This just opened up in our neighborhood when covid hit and I've been dying to check it out. I found…read morea post for a free 10 min session to see what it was all about. I almost chickened out and cancelled but so glad I didn't. Katie the owner was amazing! She greeted me and showed me what they had to offer. I was distracted by all the crystals and bracelets so I stopped there first. I loved all the descriptions of each crystal or stone and ended up buying like 10 or 12 of them. She suggested I photograph each one with the specific card so I could reference later rather than having a bunch of what would become more trash in my house. So to the good stuff, she walked me into a room with a chair asked me to sit down then reclined me until I moaned, seriously I totally did... awkward. Haha. She then set me up with some headphones, a blanket and a weighted eye cover. I was legit in heaven! So the music starts and the chair vibrates with the sound and it put me in like an outer body trance. I'm not really into all this natural healing stuff so I didn't know what to expect but I didn't feel weird, I felt 100% relaxed and sort of like jello. The compacting pain in my neck was gone and I didn't want to leave. They offer many other things like (I think she called them) acupressure patches and she has a really fancy table that resets your nervous system or something. I'm probably not the best person to be writing her first review but you should really check it out. I had never heard of anything like this and I'm totally booking a recurring appointment from now on. I loved how clean it was, loved the decor but mostly how nice the owner was and how I could feel her passion for what she does when she would talk to me.

Beautiful space, aesthetically and energetically. Enjoyed my moment of me time for sure! We need…read morethis spot to sustain our balance, relax our tension and reconnect with loving care. I made an appointment on Katie's website, the owner and sound therapist there. Super simple! Wonderful experience. Thank you, Katie! They have lots of goodies in the shop that I had to limit myself to, haha! And I am planning to book a longer session with Katie soon, because I need more of whatever just happened. I am happy to know that they have a few other therapeutic offerings here too for when I need it! Being in North Austin and beyond is hard for finding this kind of unique vibratory and spiritual care. Excited to return! I heard they may host meditations soon too, which I just love and need always. Thanks again y'all!

You need to come here. I do not know another shop like this in Austin where Cantu's has been my go-to for the 21 years of me living here. This is a rare gem of a store in South Austin that you have to know about if you don't already. This is a very unique, quiet, and calm place to come in to whether you want to browse or you are curious about a consultation at Lee's Healing Center (located inside the shop in the back). When I need red mal de ojo bracelets (what are ojo bracelets, you ask? They are for protection! Look it up!) for myself, friends, or even for my baby nephew Cantu's has got them. Yup! She carries baby bracelets too to give to a newborn baby or any one who has small wrists to be honest. You will want to really take your time here when you arrive as there are so many things to see. Books, candles, prayer booklets, trinkets, statues, and tarot cards (also in Spanish!) can be found here. There should be no rush when you are here so take your time and gather all the things that call to you. Parking is located in the back of the small yellow building. Entrance is in the front off of S. 1st street. Be sure not to park in the convenience store next door where the sandwich shop is at. You will be towed! Be sure to say hello to Virgen de Guadalupe on the side of the building. The mural is beautiful (and old) but worth the stop to check out and maybe get a selfie with her. She really shines off of S. 1st Street!

It is not super big but it makes great use of the space it has tons of pre loved books, stickers, various gifts, oracle and Tarot cards, witches candles and so much more. SHANA SAYS: Super cute atmosphere, fun organizing of the books like pre loved, and lots of cute gift items. Plus a cat with its own hours! Kathy was super friendly and helpful. Made the whole experience better and is a genuine person. They do have a game room and a snack bar with free water as well as a keuring and snacks for sale. The bathroom is for everyone and they are very welcoming. Of course as an independent bookstore they have a wide variety of titles with some new books thrown in. They do mystery sells and bundles where you get a vague description of a book that is covered up and you take a chance. It should go without saying but as you are supporting local businesses the prices are a little higher the HPB or Amazon but it means more here and you should buy local when you can. I highly recommend this place. They even have a section where if you spend $50 you get to choose a free gift from books to sunglasses to other items. Go in, say hi to Kathy and The Cat!

What a wonderfully weird place! I was looking for a local bookstore that was close to my hotel and…read morewould let me explore a little. The Book Burrow did the trick! I will start with the "downsides" (as few as they are). This place is pretty small. Like smaller than I thought. Because of this, its not the greatest place for browsing. They had some "witch" stuff which was interesting, but I was looking for a book. Also, most of the books are used which isn't terrible, but not exactly clear. As for the positives, this place is a true small business so you really get the personal touch when it comes to service. I also picked this place because it did a "blind book" service where they will pick out a book or two for you based on your description. A bunch of bookstores do this, but the Book Burrow understood the assignment exactly. They got me THREE books and all of them were PERFECT. I was surprised how they found my vibe and found me unique books! They also wrapped it in a beautiful paper and addressed it to me! It was like a little birthday gift to myself! As you can tell, I was very floored by the selections. This is the small business of small businesses so I am so HAPPY that I was able to stop by! While the place is small and their selection is in flux, I really appreciated the personal touch from the staff at The Book Burrow.
