I went in to UFCU for the very first time seeking to apply for an auto-loan. Becky Schlapkohl has to be one of the sharpest, most knowledgeable employees, possibly managers, of UFCU and the credit union world. Every question I threw at her, from different angles, she was able to explain. Kind, patient, and sincerely eager to help. She communicates directly with the loan underwriters, so you can have her forward other things to them to increase the chances of your loan approval or a better loan rate. Often they'll ask you if they need extra things, but in my case it was great to hear her being willing to pass extra information on to them. The one thing I am truly wanting to see there, which they may have and I just didn't look around well enough as I was a bit tired, are private rooms. Rooms where we discuss Business without anyone else hearing revenue and profit numbers, etc. I'll be shopping for a great business bank/credit union here soon, and I'm hoping to see some private rooms at the UFCU near where I live. *** First impressions will forever be Everything. Hey Ufcu, thanks for breaking my debit card and drivers license in half this morning First words out of your tellers mouth once I told him this had happened, "it's not my fault, you did it" Managers input, "you can order one online, it's not a big deal" Yes I'd love to spend my own money for y'alls Mistake. I'm really getting fed up with y'all. I've been with y'all for years but it seems it's just getting worse. We will not get into your shady, 35 minute long approval process to even speak to someone on the phone... I really think it's time to take my banking, car loans, and credit cards to another Credit union that will value my continued relationship with them. This place is one of the best locations for the credit union! The line (if there is one) is short and the service is fast! They also have a drive thru which is on the backside of the building if you do not want to get out of your car. They offer the usual assortment of credit union services and none of the major BANK FEES! I switched last year and wish I would have done so years ago. My least favorite UFCU branch. No tellers to talk to directly. You have to go up there phone booths and send your information in a canister and wait for someone to appear on the screen. You have no idea how many people are waiting in front of you or how many cashiers are working. You have to use a phone that is not cleaned to speak to the cashier. Not ideal. read more

This is one of my​ least favorite UFCUs. The ATMs are always down. Lines are long and don't move as fast as the other ones either. The service inside is very friendly as you'd except with UFCU but again slower than most. The parking lot is not fun. Very narrow and shared so in peak times it can be tricky. It's not terrible but not the best either. read more

Went in on my lunch break to deposit cash and was accidentally given the cash back tucked into the back of an envelope, naturally not being able to see the cash I tossed the envelope into my glove box before driving away. They didn't realize their mistake until my bank called them and informed them of it. When the deposited amount was bounced out of my account that afternoon, they called me 5 minutes before closing when I was back at work and unable to answer. I went in the next day on my break to inquire why the amount was bounced, and instead of apologizing in any form they accused me of stealing their tube shoot container - which I visibly returned on camera - but they were insistent that it was not. They kept saying they had be on video leaving with it, but also could not show me the video - which I was understanding about - but they stood their ground that I stole tube refusing to review the footage. I was obviously upset and confused about the whole situation, but instead of offering any consolidation they stood their ground that I was stealing from them (Why would I do that, return the next day, and lie about it? What would I even do with the nasty tube? Why would I want it?) instead of properly reviewing their video footage or offering any sort of apology for making a mistake wasting my time and money. Twice in a month I've gone in late in the afternoon (around 3) and someone is on lunch with a few people in the lobby with one banker available. I check in with the guy at the big desk. He tells me there's one person in front of me, points at a guy, and tells me to have a seat. The guy waiting is pacing asking "how much longer?" He finally bails after another 5 minutes. Yay, I'm next. The other person returns from lunch. She speaks to the guy at the big table to see who is next... To my surprise, again, the second time in a month they point towards someone that hadn't been waiting, at least as far as the rest of could tell. So I questioned it. "Why is she next when you told me there was one person ahead of me, you pointed at the pacing guy, and now you pick a woman who was in the back making a deposit? " The banker returning from lunch, the kid working the counter and the customer fired on me like they were holding AK-47s. You know, had you said, there's two people ahead of you, there would have been no questions asked. But I was told one, you pointed at the man, and left it at that. So twice I've been told my place in line during two lobby visits to have it change. This time I questioned it and was met with unprofessional responses. The two employees were not on the same page and somewhat combative. Really bad business. The guy should have owned up to his mistake in counting customers instead of acting like I was butting in. Way to go UFCU. Pffft. You're a bank. It's important your employees know how to count. read more

UFCU has been my credit union for a number of years with no issue; in fact, I've rarely needed to check in with them about anything until recently. When my sister and I needed to close a deceased relative's account with an unexpected outstanding line of credit (it's complicated), Greg N. was incredibly helpful and went the extra mile to make sure everything was handled thoroughly and kindly at a sensitive time. My wife and I opened our account with UFCU Lakeline back in 2003 because they were offering a 5% interest rate CD at that time. We also opened a checking account as a way of paining our recurring utility bills electronically. Unfortunately we discovered during the succeeding years that a financial institution 20 miles from our residence in Lakeway was inconvenient to say the least. We tried several times to have UFCU open a more convenient branch closer to our residence to no avail. After almost 18 years of experiencing the inconvenience, we opted to close our accounts. We then discovered that they charge a $10 per month service charge on their checking accounts without a direct deposit option which we feel is excessive greed on their part. If you too plan to use them for your financial needs, be aware if you opt to omit any direct deposits to your new account or live outside of their limited service area. read more

This is so hard to believe. What use to be a an amazing Credit union has now, gone down hill. They disputed my account without consent, and told they would work on sending me a correction letter almost 2 months ago. Because of their error, my money is tied up in an account that won't allow me access until UFCU sends me a letter. They told in November they would send me a letter, was told to check back by the end of November 2022. They couldn't find my case. So, I call back and they told me oh yeah, we will have to get back to you on this even though they made the mistake..please fix this so I can get my money out of the crypto account that you guys disputed without my consent telling me that you thought it was fraud and I always purchased crypto with UfCu account. This is a review of ALL of what is University Federal Credit Union- what HORRIBLE service! God forbid you travel for a living and need to find a shared branch. First off, they NEVER answer the phone. Do yourself a favor and go ahead and "press one for a call back". They will call you back and give you incorrect information sending you on a wild goose chase for shared branches that actually are NOT shared branches. When you finally find one, plan on waiting an hour or two for UFCU to answer them and to approve and cooperate with your transaction. Hopefully there is coffee available. I try to avoid coming here like the plague. Worst customer service I've ever experienced at any UFCU branch. When I don't have any option, and have to go through the drive thru, it's always a terrible experience. The tellers literally don't have a shred of respect for the customer. Every time I go, even when there is no line, I'm lucky to even get eye contact let alone a greeting. I'm serious, they don't even bother to say hi. I use to work as a teller and that kind of thing did not fly. You greet and thank every person, even if the building was going down in flames around you. It's part of your job. One time, the teller did my transaction and sent it back with ZERO communication or recognition the entire transaction. After dealing with this garbage from these people multiple times now, I pushed the call button. Teller came on, visibly annoyed. I said "Yes, are we good? Are we done here?" She was like "Yes." I said "Ok, just wanted to double check because you didn't communicate with me." I was nice about it too. I did not scowl or tell her off, just pointed out very tactfully that she sucks at her job and is ruining her company's reputation. Just the other night I was there depositing a check. Watched my stuff go in, waited to be greeted. Nothing. Really? You don't know what's going on in people's lives, sometimes just a warm smile, a friendly greeting, a thank you for being here, can turn someone's day around. Just the same, a cold shoulder can put someone off, and the tellers here have done just that. read more

These guys gave us a great deal on a refinance of our car loan, and even pre-approved a second, smaller car loan. The guy in the branch location was super nice, laid back, and friendly. I would switch all of my banking here from Velocity (Velocity has never approved a loan for us, even through over 6 years of being a customers) if not for the fact that they have computer screens in between you and the tellers, even inside the lobby. I get that they're trying to avoid being robbed, but I don't care to feel like I'm being protected against, nor do I enjoy having to pass everything through a phone and a drive-thru-style carrier. read more

BEWARE**I have lost total faith in this credit union. I have been a loyal member for years. I recently discovered that I got charged $3,200 for not show proof of insurance on a "off road" dirt bike that I have financed. So when I tried to get it removed they said sorry it's too late and in order for them to pay it off it would require them to " take money for other members" which is scary. Needless to say they most certainly do not have he beat interest for the customer. I highly recommend not financing anything from this due to a scam like this. I will not stop until this is resolved. Oh and the manager "Lisa" is probably the least personable human I have ever talked to. Not only is she rude. But she offers no options or help. They really need to invest in a new ATM because it never works!! Don't even try to deposit money in the drive-thru ATM because all it will do is throw up your money! It is so frustrating! I just opened up my account here a little over a week ago and in the same day was approved to get my car refinanced at a lower rate. The customer service is exceptional and when you call their customer service line there's hardly ever a hold. Today is a week later and they have already sent my original lien holder their payoff and they have processed the payoff too. that was fast and now im comfortable knowing i don't have another car note until September . So far my experience here has been nothing but positive. I came from Wells Fargo that after 10 years i was tired of their BS but i couldn't be more happier with their service . Now I physically see her put all of her required docs (ID, check) and when they returned the receipt she never got her ID back. She spoke to the SAME woman on the phone and they denied having her ID. No one apologized for the HUGE inconvenience this has caused her, and they definitely did not take any sort of accountability even AFTER speaking to a manager. Sitting in the drive through for over 20 minutes when it isn't even busy is ridiculous. Theyre horrible. I applied for credit card 50 days ago through Cindy Motl. She said they will call me in 24 hours but nobody ever called me. I called and left voice messages thirty times now for Cindy Motl but she never called me back. I talked to other staff at that branch and other branches but none of them help me to have an answer. Each time I was ON HOLD FOR AT LEAST 25 MINUTES. They put an inquiry on my account which caused my credit score to go lower but never issued any credit card. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!! read more

I had a car loan with these guys for 4 years. This week, I went in to pay off the loan. The teller was friendly and helpful. She said she had to get the manager to complete the process. The manager was terse and unfriendly to say the least. She told me I needed to remove my hat. I said I preferred not to do that. She told me they would no longer help me on the lobby and I would have to go to the drive through in the future.
