We loved our dinner at Mi Loreto, located on the main street of Juan María de Salvatierra, just a little past the historic mission church. We had a group reservation, which seems to be common - we later tried to come back as a party of two and they were booked out! It's lovely indoor/outdoor dining - covered but open. Staff brought us a complimentary amuse bouche, plenty of chips and guacamole, and the menu had plenty of variety with options for vegetarians. I appreciated the different margarita flavors but my tamarind marg was a little chunky/gritty. Perhaps this place has become more tourist-friendly and bland due to their location, but I think it's still a great option, especially for a large group with many opinions and palettes to please. read more

Such a fun ambience, such amazing food, such great service! We ordered the nachos with the flank steak. The guacamole was fresh and delicious... Just incredible. For entrees, I had the flank steak fajitas and the wife had fish tacos. She said the fish tacos weren't her favorite but she raved about the nachos. The fajitas were wonderful in every way. We visited January 1st the entire town was empty and only two places were open. The line for this spot was long and they were asking if people had reservations so we were nervous we would have to wait long. We only had to wait about 25 minutes for a table for 4. Had a wonderful experience at Mi Loreto! Arrived later evening without a reservation and were seated right away. The patio was spacious and felt comfortable while still being cozy on a cooler evening. As a person with dietary constraints it's SO appreciated when waitstaff are attentive and understanding and this was one of those places. After I went through my questions during our order, the server returned and swapped out the complimentary sopa I had given to my tablemate to one without dairy without asking. The meal was one of the best during our stay, and my only regret is that we did not get a chance to return during our trip! Highly recommended! read more

Delicious! We went for lunch one day and the food was great. We caught fish, and brought it to Mi Loreto/, and they prepped it 3 ways. I feel bad that we didn't tip on what the cost would have been if we bought the fish there, because the wait staff did the same amount of work. We were able to make a reservation via Whatsapp prior to getting to Loreto. When we arrived to the restaurant on a Saturday evening, there were still plenty of tables for walk ins; however, it is a slower time in Loreto. We were greeted and sat right away, and our server came right over. He asked English or Spanish, so it was nice to have English speaking, as our Spanish isn't great. He asked us if we would like a complimentary appetizer, and of course we agreed. I cannot remember what exactly it was, but it was delicious. Don't turn it down! He helped me decide on a margarita, and also gave some food suggestions. The margarita was flavorful- a little sweet, so just one was enough. I had the Pescado Culichi for food, which was fish with a poblano sauce and topped with shrimp. It could have used a little more spice, but the fish and shrimp were each nice and tender. We ordered some tequila for our dessert. They bring the whole bottle of whatever you order, so you can see it. I thought that was a nice touch. Overall we enjoyed our experience. My husband ordered the grilled fish. It was fresh and tasted good. I would go back for that. I ordered the chicken mole and I was disappointed because the mole was watered down. It was lacking flavor. Ambiance was nice. There's a lady singing accompanied by a guitar player. They were good that my husband gave them a $10 usd tip. The downside was waiting for food. It took more than 30 min so dinner was way too late than what we're used to. Update: we went back for a second time. I had the fish with garlic. Very good. Very cute little spot we ran into won visit Loreto, nice vibrant colors nettled in the middle of downtown Main Street Loreto. We sat once by the bar fantastic Mezcalitas! Our second visit with the family was in the main dining area under the palapas. We had a bit of a language barrier issue with the waiter ordering the same drink but resolved eventually. Freshly made food, I ordered the chicken sesame mole, food tasted great after a long wait, it came in a bit cold.. My camarones Al ajillo were amazingly good. The sauce was buttery and so flavorful. I asked for tortillas so I could mop up every bit of it possible. The iced tea was sweetened so we didn't finish it - I'm sure that is just a communication error on our part. My husband tried the 3 enchiladas each with a different sauce and loved the one with the mole' the best. He said the green was also very good but he just raved about the mole. It was a little sweet & not super dark as it is made with almond rather than peanut butter. Finally we had the corn pie for dessert which was amazing. Kind of like flan but with corn so not quite as creamy as flan. Service was excellent, helpful, and friendly from everyone. We will be back for certain. The pedestrian walkway in Loreto is a delightful place to spend time. Looking for a place for lunch we found Mi Loreto. It had a five star rating so we just had to try it out. The setting is delightful. A nice open air spot it with ample Sun cover and great air circulation. The service was good and the mostly male servers were friendly and made people feel welcome. The tortillas were very good. The menu was very limited, we assumed because it was lunch time. I had shrimp fajitas which could have had more shrimp and less peppers. The flavor however was very nice. My wife had the Sopa's which were an appetizer. They were good but lacked flavor. We found that Mexican restaurants in Mexico seem to use less spice than we find in the U.S. Overall, I didn't think this was a five star restaurant but the setting was great and we enjoyed the experience. Food was American priced, so a little expensive ($18-$25 meal) for dinner, but we'll worth the price! Food was delicious, chips/salsa/small appetizer was free, drinks were tasty. Service was good and punctual although we were there when they opened on a Sunday so not busy. Potions were medium. I felt it was a little overpriced. We came here with our two daughters (age 3 and 5). One of them had their first sopa, they loved the lemonade and split a spaghetti. My husband got the pork dish near the end of the menu and I had a spicy shrimp. Pro tip- you can get half flour and half corn tortillas. The service was outstanding. My husband kept saying it felt like we were in a treehouse. It was a lovely spot for a family dinner. The only thing we did wrong was order 1 flan between the four of us. Mi Loreto is WoW! Everything is SO delish! Every dish reminds me of oaxaca style cooking. It is very authentic and fresh. Some of our favorite dishes were the cochinita pibil, chicken / red mole and pork / green mole. Every dish is served with an appetizer, soupa with beans, cheese and salsa. All drinks are good, Jamaica Margarita. Food is very fulfilling, even took my left overs. They was just as good! Customer service is great. Staff makes great recommendations and hands on. A restaurant in a nondescript building on a street under repair and currently blocked off just beyond the restaurant address. Don't let that stop you. Enter and be shown a table by a friendly waiter. Dining room is outside and inside at the same time. Lots of air naturally circulating. Masks still in use here by natives and visitors alike. It was a Thursday night. We set out on foot from the hotel around 8 p.m. and were there in minutes. The menu is loaded with all the regular food you'd expect as well as local seafood, etc. But look close to find variations of old favorites. A Cadillac margarita en las rochas con sal started if off for me. An on-the-house appetizer followed close behind. So far, good enough. I told the waiter that I was thinking of a Mexican combination meal, you know, enchilada, chile relleno, rice and beans--the standard stuff. But you are in one of the great seafood places in the world. Didn't care, wanted "Mexican food." "So, what is this relleno with plantain? Never heard of this before." But more than that, was it any good? Oh yes, was the reply. You will like it. "Okay." Not a fan of live guitar music during dinner. But while the food was in prep a polished singer with guitar, seated near the entrance, played and sang at just the right volume with songs you'd recognize but the playing of which wouldn't make your food go down in lumps in time with the music. I won't bore the reader--if you've gotten this far--with the ingredients of my dinner except to say it was terrific in every way. But that chile relleno plantain thing . . . wow. Most excellent. Never had anything like it before. And as the restaurant owner later explained I probably never will unless I return to his restaurant. He told me he was from Veracruz, but the recipe is an adaptation of a Cuban recipe from his family, or something like that. Just try it. Whoops; I lied. I will bore you with one more thing: The enchilada had choices of sauce toppings. I chose the Mole Negro. Delightful, and again, different than the regular fare we mostly see in the U.S. Flan, just about right as near as I could say, not being a flan expert. Go here. You won't be disappointed on any level. The menu is extensive so don't imagine that this is just a rice and beans joint. It is anything but. If you must have seafood, it's here too. read more
