This place lives up to the hype. This was the closest New Haven style pizza I've had in Texas. My…read morefavorite pizza was the pepperoni and Clam. I've heard the Basic was nice too. But the chicken pizza was average. The pizza was holding well to its name. We didn't try anything else other than garlic knots which was okayish. And nothing extraordinary about the tiramisu. And I liked the service and ambience was definitely vibing with the remodeled garland downtown. A great place to hang out with friends and family.

(just a fun fact) They seem pretty proud of that fact too, considering there's now a giant cowboy hat sculpture, "The Big Hat," right across the street. It's impossible to miss. Anyway, we weren't there for hats. We were there for pizza. First, a public service announcement. Figure out what you want before you walk in because the menu is only available through a QR code, and it is awful. You scroll. Then you scroll some more. Then somehow you're still scrolling. It feels less like ordering dinner and more like reading the terms and conditions for a mortgage. The two of us ordered a large pepperoni pizza, which turned out to be ambitious. We ate leftovers for days. Next time I'd definitely order the smaller size. My only real complaint about the pizza itself was the pepperoni. There was just TOO MUCH of it. Sure, I could have asked for "light pepperoni", but then I'd be paying full price for less topping, and that just goes against my personal philosophy. I'd love to see a "light pepperoni" option priced accordingly. ALSO not it is the good and greasy cupping pepperoni, kinda spicy. The pizza was also a little unevenly prepared. About half had a thicker crust while the other half was noticeably thinner. I definitely preferred the thinner side. Service was perfectly fine, the bathrooms were clean and nice, and the pizza was good overall. Just be prepared for the QR code marathon before you get to enjoy it.

One thing I wish about my experience at Cafe Frida is that I HAD IT SOONER! Oh my!…read more I rarely find myself in the Garland area, so when I began taking some pilates classes nearby, I knew I needed to find all the cute local gems! Cafe Frida being one of them! Not only is this cafe so cozy and comfortable, there is plenty of space to sit! It would absolutely be perfect for anyone looking for a good working from home location as they also have plenty of outlets! And the service! Oh my, the girls at the front have been so sweet and kind! They often make conversation while also helping choose the best options on the menu! Now for the good stuff! The Menu! I have yet to try any of their food options, but I have had a chance to try both their iced and hot lattes! I can confidently say that Cafe Frida knows what they are doing when it comes to a good cup of caffeine! Sometimes, especially when ordering something with a bit more sweetness, coffee or espresso can lose it's taste, and as someone who craves the taste of coffee and espresso, Cafe Frida def makes sure all flavors are balanced! I just love when a coffee isn't overtaken by so many different flavors! I already cannot wait to go back! I attend pilates on Wednesday's, so they will def be seeing me again!

It was great seeing people come together, play a childhood favorite, and connect with the community in such a welcoming space. My daughter ordered the White Raspberry Chocolate Matcha, and it was a unique and delicious drink. The matcha flavor was still prominent, while the white chocolate and raspberry added a nice sweetness without overpowering it. The atmosphere was cozy, and the staff were friendly throughout the event. Definitely a spot I'd return to for both the drinks and the community events!

Overall: 4.4/5 [dine in]…read more We love the decoration inside. They hang Vietnamese artifacts everywhere from snacks to comic books to stickers, and the walls are covered with pictures of their extensive menu. It took us a while to decide on just two items but we will definitely be back. One thing to note is that they do not have a tip option when paying with a credit card since it is self service, so bring cash to tip. They also have self service iced tea which is a nice touch. Rice Cracker With Vegetable and Caramelized Sauce / Com Chay Kho Quet Rau Luoc ($17.50): Wow, finally a place that has this and does it right. The rice crackers were crispy but not hard and the kho quet was umami and had a nice spicy kick. The rice crackers and vegetables paired perfectly with the sauce. This is the best kho quet I have ever had and it made my husband's top 3, which is saying a lot since he grew up in Vietnam. Combination Sticky Rice / Xoi Man ($12.50): I loved the flavor combinations, especially the pate with the rice. I would have liked the rice to be a bit stickier since there were a few harder chunks, but I just ate those with the kho quet sauce and it was fine. You also get a generous amount of protein, especially the hard boiled egg slices. We were completely full after just these two dishes. Longan Coconut Water / Nuoc Dua Nhan Nhuc ($7.75): Unfortunately we did not like this drink. The flavors just were not right for us.

Asked for water, as I don't drink soft drinks or tea and the young man told me "we don't give cups for water, what do you want to drink". I said nothing to drink then and got my bottled water from the car. People should be able to have water with their meal, even if you have to charge for the cup or sell bottled water. Just my opinion. Sandwich was tasty but I didn't taste/see much cheese, supposedly Swiss? O rings were good and crispy, fair portion. Side of cheese sauce was TINY, fyi. Service at the counter was friendly other than the refusing a cup for water. Manager/owner came thru dining room to check on customers, good move. I didn't like the credit card surcharge (without being told or signage advising) as I had cash. 15% tip for counter service with the CC surcharge made my sandwich and o rings $18 and I had to provide my own water. Pricey lunch. Dining room could use a good sweeping, washing and painting. Both restrooms had signs on the door that they were out of order, but employees used them? Food and service 4 stars, minus a star for unannounced surcharge and no water. I would go again but not dine in, so I can get water and use the restroom.

Chicken-fried brisket is the star of the show here, and it's every bit as legendary as the hype…read moresuggests. I went specifically for their signature dish (the one they proudly call themselves the "Home of the Chicken Fried Brisket"), and it delivered exactly what everyone raves about. They take a thick, oak-smoked brisket slice--already juicy, tender, and loaded with smoky flavor and perfect bark--then coat it in a craft-beer batter and fry it up. The crust comes out shatter-crisp and golden, never greasy or soggy, while the brisket inside stays beefy and moist. That peppery burnt-end gravy poured over the top is rich, savory, and ties everything together beautifully with a scoop of skin-on mashed potatoes on the side. It's pure Texas comfort food genius--smoky BBQ meets Southern fried steak in the best possible way. I'd order it again in a heartbeat (it's a Tuesday special or weekend brunch treat, so plan accordingly). The rest of the BBQ holds up just as strong. Their regular brisket (flat and point) is consistently juicy, tender, and smoky with that killer bark everyone mentions. Sides and other meats are solid too--no weak links. The house beers are fantastic and pair perfectly with the rich, smoky food (the rustic, woodsy vibe in the historic downtown Garland spot makes it even better for lingering over a pint). Service is friendly and the whole place just feels welcoming. If you're in Garland or nearby and love bold Texas BBQ with a creative twist, Intrinsic is a must. The chicken-fried brisket alone is worth the trip--don't sleep on it! Highly recommend for anyone who wants great smoked meats, great beer, and something uniquely delicious

We ordered a half pound of fatty brisket and a side of Mac and cheese. The brisket was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. It had a nice smoke but it was pretty mild for my taste. The weather was nice and almost every table on the patio was taken. We were seated quickly in a booth, the restaurant is nicely decorated and lively and there were Mariachis playing music which makes for a very festive environment. I was anticipating chips and salsa but none came to the table as they had literally run out since they make their tortillas and chips fresh, anytime we have driven by they are always pretty packed so it seems like they are still trying to work out a few kinks since opening. The manager was very apologetic and even made sure that as soon as they had some freshly made, he brought us some chips and salsa to our table to-go since it was towards the end of our meal, but that I thought it was very sweet. I got the Chicken Poblano plate and it was a chicken breast pounded thinly and topped with sauteed poblano peppers and Monterey Jack cheese. The chicken itself could've used a little more seasoning but it was still very good. Again, since their tortillas are made fresh and they were behind and making them, I did not initially receive my corn tortillas with my plate when ordered but they came out a few minutes later and we're hot and fresh. Once the tortillas came out, I sliced up some of the chicken and put it into the tortilla with some additional toppings and tried some with their green and red salsas, the red salsa was spicy but not overwhelmingly so but the green salsa was my favorite! The plate came with rice and beans which were excellent and I'm looking forward to going back and trying more items. Overall, I highly recommend Del Rancho, I hope they get there tortillas shortage situation handled soon but they have a really nice atmosphere, it's good for date night, group celebrations and very family friendly. I think anyone would really enjoy it.
