5-star experience all around. At the closest spot for skydiving to central Miami, I continued on my campaign to get over my fear of heights (see profile pic). While it's terrifying, I didn't wet my pants, get sick or chicken out at the last minute (LOL), thanks to the terrific staff. A small backstory: I am indeed terrified of heights taller than a ladder to change a lightbulb. My way to try to get over this is try to find relatively safe ways to de-sensitize my fear (bungee jumping from a utility tower over a stuntman air mattress in Seattle, walking over the glass balcony at the Grand Canyon, etc.). Doc C tries to be supportive in all this (he spotted the billboard for the bungee jumping). However, he has a remarkably unbroken record of headaches, back aches and stomach aches that have mysteriously kept him from personally trying any of these things himself. The folks with Miami Skydiving were calming right off the bat on the phone. They explain the whole thing step by step and even apply a coupon for $10 off, which always makes me mellow. The general price will be about $300, depending on extras (photo purchase, etc). Once you get there, the on-the-ground instructor goes through all the things you need to know. The trainer will be harnessed to your back. If you panic with a death grip on the pull cord, the trainer has a second pull cord. It's like a driver's ed car with a second steering wheel and extra set of brakes. The panic only sets in after the small plane takes you up in the air, packed with you and your fellow jumpers. It's easy to see out the large opening in the side of the plane where you'll be jumping out, and everyone is sort of sitting with knees apart, chest to back of the person in front of them. I was the first in the line-up, with no room for anyone else to get around me, so they couldn't exactly let me back out after we were in the air. The climactic moment is when you fall forward out of the plane, starting the first few moments of free fall. Despite the terror and adrenaline rush, it's remarkably peaceful. You could see Biscayne Bay, the Everglades and even down to the Keys. One fun extra as you're skydiving is the in-air photographer. The photog is in a sort of flying squirrel winged bodysuit, and swoops in and out, up and down, taking pictures of everyone as they fall. The camera is clever, mounted on top of the helmet with the shutter wired to a mouth activated trigger. The pics before your parachute is open will be funny but not very flattering: the rushing wind makes your face look like a basset hound crossed with Donald Trump's hair on a windy day. The later ones after the chute is open, you'll be surprised by how many laughing ones there are, despite the fact you're plummeting toward the ground 10k feet below. By the time you glide in for landing, the adrenaline rush from the terror will have given way to a rush of endorphins. At least half the group was giggling and laughing crazily by the time we were all taking off our safety helmets, etc. My trainer saved the nervous jokes for the van ride back to the airport: "hey I noticed on the plane on the way up that the straps were really frayed but didn't want you to back out...ha! gotcha Joe" read more

Great experience! During the summer the jumps are at Homestead. Was a little hard to find. When you walk in there is a person there to verify your reservation, DL, and weight. They really should have more than one person doing this to speed up the process. Thankfully they send all the forms via email before your jump so that is helpful. All the instructors are super friendly and nice. They tripled explained everything and are very concerned about your safety. Ask for Juan. He was outstanding and captured amazing photos. Thank you, Miami Skydiving Center, and Papi!! What an experience of a lifetime! Made the tandem jump in celebration of my half-century mark. Great present to myself! My friend and I showed up at noon and knew we would have a possible few hour wait due to inclement weather and other groups ahead of us. The time flew by as we practiced jump positions (tuck your feet under plane, arch back, head back...) and visited with other first-timers. The storm finally passed so we were cleared to go up around 3:15. I was very excited and not scared, yet ironically, I am terrified of heights! That fear does come into play....lol. Papi was funny and kept the mood light. He actually records the entire jump (absolutely make sure you pay to have this thing recorded and get the still photos! You will definitely want to relive this. And honestly, even though when you're in the jump it feels like it's in slow motion, it is happening extremely fast and it's been nice to be able to go back and see the photos and laugh my ass off!!!) We got up in the air, I was fine. No worries. Just gonna jump out of the plane and then float down to the earth like I'm on a marshmallow cloud. Yup. ....and then we scooted toward the door and my brain froze. In terror. I am a badass NOW post-jump, but when we scooted over to the door I kid you not: my brain shut down. I couldn't even scream because my vocal cords were frozen. As my sister stated later, in the pictures I was smiling but she could see that my eyes were filled with Terror. When we got out of that plane at 10,000 feet (gulp!) I think I was just in shock and a little disoriented. Thank you, Papi, for taking great care of me! Obviously the jump went well because I'm posting this review! It really is spectacular! I have extreme issues with motion sickness and probably should have taken a Dramamine because I got queasy once the chute was pulled, but all in all, this was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. And no, I did not pee on myself or throw up. I'd say that's a WIN. Papi is probably happy about that too. The team does a great job. I signed up online and you get emails and reminders so they really stay on top of this. We were even called the day before to see if we could show up earlier because bad weather was moving in so we certainly appreciated that since we had a 2 Hour drive to Miami. Btw, we ended up being the last jump of the day! More storms moved in. We were lucky and thankful! Go do it. I came here expecting a really good time and really didn't want to deal with too much, I just wanted to just have a memorable experience and save some photos and video of this day. I tried at least a half a dozen times trying to speak to someone at the facility but at every call, it was a calling center and although they promised to have them call me back, no one ever did. The day I arrived, I checked in and a $10.00 coupon came up that I could use towards my video and or pictures. When I proceeded to show the person behind the counter this, he said I wasn't able to use it and said that I needed to use it when I called in to make my reservation. I told him that it's impossible to do so since I live on the Beach and who checks in a place until they get there? Obviously he didn't want to give the measly $10.00 off an expensive day which turned out to be around $300.00. To me...it's shady; even though my instructor was very good, this small ill-gesture by the person behind the desk left a sour taste in my mouth. Breathtaking birthday gift! Until the last possible moment, I hoped the jump would be cancelled due to bad weather However, I'm incredibly happy I did it. I dedicated this jump to my Mom, she did more than 200 jumps at her youth! This one was my first :) I didn't have enough words to fully describe my feelings and what I experienced while was freefalling. Note, in the past I used to be a professional freestyle skier, and jumping from trampolines was like a piece of cake for me. But skydiving is incomparable in the strength of the experienced sensations. I want to express special gratitude to my instructor Papi! They called us to let us know that we have to come 30 minutes early and we agreed, then as we were in the Uber we got an email saying that they had to cancel us because of winds? It was not windy at all in fact it was the most beautiful day out which is why we were influenced to go. My friend and I were on a girls trip and this definitely bummed us out. Next time we are going to Miami, we will not be coming here. It took a lot of convincing to get her to skydive, now she's probably never going to again because of this. What a shame. read more

A nice facility and my jump was amazing. My instructor, Patrick, provided excellent guidance and made the experience that more memorable. Be ON TIME or else you'll incur a $100 fee and they'll cancel your jump. We missed our first jump but luckily were able to reschedule. Be prepared to wait. This is a process and requires time for the instructors to return, prep the plane, return the previous jumpers, etc. A check off my bucket list! Only one complaint - the girl at the front desk has terrible customer service skills. She may be burnt out from repeating the same things over and over, but she needs to recognize that jumpers have questions and some are nervous. This review is super late, but I figure I am probably not jumping again very soon, so better late than never! I went went skydiving for the first time ever at Miami Skydiving Center last year for my 21st birthday. My boyfriend decided to do it as a birthday surprise (hint to all the boyfriends out there, a heart attack is not the best gift to give your girlfriend). But all jokes aside, I had an amazing experience here! We arrived in the morning an hour before our jump so we had time to fill out the forms. Between the forms and orientation, we really didn't wait very long... maybe 30 minutes total. I think it probably felt longer because of the anticipation of imminently jumping out of a plane. I can't remember my instructor's name (maybe Kevin... or Alex... not really sure) but he was amazing! Since it was my first time, he made me feel very comfortable and tried to calm my nerves as best as possible by making some jokes and telling me to breathe. He had the GoPro on his wrist, so he got some amazing shots from our jump (this is an extra fee, but probably worth it because it's not like you have this experience every day). So the one thing no one ever tells you about skydiving is that, although the jump itself is super euphoric and not scary at all, everything leading up to it is terrifying (mostly because you're natural instincts are saying "wtf are you doing"). When you go up in the plane, you're sitting in a row on the floor with everyone else who is tandem jumping. Once you're at the right altitude they open the little plastic door and the instructors jump out (with you attached) like 7 seconds apart. At that point there is no time for you to think, and then you're falling. And it's amazing! There's really nothing like it so you should just try it for yourself! Once our parachute opened, the instructor let me steer for a bit and do some spins, which was super cool. When I touched the ground I was on an adrenaline high. Also, the pictures were awesome (although maybe just a little too expensive). Thanks Miami Skydiving Center for such an amazing (and slightly terrifying) experience! So, I AM STILL ALIVE! Therefore I HAVE to give Miami Skydiving Center FIVE STARS! hahaha This past weekend I made the decision to jump out of a perfectly good plane... It was an absolutely amazing experience! The process was extremely simple, everyone must be over 18 and no more than 250lbs. You can prepay a deposit, that allows u to select a spot and change it 24 hrs in advance if needed. Finding the place was pretty simple, check in process was easy as well (they had iPads set up for you to fill out, LITERALLY signing your life away). We waited for about 15 mins before our instructors came in and suited us up. We got a detailed instruction on what to do once in the air, suited up in gear, and we were on our way. It took about 5 mins to get to the plane, we fly up to 10k feet (about 10-15 mins). Once the door opened, it was surreal! It was easier than i thought, you know.. "jumping" out, You sit on the ledge, and the plane literally turns sideways and you fall out, so there really is no reconsideration of your decision! Once in the air, its such a thrill, the free fall is about 10-15 seconds, parachute gliding is about 5 -7 mins. My instructor let me steer the parachute, I asked him to glide through a cloud which we did, (I've always wanted to know how a cloud "felt"). The landing was extremely easy, no pain at all simply slid on our butt, on to a grassland. This experience was amazing, I would definitely skydive again! read more

My family and I went skydiving a few weeks ago, and although we had a great flying experience, I am extremely disappointed and awfully upset at a few circumstances that occurred. Our appointment was at 1PM and ended up flying at 5PM. Totally unacceptable. I understand things happen, but this is ridiculous, exaggerated, and they were unapologetic about it. We paid the video upfront, they filmed the experience and all of a sudden "lost" the tape. We called several times, and they promised they'd find it, yet never did. It's been 3 weeks and they still haven't found it. Every time we call, they put us on hold for 30 minutes, make us explain the problem and do absolutely NOTHING about it. I've explained this situation to more than 5 people and nothing has happened since. It's funny how they're so quick to get your money, yet they have horrible customer service and don't do anything to get the issue resolved. I would NEVER recommend them and I don't think this is in any way, shape or form a way to handle business. If the video got lost, that's fine and can be understood, but at least return the money which in other words is called stealing. Oh and BTW, they mentioned something about "free food" yet not even water was offered. This is false advertisement and an embarrassment to go expecting something and you don't get it. read more

This was my first time skydiving and the people here make you really comfortable. We were originally scheduled for the first slot on Saturday morning, but they had to cancel due to high winds. They sent an email and text at 5.30am to let us know. They also called at 8.30am to follow up and reschedule. They were completely booked for the next day but since we were from out of town they told us they will accommodate us. We got there at 7am on Sunday morning and they got us in the second slot and we were done by 9.30am. The check in was smooth and the instructors were really good at giving instructions and handling everything. They also recorded video (which cost extra) and sent them to us within 24 hours. A few of my friends who went skydiving told me it's the best experience ever, but I never actually considered doing it myself. I was in Miami on vacation searching for things to do online, and came across the Miami Skydiving Center. This was a spontaneous decision- my husband and I called the center and booked a dive right then and there. We spoke with Nathaniel who explained the process to us and sounded very pleasant and reassuring. He walked us through the steps, send email confirmations, and answered all our questions. We got a VIP package, and upon arrival after check in at the center, were the first ones to get on the plane. No wait time. My instructor Angelo was amazing. He was very calm and relaxed, and made me feel very safe throughout the entire process. The experience itself was fascinating. What some may think should be one of the scariest things to do in life was actually not scary at all. In fact, it was so incredible that I would do it again. Yay I survived!!!! What a thrill, the best thrill anyone can imagine. I won't go on a roller coaster but I'll love to do this over and over again. It's an experience that's indescribable and I can't wait to go back!! Alex jumped with me and he was awesome since the beginning. Thanks Alex!!! After you jump, you end up 15 mins away from the airport, and a car is there waiting for you to take you back. The pictures taken from the GoPro were all really great and costs $10 more if you don't bring cash. So save the ten bucks and bring cash instead of your card. My girlfriend and I had long decided we wanted to go skydiving! After waiting for the right deal we found the Miami Skydiving Center's Groupon and decided to Jump on it as at $159 for a single tandem jump, it was the best deal we could find! I will say that it took us a while to be able to get a real person on the phone in order to schedule our jump! After numerous phone calls, we finally got to book our jump for a Saturday afternoon (don't recommend you chose Afternoon for a jump!) After we drove all the way to the center which is located all the way at the Miami Executive Airport near Homestead and waiting for almost 3 hours, we were not able to jump that day due to a change in weather conditions which proved to be unsafe to skydive that afternoon. We ended up resetting our jump for a month later only this time we were actually advised by staff that it was best to jump first thing in the morning in order to avoid cancellations due to changes in weather as well as optimal jumping temperatures! So, with our newly gained insight we booked our jump a month later to be the first jump of the day! We arrived promptly by 7:00 am, got geared up, given our 5 minute lesson and headed to the plane! The day was gorgeous and the weather was perfect! We could not have asked for a better day! We boarded the plane which was a bit old and ratty looking on the inside! We hit our jumping elevation of 13,500 feet and the adventure began just like that (see photos)!!!I can't tell you what a rush; what an amazing feeling took over my body; it was a little scary in the beginning but then, it was as if everything stood still for what seemed like hours... the world looked at peace and soooo small. Nothing existed in that moment but me and the quietness of that crisp morning. The air was pure and the sky had never looked clearer!! It was truly one of the most AMAZING experiences of my life!!!!! It is important to note that Miami Skydiving Center is a place for daredevils!! If you're going to enjoy this adventure you need to be a free spirit with little or no fear! I say this because they will give you a VERY basic, crash course in Skydiving. There is no formal training or posturing of any sort. You are literally being geared up as you are being instructed on what you'll need to do once you are on the place, jumping off, and midair! These boys know what they are doing and as long as you listen and do as you are instructed, you'll enjoy the experience, and treasure it for always! read more

My cousin and I had the experience of our lives here. We were so nervous on the way, we basically held a prayer service in the car lol! Upon arrival, we filled out some scary paperwork basically saying, don't sue us if you die, like ten times. Then, it was a sit and way situation. The best thing we did which is highly recommended is go early during the week. My instructor was Stepan and he was awesome and funny. He made me feel super secure and confident that we would be fine. Once we went outside we started our video and hopped on the tiniest plane I've ever seen. That's when things started to get real. Things got even more real when they opened that plane door at an altitude I could never imagine. That's when my instructor strapped me super tight onto him and we made that insane jump in the sky. The best part was the free fall for me. Once the parachute opened I was relieved and scared at the same time. We were still VERY high! I became extremely dizzy and nauseated descending on the parachute. It was cool to steer it even though I was scared of letting go. The landed was so smooth. I barely felt it. My cousin landed shortly after and we hopped in a truck ride back to the airport. Our video and pictures came out awesome and I think we're worth the buy. They do offer student and FL resident discounts if you have. I think this is one of those bucket list things you just gotta try. Definitely recommend Miami Skydiving Center if you dare! read more

Worst experience by staff named Maria. I booked a deal online and showed up for the jump. Soon as I walked in a woman named Maria yelled from the door asking what my reservation name was as she suited up a jumper. I informed her that I didn't book a reservation as it did not state that it was required online. She informed me loudly that she does not take jumps without reservations and I will not be seen today. When I asked to speak to her manager, she called someone and informed me that no manger was available and that she is the assistant manager. When I asked for the contact information for the manager she called some random person at the a call center. I declined to speak to the individual and requested a business card. Upon leaving the skydive center I called 305-909-6860 number. Worst decision ever! The employee was absolutely disgusting. She told me she didn't have to talk to me and would hang up on me if I didn't answer her questions. I simply asked her for the manger's name and email address to which she was providing mid sentence. When I asked her to repeat "Luther" email address she told me she did not have to and I needed to answer her questions. When I asked to be transferred, she told me she would not transfer me but would hang up. So I hung up on her disrespectful self and called back to talk to another call center employee who was much more respectful and transferred me to the Miami drop zone manger "Kevin." Unfortunately I was unable to leave a voicemail message because their phone rings then gives you a busy signal. Horrible customer service to say the least. This experience is not even worth the 1 star that Yelp is forcing me to leave!! read more

Crazy crazy crazy!!! Went with my bf for his 30th birthday. Now mind you I'm scared of heights and never ever thought I would go skydiving. I booked our jump on a Thursday and they gave us the option of 7 or 9am, we picked 9am. The time of arrival is not your jump time by the way, expect to be there for 3 hrs or so. You'll fill out the paper work which basically removes them from being liable for anything that happens to you. That only took like 10 mins. After that you watch a short video about sky diving and safety tips. Get your voucher from groupon, you'll pay half the price plus get a free t-shirt. We finally got to jump at 12. The reason being is that they were ppl there before us and the plane they use is small so it literally can only fit 5 ppl max (the pilot, two jumpers and the tandems). So we spent most of our time just waiting for our turn. When we actually got on the plane it took about 15 mins for us to get to the desired elevation. I went first, when that door opened I swear my heart dropped, shit just got real lol. I had my eyes closed when we first jumped out because I was terrified. I opened them once I felt the parachute open. The ride down took 10 mins or so. The landing was easy. My experience was good, you don't feel like your falling from the sky like one might expect. I would highly recommend this place. I felt very safe which was the most important thing for me, the staff was very friendly and answered any questions we had. read more

Ermi (not sure about his name) was very friendly. A hungarian guy living in miami, he was professional and friendly all at once. Derian, from toronto was a less friendly but a professional nonetheless After a brief instructional chat, we went up in the air and then dropped from a perfectly good plane. FOR THE LONGEST time I have been wanting to go sky diving and I am happy to say this december I finally crossed it off my bucket list, that being said I enjoyed every minute of this adventure and Miami skydiving center instructors made it even a good expiereince they are all nice and fun which is a must with this type of activity, I felt safe and I felt confident before getting onto the plane and thats all thanks to the staff. This was LITERALLY the best experience of my life. I landed and turned to my instructor and immediately wanted to jump again. I felt incredibly safe the whole time, and my instructor (I believe his name was Alejandro, my ex and I had 2 great instructors and that was at least 1 of them) was super cool. I see people complaining about appointment times and frankly I'm shocked: if you arrive a little early, you're fine. We had absolutely 0 issues with timing, there's just a lot of paperwork to fill out prior (you're jumping out of a plane, so....fair). My 1st jump ever and it was GREAT!!! When I arrived, the staff was friendly and processed us fairly quickly. There were electronic forms that included many liability releases, so allow yourself an earlier arrival time - lots of clicking & signing During the wait I was filled anticipation of excitement, then finally we suited up and the excitement continued to grow within. Upon arriving to the plane and boarding, terror joined excitement. I was terrifyingly excited to be rising towards the Heavens and Free Fall back to Earth . It was a magical experience that ended way too quickly. When we safely landed back down to Earth my mind/body were both overwhelmed from the Adrenaline Rush. That was likely the reason I was soaked in sweat for several minutes. After a few moments after landing , the emotion of having crossed the 1st item off my decades old bucket list by descending from the Heavens, overcame me with Joy. Safety was an obvious concern for me. My 5 Star Tandem Instructor, Erik (E.T.) made me feel safe throughout the entire flight and fall THANK YOU!!! If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be able to "phone home" Planning/Ready for Jump #2 The next Jump, I know I'll be able to relax/enjoy it much more than the 1st and absorb the magical beauty of flying/falling from the Heavens. Don't Overthink IT - Just Do IT! My overall experience with Miami Sky Dive was very good. The only negative was the video recording option of the jump. I paid $100 extra for a video recording of the jump. The CD was immediately provided shortly after returning from the landing site. The video Did Not capture the entire Free Fall or Landing and the music added to the video was . The reason being that the instructors are provided a wrist band Go-Pro that they only record while that hand is free, so if they need to navigate recording is paused. Management needs to invest in a better recording system (i.e. jumper stick cam?) or at least have your front desk disclose that while trying to Upsell it. Additionally, give the customer options if your going to edit music into the video. Initially I rated my experience a 5 stars, but after viewing the video, I downgraded to 4 stars. read more

Let me begin by saying that this crazy adventure was NOT my idea, but I am incredibly grateful I was open to it because it was a memorable experience. I jumped with Angelo, and he was absolutely awesome! He put me at ease, was incredibly friendly, and was one of the highlights of the overall jump. The front desk staff was absolutely helpful and patient with me as I decided if I wanted to get the video/photo package or not. In the end, I'm overjoyed I got both because the experience was one I definitely want to remember. I will jump again here without hesitation. read more
