Chips

Food is disgusting. We didn't realize it was 4 dollars a taco. If I did I wouldn't have ordered. The tacos were super dry and had zero flavor. It was also ice cold. The chips tasted like they made them a week ago.( Stale) I ordered cheese and limes on the side and didn't receive them. The guac was somewhat edible but still not that good . Save your money and go somewhere else.

Birria tacos

Their food is completely bland and flavorless, it's actually surprising how they manage to make something so meh. I've had better empanadas from white people. The only thing that I was kinda okay with was the birria tacos. Very dry but at least the sauce was good. If you eat here just be prepared with salt and hot sauce to add any flavor to this disgusting food.

Tacos, agua de horchata & agua de piña.

I really wish I could give them a better rating since the presentation of the food was pretty good and because they have birria on the menu, since not too many restaurants have it. However, even though the birria was ok, the tacos were not great. They were soggy and bland overall, even the consomé (broth served on the side) didn't help much. The regular tacos were ok, but I just wasn't impressed by the taste of the meat or the tortillas. The horchata was good, but the agua de piña (pineapple water/juice) was extremely sweet and didn't have much of a fresh pineapple taste. I will say that the vibe was very welcoming because of the music, although there was a strong bleach smell in the lobby. I like it when places smell like bleach because it's a sign they are trying to be sanitary, but the smell was a bit sketchy because it was borderline with that feet smell bleach has. So wasn't sure if it was actually bleach or something else trying to be disguised with "bleach". Also, I'm fairly new to the area, so I'm not sure if this is the standard price for Mexican food, but I paid $35 for these two meals. I thought it was pricey because I'm from Southern California where Mexican food is abundant and affordable, but it may be normal for Hampton Roads.

Having a craving for pupusa and burritos lead me to authentic Mexican Mi Rincon food. My order started with 4 pupusa, and 2 California burritos. I saw the quesadillias were store made so why not try them. Hey Empanadas ..let's have 3 chicken. They were out of fulatas and the super nice young last offered a burriata, the tacos were 3 for $?. So had to try them also and Carne aside sounded good. Prices were just as everyone's else's, no surprise there. I was interested in ordering the birthday platter which offered a little of everything, sadly they no longer offer it. Everything was pretty authentic which is just what I wanted. The meal came with 2 types of sauces. The green tomatillio sauce and the Ancho pepper very spicy sauce. For a Monday night they were out of a few basic menu items. The California burritos was good. Not enough Carne asada meat or guacamole. My usual Mexican restaurant has totally spoiled me I guess. Although with all this food for 2 people, I still wanted my bag of tortilla chips with homemade salsa. It does not come with the order. Horchada was muy Bueno, and just come in one size. Large with lots of ice. Very shareable. To sum this us. Their customer service was very good. Worth the trip out over the bridge to pic up food.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Great, authentic mexican food! Don't let the hole-in-the wall location fool you! Don't speak Spanish, no worries!! They speak English and are happy to explain anything on the menu. Super friendly staff!

Pleasant surprise!! Read some good reviews so I decided to give it a shot. Definitely a hole in the wall place. Small and clean inside which was a good sign. Ordered the flautas and the torta milanese. Also a agua fresca de mango. Everything was so good! I'm from southern California and I'm always looking for good food that reminds me of back home. Highly recommend and will definitely be ordering again.

Yesterday I ordered a California burrito and it had a tooth pick inside. I'm very disappointed. Lost my whole appetite.

We decided on an early dinner this evening and stopped by La Hacienda Street Food and Taqueria,…read morelocated at 2007 South Military Highway in the heart of Chesapeake. The staff is always welcoming here, and one of the things we appreciate most is the consistency. Whether it's your first visit or your tenth, the food is reliably fresh, flavorful, and served with a smile. After a rather indulgent lunch, we decided to keep dinner light and split the Chicken Taco Salad along with a small quesadilla. The taco salad arrived in a crisp tortilla bowl piled high with seasoned chicken, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and plenty of melted cheese. The quesadilla was nicely toasted with tender chicken and gooey cheese, while the creamy refried beans rounded out the meal perfectly. Everything was simple, satisfying, and prepared with care. If you're looking for authentic Mexican street food, friendly service, and generous portions at a fair price, La Hacienda continues to deliver. It's the kind of dependable neighborhood restaurant that earns repeat visits, and we'll certainly be back.

I've eaten from here many times and would normally give this establishment 5-stars, but my…read moreexperience today with a simple one-item takeout order was disappointing. The food is DELICIOUS!!! I ordered my usual, Juan's shrimp chimichanga. It also seemed that servers on staff were attentive to customers, both in-house and those waiting for takeout. Even for a smaller dining experience, it's still cozy and enjoyable. I normally have my food delivered, but decided to save a little money and pickup on my way home. However, ordering for pick-up today, it seemed chaotic upon arrival. Staff were calling orders/names, but much of the food sitting was not for anyone there. I placed my order in advance (1:41 p.m.) so it would already be done when I arrived (about a 15-minute drive), but did not receive my food until well after 2:20 p.m. This restaurant on food alone would receive 5-stars from me, but due to today's wait, I'd have to leave it at 4-stars. If I were dining-in, I would not mind waiting for the food, but for a pickup order and my family waiting in the car for an order that was supposed to be ready, it was a bit disappointing. I've seen some restaurants shut down delivery services during peak restaurant service times so they can focus on customers, or vice versa. It takes a great deal of balance to manage both sides effectively. Otherwise, I highly recommend the food!!

The place…read morewas quite empty (there were a few folks in there, but it was by no means busy), and we were seated right away. Now we knew we were trying it by coming in so late and kind of close to closing time, so we were by no means making a fuss about what would or would not be available. Our waiter was very nice (albeit a bit awkward), but we were able to order quickly and in true good Mexican food restaurant fashion, the food came out quickly as well. It was all fresh and quite good (I believe I ordered street tacos and my friend ordered birria tacos). Missed opportunity for them not having sauces on the table, but also understanding that a) it was late, and b) all Mexican restaurants don't do this, especially if they are not a taqueria or another spot that focuses on tacos. The ambiance was fine, nothing special, but it felt nice in there. The seats weren't too close together, and even the booths had quite a bit of room, so that was nice. It was also all a good price, in my opinion! I would definitely go back to this spot, and honestly I'm kind of curious to know if it's different at different times of the day (Saturday afternoon/evening vs. a weekday/night).

Started with the blood orange margarita which was a 0/5 stars. It was awful. The spicy salsa they brought was also awful, the mild salsa was pretty okay. The chips were pretty good too. I ordered the Al pastor quesadilla and it had good flavor, but the lettuce salad looked old and the rice was overcooked. My friend got the spinach and chicken enchiladas and said they were decent. I don't know how someone could call this "authentic " Mexican. Only those who have never had authentic Mexican would! I would not return and do not recommend.

Waiter was quick to bring us chips and salsa and also take our drink orders. I tried their large Midnight Margarita (10/10) I loved the flavor and it was STRONG! For food, I was craving steak, and saw Steak El Amigo (10/10) on the menu. It was very flavorful, tender, seasoned, cooked exactly how I wanted it, and more than enough food for me. The steak was topped with cheese sauce, shrimp, fajita vegetables, peppers, and mushrooms. Also came with a side of rice and beans and tortillas. Def my new go to spot for sure. Already planning to go back next Tuesday, this time, to try some tacos and other drinks! My overall rate of experience : 10/10

We were sat immediately around 630 on a Friday evening. We received chips and dips before I could even sit down! Our server promptly greeted us and drinks were ready within minutes. So far, so good. For dinner, hubby had the Vegetarian E which came with a burrito, quesadilla and chalupa, daughter had the kids quesadilla with beans and I initially selected the shrimp bowl. Our food took about 15 minutes. Both quesadillas were barely warm and the cheese wasn't even melted. The refried beans were loaded with red pepper and too spicy for my child. My shrimp bowl was overwhelmed by cheese and aioli that I couldn't stomach it. Our server kindly let me order something else so I selected the shrimp taco salad. It arrived shortly thereafter but was also so greasy it made my stomach turn. 2 stars just for service. 0 for food. Overall, this meal was an unfortunate waste of $50.

We started the night with drinks: I went for a cold Modelo, while my friends both ordered margaritas, and wouldn't stop raving about how good they were! For appetizers, we shared the Union Trio! Fire roasted tomato salsa, creamy guacamole, and queso served with crisp tortilla chips. All three were fresh and delicious, a great way to kick off the meal. For my main, I mixed things up with a taco trio! Carne Asada (marinated steak, onion, queso fresco, avocado, cilantro), Chicken Tinga (marinated chicken, refried black beans, avocado, greens, queso fresco, cilantro) and Blackened Mahi (mezcal pickled onion, red cabbage, red pepper pico, chipotle sauce, cilantro). The blackened mahi was my hands down favorite. It was super flavorful with just the right amount of heat. My friends tried some awesome dishes too! One had the Coconut Curry Mahi (blackened mahi, jasmine rice, edamame succotash, with a rich coconut curry cream sauce) and the other had the Duck Confit Taco (with cherry salsa, pickled carrot salad, and cilantro-lime creme). Our waitress was phenomenal and definitely suggested great choices.
