Finally made my way over to Miami Improv and I was so impressed! To start, I booked my tickets for the Pete Davidson stand-up and this event was sold out -- aka around 400 people coming out to attend this comedy show which is a lot and I was interested in seeing how the experience would be. Wow, the staff, the service the logistics, everything was 10/10! From how quickly the lined moved to how organized and accommodating the team was I was beyond impressed and truly made me enjoy the stand up so much! We arrived there 15 minutes early, thinking we would be good and were pretty much last in line. I was nervous and thought we wouldn't be able to enjoy the show but the format of the establishment made it just fine and we actually were able to enjoy the show just fine. Our server was a sweetheart and surprisingly everything was so smooth and easy. We ordered sparkling water, fries and chicken tenders and everything was pretty good. The tenders weren't my fave but that's just because I don't really enjoy fried food. The comedians before Pete were hilarious and overall the experience was just so great. I'm already looking to book two more shows and so excited to come here more often. I truly think Miami was missing such an awesome spot like Miami Improv! read more

I come here with my friends about 2-4 times a year, and this place never fails, always great comedians except one bad experience but over all so much fun good prices to see famous comedians where they will cost 5 times more at a larger venue. it's located in Doral city place where you have so many options to dine or hang out I definitely recommend coming here not just for the place but for the laughter cause it's the best medicine. First off, allow me to say that this review has nothing to do with the comedians at all. I am solely reviewing the venue and their food! My husband received VIP tickets to see the legend Shawn Wayans! Suli McCullough opened for him, who was also wonderful! Now let's talk about the service - I read quite a few yelp reviews before we headed that way. We arrived early and sat down early. We ordered our first round out of two drinks plus food. A beer for $6 and a specialty cocktail White Chicks Mojito which was very strong and tasty. I'm glad I took the advice to order everything as soon as you sat down. Food and drinks came fast but were we disappointed...loaded fries were burnt and dry like they left the fries in the oven for a long time before they served them. very minimal toppings to aid the dry fries. For a quick bite, I decided on the pan con lechon. Again, the side of fries were dry as hell, the lechon? Can you call that a lechon? Why in the hell is it sweet? Disappointing. The only thing that seemed to be decent was the carnitas tacos my husband had, which was the same "lechon" they put in my sandwich but it worked as tacos instead. Service was meh. Our server tried her best!! I will note that one of the food runners was deliberately ignoring us when we tried to flag him down 3x to ask for silverware. Go for the show, not the food! read more

We wanted to find a relaxed activity to do in Miami during the night. Found Miami improve tickets deal on Groupon and decided to give it a try. The event was supposed to start at 10:30pm but we didn't get seated until 11:15pm. No one was wearing a mask but at least our group was seated in our own spot so we didn't feel too unsafe with the seating arrangement as many have mentioned in their reviews. There is a 2 drink purchase minimum but if you don't drink soda or alcohol, you can also purchase water bottles ($6 each). They brought out 3 comedians before the main act came out. It was a hit or miss some acts were funny some were offensive. Being not from Miami and first time visiting the city - we were not aware that Spanish was a widely spoken language here (sometimes even preferred). We left early because there were a lot of jokes made in Spanish that if you weren't a Spanish speaker you wouldn't have understood the joke. We noticed a couple none Spanish speaker near us also felt the same way and also left early. If you're a Spanish speaker, you would probably enjoy this experience much better than we did! read more

Came here for the first time to watch Matt Rife perform, and the show was awesome. The comedy club works in tandem with Copper & Blues restaurant next door. Bought my tickets in advance online so I didn't have to stop at the box office. There were so many people here for the 9:30 show that the line snaked around almost the entire second floor. The venue: Like most Improvs, there is a two drink purchase minimum to attend most shows. The venue is intimate and they sit by party. What this means is, show up with your entire party before joining the line to enter if you want to sit together. They will put anyone in any remaining seat available at your table / booth if it is a full show. For example, a party of three sitting at a table of four will probably have a solo attendee join in sitting at the same table. VIP seating is available depending on the show. Second floor entrance / venue. The food: They had a decent menu of options to choose from. I decided to keep it simple and get some chicken tenders and french fries to accompany my beers. The portion size was substantial enough to share with another person. Obviously because the Improv works with the restaurant, the food was cooked to order and served piping hot. The drinks are reasonably priced and there is a mix of different kinds of specialty drinks depending on what you're in the mood for. The service: The servers were quick at taking everyone's food and drink orders. The food however to a long time to come to our table. Matt was about 1/4 into his set for the night before our food came, which for estimating purposes was about 40 -45 minutes. I will note, the pair sitting next to me ordered food that took too long to bring out. And by too long I mean the food never came. Pros: Good selection of food and drinks. The food tasted really good. You're able to see the performance stage well from any seat. Cons: Parking around here is an absolute nightmare. I looked for a parking space in multiple garages for almost an hour and a half. Allow extra time in your schedule to accommodate. Have been coming to the improv for years now. Love supporting comedians especially when they are locals. Food is pricey and it hit or miss. We tend to eat dinner elsewhere and just come in for the drinks and shows and yes it's a 2 drink minimum. Service is good, but if you are going to order food come early to avoid the kitchen backlog of orders, as you will be waiting a longer period of time, so don't come hungry if you show up "on time" or slightly late. Also a hint for newbies, don't bring a first date here and talk during the whole show, this is not the place to get to know someone. Some people don't realize we are here to enjoy the show and a night out. Even though they say keep talking to a minimum at the beginning of the show, staff members should emphasize to those chatter boxes to keep it down or take it outside. Great spot to check out a comedy show in miami. The theater is located on 2nd floor of the Doral city center shops. The space itself is very nice and open. Seats are comfortable and are setup nicely to watch the show and enjoy food and drinks. The food menu has quite a few options to choose from. We have been multiple times and have had the loaded fries, spinach dip and pretzels with dip. All three are very good options to choose from. The drink menu usually has a specialty cocktail list for the the performer and the beer prices are good. I would suggest arriving early to get the best seats if you do a general admission ticket. Overall, this is a nice theater that has good shows throughout the year and is an ideal spot for a date or to go out with a group of friends. read more

First timer, had a great time- show wise. Marlon Wayans was hilarious and his opening act, DC Ervin, as well. I arrived early, checked in and was escorted to my seat. The seating is a little tight, especially up-front and a little chilly, so bring a sweater or light jacket. I order the Chicken Quesadillas and few drinks that night (as they have a 2-minimum drink purchase per person), never received utensils or napkins for that matter. The only reason they are getting a 2 star was because the comedian was great. That unfortunately is where it ends. To begin, I was seated at a table with a complete stranger and was told there was no other available seats and that they were "sold out" even though there was many open tables and seats, this alone starts off the night making not only myself but the stranger seated directly in front of me feel awkward. Then, when ordering my food, I'm told that there can be no alterations or substitutions even though it's not stated on the menu or the ticket when purchasing. After this the food comes out, great, but the server did not bring out any napkins, or utensils until about 40 mins after the food was brought out and I was also never asked by my server if I wanted another drink or order anything else. Lastly, it also doesn't state on the menu that automatic gratuity would be added ( 18%) to be exact. Now, I'm someone who always leaves at least 20%, so I'm not against tipping at all, but the automatic gratuity of 18% didn't match the service I was provided. This leads to the type of service I received which to put it politely was subpar at best. Overall, if you decide to come see a show , I'd recommend eating somewhere else in Doral City Place before the show and just grab a drink or two at the show. As someone who doesn't drink/much at all it's very hard to have a good time here with their mandatory 2 drink policy.. crazy how society works I swear. we had ordered a ton of food while watching trevor wallace and yet the waiter still demanded we meet this policy. I honestly think its absurd that comedy shows do this, and instead should consider a $ spend minimum so clients have more leverage in order what they want. COME EARLY so you get seated in a good seat, and otherwise pretty organized and the comedian shows were pretty decent. i found one of the openers way funnier than Trevor wallace himself which was ironic and really goes to show sometimes you can find some hidden gems of comedians as openers when the lead usually is just good at creating content and marketing, but thats about it. read more

After ordering food it took them super long to bring it out. Yes there's a two drink minimum and they make it their priority but again if you want more then two, good luck. Miami Improv is a fun place to go. We've been to three shows so far and they make for a good night out. Good for small and large groups. The Copper Blues Bar next to the venue always has live music Saturday nights that draws crowds and gets people dancing. Parking is available at the many garages in Doral CityPlace. The place is clean and roomy, though it gets packed! Even with a Hurricane on the radar, it was a full house for Steve Treviño show we saw last night. As for the drinks, we were underwhelmed by some of the specialty drinks, they were large, pricy and tasted too much of sugar and did not pack any noticeable punch - for about $16-18 for these drinks we felt taken. Note that there is a two drink minimum per person. The least expensive option is to do a bottled water for $5 each. Draft Beers are $6-7. We enjoyed a couple of El Farito IPAs and they were easy enjoyable brews to have with the show. Tickets to the comedy shows are in the $20-30 range. Typically there's a host who comes on first, then a headliner, followed by the main act. You'll be there for about two hours. Fun time, would come back. read more

I'm surprised by all the negative reviews. I've been to Miami Improv several times to see Nikki Glaser and Girls Gotta Eat and it's always been a cool experience. It does take a while for them to get to all the tables and take your order but that's what's expected. Reminds me a lot of Cinebistro. The drinks are reasonable for the area and being a comedy club. Every server we had had has been so nice. My most recent visit was a few weeks ago for Girls Gotta Eat and they still have communal tables but groups are separated by a chair in between. I felt safe but then again I am fully vaccinated so my idea of safe may be different for others. Any time there's a good comic in town, I don't hesitate to come here. Headline: I laughed so hard I cried. Miami Improv is a must visit if you like comedy. It is located in Doral at a city center full of activity. Parking is tight, but they have valet parking and a public parking garage not far away. Parking was reasonable for Miami, for about 2 hours we paid $4. Miami Improv has both food and drinks. We ordered the loaded chips which although cold were really good. Imagine a stack of thick cut potato chips topped with bacon, truffle oil, chives, blue cheese and cheese sauce. I didn't get a picture because by the time our food came the lights were out and they don't allow picture taking once the acts start. The drinks: My friend ordered one of their specialty drinks. It had berries and was good and strong. At about $17 a drink though, not quite sure the value was there. Where the value was is in the beer. The only decent beer on tap was from Veza Sur, a local micro brewery in Wynwood. The beer was only $7 which for this venue seemed like a steal compared to the other drink. The service: started out slow which was disappointing. We were the first at our table and the people who arrived last were the first to get served. Maybe they were VIPs or something. And our food came before the drinks which was also off putting. The venue is quite large, but all tables are set up with a good view of the stage. I think because there are so many people, service is bound to be a little slow. Which brings me to my next buyer beware moment, like a lot of places in the Miami area, they charge an 18% gratuity and still have an area for an EXTRA TIP. So unless you feel like your service was better than 18%, no need to tip. On this occasion I didn't think so. No matter what, I will return because the comedy was outstanding. This was my second time visiting the Improv. The first time was for the Matt Rife 9:30 PM show which started way too late. We were outside for over an hour waiting in a huge line to get in. We bought tickets for a 7 pm show this time around. Parking is much better for the 7 pm show than the later one. It's a nightmare to find parking if you arrive after 8 on a weekend night. My friend and I had glasses of wine. There is a 2 drink minimum. For dinner we had the chicken quesadilla and the chicken ceased salad. The quesadilla was lukewarm and really didn't have much flavor. You come here for the comedians not the food, but the menu is pretty extensive (appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, pizza, salads) so I was hoping for something a little better flavor wise. The place is big and every seat in the house is a good one. The biggest con is that the restroom is at Copper Blue next door. There are no restrooms inside the venue. My husband and I came to watch Marlon Wayans for NYE. And I had a blast! The venue space is spacious and the have different type of seating arrangements available. Since is was NYE they had hats and beads and headbands for all the patrons. When it neared midnight the staff passed out noisemakers to ring in the new year. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is because service did take a bit long to get to us AFTER sitting down. The show was starting and that's when the waitress came to take our first order. We had the drinks made specifically for this show. However they weren't the best. So our additional drinks consisted of shots and chasers because why spend so much money on a weak drink. They did have food available but we didn't order any. It looked like typical bar food. Nothing fancy from what I saw people ordering. Tip is included which is fine but I would've liked to have been more attended to in order to give more of a tip but that's fine. All in all I would definitely come again to watch another show. What an opening night to kick off the brand new Miami Improv at Cityplace Doral! This little-known event was sent out as a private invitation and somehow I received one by email from Cityplace. The tickets were free, but with a required 2-drink minimum. Despite the low-key invitation, this place was packed to capacity on a Wednesday night and the venue was much larger than I expected it to be. It seated maybe 400. I arrived early and sat near the front stage. I'm glad I didn't get picked on by the comics lol. Tonight's event kicked off the return of the Improv to Miami since it closed down 5 years ago. The old location was in Coconut Grove which I have previously been to. This new location looks bigger and better and it's attached to Copper Blues. They're both owned by the same group. Food from the Improv menu comes from the Copper Blues kitchen. I started off with a Comedian Old Fashion, of course. Later, I ordered another one as my 2nd drink. It wasn't the best Old Fashioned I've ever had, but it certainly was boozy. Interestingly, the drink menu didn't show any prices which I didn't realize until later. These costed $12.50 each. I also ordered Fish Tacos, also $12.50. These three tacos had crispy mahi along with several toppings. Bottom line is these won't be the most memorable fish tacos by far. They looked better than they tasted and could've used more flavor in my opinion. I'd try something else next time. My total bill came out to $46.88 with 18% gratuity already included. Shout out to Ashlee for being an awesome server. She was so on point, friendly, and remembered every detail. I highly recommend her! On to the comedians... Trey Maddox opened the show and he's a super funny guy. He had us laughing from the get-go. His style was somewhat of a lower energy, slower pace, easy going, and yet very personable. I'd say likable as well. He'll look you directly in your face. He did a lot of interacting with the audience in the front row. He was pretty hilarious and I'd say he was the 2nd funniest comedian of the night. Ricky Cruz, the headliner and also a Miami native (Cuban), killed it tonight. He had a very high energy, uptempo style and just cracked jokes left and right seemingly with ease and with a lot of dirty jokes mixed in lol. You can tell that he can just talk out of his ass and turn on that switch at any time because he's freaking hilarious. Ricky was the perfect headliner and local celebrity to kick off the first night of the new Improv Miami. Up next will be a huge headliner in Wanda Sykes along with a lineup made up of well-known comedians within the next month alone. I'm already looking forward to coming back. First time going to a Comedy Show with my fiancé and his family, and it was awesome! We went on a Friday night to see Desi Banks! It was packed, a few were wearing masks will in the venue. We sat right beside the stage, so we had front row seating. - For the show, the waiter advised us it's mandatory to order (2) drinks per person. Better than sex, and sex on the stage. We also had the chicken tenders which was really good. The service was great despite it being pack. Service- 5/5 Show- 10/10! Pure Garbage! Don't waste your time. The 9:30pm show didn't begin until 10:30pm. The first drinks didn't arrive our table into 11pm. The food even later. No napkins, not silverware and burnt food.
