The food was terrible. I have been eating seafood dishes for many years. I order a seafood dish and when the waitress brought to our table no one knew who food it was. It was a dish I've ordered at other restaurants for years and this looked nothing like the food I ordered. It looked like a burrito with in a dish full of red sauce. I tried the sauce in the dish because it didn't look right it was awful. The waitress took it back to kitchen told them it tasted terrible and nothing like it should so they thru it in the garbage and told me I had to pay for it. So I paid for $24.00 meal and was never asked if I wanted something else . The waitress felt bad when she came to the table I told her it wasn't her fault and we still gave her a nice tip. I will never eat there again It was a Saturday night around 7pm and only one booth with two people in it and a table with a family and just us three. finally found a place with good tasting shrimp cocktails. Recommend the Horchata and Jamaica fresh drinks. We also order the carne asada nachos which were pretty tasty. The food was amazing but the service was not. Went on a Saturday night around 7 with a group of 14. We had called the head and told them the group was coming but they did not have a table set up when we arrived. They put some tables together and got a seated but never brought us water. We play star drink orders and those took longer than expected but because we were talking and enjoying each other's company we really didn't notice. They took our food order shortly after the drinks came out. They make everything fresh to order so we knew they would be somewhat of a wait. However, it took over half an hour for half of our group to get their plates. The other half didn't get theirs for another 15 to 20 minutes. We all got different dishes and tried each other's food and everything I tried was very delicious. If you like Steve food with a lot of flavor not just lemon and butter, then this is your place. They have crab legs, fish, shrimp, clams, mussels and oysters in their menu. I tried the prawns, the shrimp and various dishes and the oysters. The sauce that came with each of those was some of the most flavorful I have ever had. Typically I ignore the rice that comes with meals because they're nothing to get excited about but there rice actually had a lot of flavor. The plates are big and there is plenty of food. However, when we would ask for extras like more lines or more water it took over 10 minutes to get what we asked for and the restaurant wasn't even that full. The presentation of their drinks was really nice but everyone agreed that none of the mixed drinks had enough alcohol. In fact, one of my friends had to order two shots of tequila to put in her drink so that it wouldn't taste like juice. They also ran out of chips and said they were making more. Towards the middle of our meal someone asked for chips and they told her that they had made more but they were giving them to the tables just arriving that haven't had any chips and she never got her chips! They were very polite about bringing our own cake but before we got to that our empty plates sat in front of us for so long that we ended up busing our own table and putting all of our empty plates and cups on the table behind us. Luckily, they didn't seem to mind but we did. I wish the service wasn't so slow and negligent because the food was impressive and I would go back to try other dishes but not in a group. It takes a lot for me to rate a place with less than 3 stars. This location has gone through several names and owners (most recently South Beach). It didn't have a very good reputation for any of them. But when it opened with yet another new name and had two 5 star reviews I was hopeful that someone did something good with it (the location is great and the spacious building has a lot of potential). They bill themselves as Mexican and Italian. Marshalltown isn't hurting for Mexican, but we have only 1 Italian restaurant, and it leaves much to be desired. So I ordered the Chicken Parmesan dinner. It was not just bad, it was horrible. The marinara sauce was fine. But the breaded chicken cutlet, which should be the crispy-tender-flavorful star of the show was leathery with an off taste. I think it was freezer burnt, and the coating was thin and soggy. It was served with a side of spaghetti and sauce that was larger than the main course itself, plus 2 rolls that looked really cool with herbs coating the outsides, but when I bit into them they seemed like stale rolls that someone tried to salvage by coating with oil and herbs and reheating. I do have 2 good things to say. (1) The wait staff was very pleasant. I liked them a lot and tipped accordingly. And (2) they actually had good salsa with their complementary basket of tortilla chips. I regret that there is not much more good to say. I have uploaded photos of my dinner. Burnt canned beans, dry rice, unseasoned steak, forgot an order my husband waited 30min and his food smelt disgusting smelt like you know what. Tasted nasty every dish we had. Restrooms were DIRTY, flies everywhere. Please do yourself a favor and eat McDonald's before even considering this nasty place. read more

Decided to try this restaurant on the advice of a friend. The exterior is very unpretentious with ample parking, the interior is spacious and plain with large bar and a open area in the back that looks like a small dance hall. Reasonably clean. Service is extremely pleasant and professional. The menu is large with an interesting combo of traditional Mexican dishes with a variety of seafood specialties, and also typical Italian dishes. We ordered the carne asada, arro con pollo and pizza. The Mexican dishes were good, not too spicy, and with decent portions. The carne asada had a bit more gristle than I would have liked. The pizza was surprisingly good, not what one may have expected in Mexican restaurant. Most customers seemed to be ordering the seafood platters, which seems to be their specialty. Food is amazing but service needs to be improved. We had a party of 18 guest but only had one server. She was over worked which made our food and drinks take longer to come out. If you come make sure you call before hand to make sure they still have all seafood due to they run out depending on how much clients they get. Ive been eating their food for years. Every place they have been. Absolutely my favorite place to eat in town. From appetizers to desert, I've never had a single item that I haven't enjoyed. My favorite is the lobster ravioli, and i cant get enough of the seven seas soup. Where else can you get Mexican and Italian? Do yourself a favor and try this place out. read more

Was so excited to try the pizza and Chicken Murphy here. The pizza is delicious but they can't seem to get the to go ordered complete. When they realize there is an issue they don't offer money back or anything in compensation on the next visit. Came off greedy and unprofessional. The chicken Murphy has no artichoke hearts like Joe's original. It's close but after giving them 3 tries and having the same issues I'm giving them a low rating. The last order was questionable at best. I called to tell the owner it was rancid chicken. He said the Murphy usually cooked for 2 days in the sauce and he had made it fresh. It was tough and had a very off putting flavor. Again, he said thanks! Then never offered to replace or make it right. So with that said, I'm not giving them any more of our money for food that ends up in the garbage can. Then I have to cook something anyway. Makes no sense at all!!! read more
