Right in the heart of Loreto, the outside covered patio makes for a comfy enjoyable dinner. The fish of the day was excellent and we were brought not only free starters but a yummy piece of pie to share as well. The main church was just down the street, so the excitement of the Quincinera strolled and drove by with loud honking and laughter. That couldn't have been better! Wow! This was by far the best food we had in Loreto. The live music, the freshly made by hand sopes and tortillas and the almond Mole enchiladas were out of this world. Pair it with a Hibiscus (Jamaica) Mezcalita cocktail and finish with the most delicious Flan i've ever had, overall this was a 10 out of 10 experience. Didn't even stay after looking at the menu. They try to get you to order a drink right away. The price of a margarita is twice that of a margarita at the Giggling Dolphin (120 pesos versus 60 pesos, respectively). I know Loreto is a tourist town so things will be a bit more expensive, but if you're going to come all the way to Mexico to pay American prices, you might as well stay home. read more

Great little place in Loreto that had some amazing pueblano mole. They accommodated with vegan enchiladas and had some ice cold beers. The hand made tortillas were perfect and the free sopes on the house as an appetizer were very good. read more

This would be by far the best Mexican food we have ever eaten. We started with sopes as an appetizer delivered on the house, along with some margaritas. We followed that up with chicken mole' and Chile relleno. The mole sauce was perfection not too sweet and not too smokey and the chicken was perfectly tender. The relleno was above and beyond any relleno I have ever had. Nice light tomato sauce with chopped peppers and onions and a nice size pepper lightly stuffed and battered. We ended our meal with a delightful serving of flan. The staff was wonderful and we ended the evening with a nice chat with the owner. We will defined return here. read more

We spend a couple of days in Loreto, Mi Loreto was one of our favorites. The food was fantastic and waiter took the time to explain the origins of each of the dishes we tried. While I am not a fan of how sweet Mole can be, our waiter explained they use more almond than chocolate in the Mole. He talked us into trying just a single chicken enchilada with their Mole sauce, my wife loved the dish and was so glad we tried it, for me it was a tad sweet but I can understand how people love Mole as it had a very interesting taste. We both had the fish ceviche as well as the seafood stuffed chile relleno. Both excellent. Fantastic service and a great outdoor atmosphere. We had a great time chatting with our waiter about Loreto and the food that they served. Our meal started with complimentary sopes with beans and pico de gallo and I loved their spicy habanero salsa. This was my favorite restaurant in Loreto. My husband and I ate dinner there twice, during a week-long visit. We had the same waiter both times and he was fantastic. Spoke fluent English, but would also speak Spanish if you wanted to (and was really nice switching back and forth when I was stumped). Always put a fan on us after we chose a table, always asked if we were happy with it, checked our water, drinks, and plates as needed-- just very attentive without hovering. The set-up was lovely. It's an open air restaurant, surrounded by walls made of pallets with various potted plants hanging on the sides, and covered with canvas awnings. The focal center is the cooking area, which is surrounded by what looked like a bamboo fence around the counter. Over that is a treehouse, with stairs leading up to it. We asked our waiter about the treehouse and he said someone used to sleep there a long time ago; now they use it for romantic dinners for two. Sadly, we learned this our last night in town, or we would have arranged that. He said they light candles up there and that it's really nice. The food was great. They start with a free appetizer that's kind of a thick corn tortilla with-- I'm guessing-- refried beans, shredded lettuce, and crumbled cheese on top. It was hot and obviously made to order. Really good. Prices were moderate, but if you're ordering something nicer, they were low compared to other good places in town. My husband had a mixed platter with one chile relleno, an enchilada topped with homemade almond mole (amazing!), and a couple of other things I can't remember. It was 220 pesos, and he couldn't finish it. Our second night, we both wanted pasta and seafood. We ended up coming here after the pasta place wasn't serving pasta and all the seafood places had closed, only to find that they offer pasta with shrimp and white sauce. The waiter said it was similar to Alfredo, but it was lighter and better. I think the dish was under 200 pesos. As for drinks, their margaritas are great, but more of a treat after a week of few wine options was that they have a very nice Chilean sauvignon blanc; they also had a chardonnay available. I don't expect great wine selections in an area where most people are likely to order beer and margaritas, so I was pleased that they some nice ones, and it was obviously freshly opened. I really enjoyed eating here, and so did my husband. read more

Wandering around the Old Mission near the plaza in Loreto, I couldn't miss the line outside one of many restaurants. I spoke to some of the folks waiting to be seated and could not believe the reviews. I put our name on the waiting list and returned 1 hour later to be seated immediately. This is a gringo trap. You won't get sick but you won't taste much either. Catch of the day (sea bass) had the texture of overcooked chicken. I have never tasted less flavorful salsa in my life. The skirt steak fajitas were so greasy and came with soggy flour tortillas - the bell peppers had the only flavor of the lunch. The mango slushie was nice. Ambiance was nice, but the food was so disappointing after all the positive reviews I'd read. Our waiter was overtly solicitous but then forgot our appetizer, then kept pushing us to have dessert or more drinks and then forgot our bill - but reminded us of the tip basket with the same solicitous energy. If you want to stay well and have a good ambiance and are able to buy into the idea of the food much more than the kitchen or wait staff have, or drink enough cocktails this would be a fun place. Just don't expect authentic Mexican food. read more

The food is wonderful and the owner is s gem of a person! People are so nice here. The lady making the handmade tortillas is an artisan! The food is THE BEST! Seriously, amazing! And we are foodies! The atmosphere is very rustic but very romantic at the same time; very intimate setting, surrounded by old wood and trees above, it is quite charming! Our friend recommended this restaurant after looking on Trip Advisor. So we tried it! Very friendly place and the owner was great. I had garlic shrimp & steak, a mango margarita from a mango tree standing in the middle of this outdoor restaurant and a coconut margarita. Both were to die for. The shrimp and steak were amazing. I normally don't like mole but this was good! I sampled a bit and the owner told us that the mole was made with almond and less chocolate. There were also 3 kinds of Chile Rellenos. Cheese? steak & can you believe plantain! our friend indulged in the plantian which she enjoyed. By far the best place to eat near shops. We will for sure be back when revisiting. read more

The reviews here don't lie- Mi Loreto has Excellent fresh food! The Mole is a must if you are lucky enough to dine here. Ever since my friend's grandma made her special mole for Easter (in Mexico City) I have been on a search for mole that was as good as hers, always to come up disappointed, until now. Wow! So good. We had another incredible Loreto meal here with wonderful service including a Mescal history and tasting lesson. Located right next to the Mission in the central district. We had a garlic prawn dish and blackened catch of the day fish dinner, guacamole and a mescalito (like a margarita but with mescal). Prices were a little more than some of the other nearby restaurants but we had wonderful live music and special free appetizers - I'd definitely go back to try out more on the menu. read more
