Disappointed. I drove from South Austin first thing this morning to try to open a checking account…read morefor my incarcerated uncle who received a Stimulus check with no way to cash it. When I walked into the office I was greeted by friendly tellers. I let them know that I had called ahead after speaking to a representative over the phone about opening a Power of Attorney account and Lisa Ellisor, the VP/Bank Manager called me into her office. I explained to her the situation the same way I had to the rep the previous day and I could immediately sense her disdain. She told me that she wasn't going to open the account for me, even though I had a power of attorney which by law should allow this type of transaction. She told me I needed to have the power of attorney filed by the state. This may be a formality but it came across as more of an excuse to not open the account. I asked her if she wouldn't mind reaching out to the compliance officer because the original rep I had spoken to let me know she had went through the bank's compliance officer, Rhonda to make sure there wouldn't be an issue. This request upset her, she rolled her eyes and explained to me that she wasn't going to open the account no matter what and that she had been working there for 14 years while the rep I had spoken to had only been there for one year and didn't know what she was doing. After she spoke to the compliance officer she told me she still wouldn't open the account unless it was filed. Which I expected at that point because she was already upset. Even though I couldn't have been in her office more than 10 minutes and I just wanted to be sure since I had just driven 40 minutes that morning to meet with her. I asked her before I left if I could come back when If I was able to get the PoA filed and she told me I probably wouldn't be able to get it filed because it would have to be in the same county the power of attorney was filled out at and to try Woodforest bank inside of Wal-Mart since their standards are lower apparently. I really wanted this to run smoothly. Due to the nature of the situation It's really daunting to have to put yourself at the mercy of each individuals/businesses prejudices. I felt judged and rejected. I was hopeful because when I spoke to the original rep, she was very friendly and made it seem like the bank would be more than willing to help out and I could tell she sympathized with the situation and the extra work it takes to go through this process. I really hope that Lisa in no way tries to retaliate against this rep (I wouldn't put it past her) because she did a good job listening to my situation and represented the brand in a really good light. I think I just got unlucky this morning meeting Lisa Ellisor. Also, for anyone else in the company or banking industry who reads this, the documents I presented were as listed; Original Notarized Statutory Durable Power of Attorney, photo copy of Prison Identification (with picture), a receipt for drivers license renewal from State of Texas, all of my uncle's information such as SSN, D.O.B, etc, and my own identification. My intention was to open a checking/savings account for my uncle in his name and with myself as power of attorney to utilize his stimulus money to go towards his legal troubles. One more thing worth noting, no one was wearing a mask and I write this as the COVID delta variant is rampant. I wasn't concerned for myself as I'm vaccinated but this bank doesn't seem to have updated protocol that is consistent with the latest CDC guidelines. Something to keep in mind.

Well, Blakes proposal was a few dollars more than the cheapest proposal I had received. I decided to go with him for my insurance needs. The main reason was that he was local and that he took time to work with me to find the best insurance for me possible. He committed to always be there in case I Had any questions or concerns. His office always answers the phone and answers my questions or requests. Even though he was a little higher than the other quotes I received I am a very happy client and certainly glad I decided to go with Blake. I recently received a $125 discount on my renewal quote for safe driving and low mileage.

I'm so, so glad that we were insured through State Farm. The folks in this office and those working the 1-800 number were wonderful to work with, and made an incredibly frustrating and stressful time in our lives as easy as they could. Absolutely everything was covered. There was the obvious stuff, like replacing things that were destroyed, our hotel bill, and the reallllly expensive bill to have every.single.thing we own cleaned. And then there things we didn't even realize they would cover, like all our gas and meals until we could find a new apartment. A sidenote: Renters, please make sure you always have renters insurance, even if your community doesn't require it! It's really cheap, and we would have been super screwed without it.

Unlike traditional banks, UFCU embodies everything a great credit union should be: reliable, customer-focused, and forward-thinking. Their staff is always extremely friendly and helpful, whether I'm visiting a branch, using their online banking, or calling them. Their app and online banking tools are consistently up-to-date and easy to use, making it effortless to manage my finances no matter where I am. I love that funds deposited are immediately available, which is something I've rarely experienced elsewhere. On the rare occasion when I've had fraudulent charges on my card, UFCU has acted swiftly, restoring the funds to my account in no time--far faster than the weeks it took a big-name bank to do the same. Their loan rates, including auto loans and lines of credit, are very fair, and they always go the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction. UFCU's extensive network of branches in Austin, along with shared locations across the country, makes it incredibly convenient to bank no matter where life takes me. The free ATMs pretty much nationwide are an added bonus. For anyone in Austin--or anywhere else looking for a dependable, customer-first credit union--UFCU is the clear choice. It's a place I plan to bank for the rest of my life, and I can't recommend them highly enough!

Often they'll ask you if they need extra things, but in my case it was great to hear her being willing to pass extra information on to them. The one thing I am truly wanting to see there, which they may have and I just didn't look around well enough as I was a bit tired, are private rooms. Rooms where we discuss Business without anyone else hearing revenue and profit numbers, etc. I'll be shopping for a great business bank/credit union here soon, and I'm hoping to see some private rooms at the UFCU near where I live. *** First impressions will forever be Everything. And my first impression of UFCU, at the age of 34, was notably Excellent. I *Highly* recommend Becky Schlapkohl at this location.

Keith was knowledgeable and helpful for the most part, but there were many things I had researched about asset allocations in a divorce he had never even heard of. What should have been handled in 2 meetings ended up taking three because Keith failed to tell both my ex-wife and myself all documents needed for our second meeting, so we were forced to attend a third meeting to reach an agreement with our finances and my assets at his going rate of $195/hr. An unnecessary expense had Keith just told us what we needed to bring in the first place for our second meeting.
