face with fillers? Why did he lie about them being temporary ? This dishonest behavior from a doctor shouldn't be legal. He shouldn't be allowed to inject people with anything. My experience has been horrific. Please avoid the tears I had to shed from this experience. I don't understand how these people go to sleep at night when they cause so much suffering for money.

We were able to get in to see Dr. Dutton and his PA Kris Larsen on the same day. The staff was professional and courteous and walked us through completing all of our paperwork online prior to our appointment. We called first thing in the morning on a Friday and were able to be seen within 1 hour of scheduling. We were seen in a timely fashion and felt as though both providers gave my son a thorough examination. Both Dr. Dutton and his PA Kris Larsen were very professional and had a great bedside manner. Both I and my son were comfortable with our treatment plan. They were able to stop the bleeding and were informative on what to do in the event the bleeding restarted. The bleeding unfortunately restarted after office hours. We went to the hospital we knew Dr. Dutton was on staff at even though we live 7 blocks from our local hospital. Although Dr. Dutton was NOT on call for the ED, the ED physician called Dr. Dutton to consult with him regarding my son. It was decided that my son needed to have surgery to stop the bleeding. Dr. Dutton came in and performed the surgery. He was NOT on call & it was a Saturday. I cannot say enough about the care and experience we had. I would recommend any person needing to see an ENT to see him.
