LOOK NO FURTHER!. I was very apprehensive and waited years to get this done . Worried about the mess afterwards and, God forbid, a leaking tank but finally bit the bullet and called. ~~spoke to Rich first and I told him my concerns and he quickly and patiently explained what was involved. He suggested that the guys doing the install should come first and inspect what needed to be done so there were no "surprises" or major issues involving removal. This was all before the contract was signed! They are very thorough and wanted to see the situation not knowing even if they got the job...impressive!. Day of job three guys came~~AMAZING guys!..They wasted NO time and got the new tank in the basement~~in no time they had all of my oil from the old tank transferred. Then the digging commenced...Dan could pick up a toothpick with that bucket machine!!! so neat and careful since my well lines were close by. The hole was a small square..exactly big enough~~ plastic was put down nearby so the grass wouldn't get too beat up. Tank was opened and Steve jumped in and cleaned it (YAY NO LEAKS!) and out she came!. Mike did all the furnace work while Dan and Steve removed the old tank...and these guys don't take a lunch break! Say what!!?!?! Cleanup was great as expected... Few ruts in the laws from the machine but that's expected. The whole job took about 6 hours and they worked NON-STOP! MH Tank Co. did an amazing job removing an underground oil tank and installing an above-ground model despite inclement weather and a number of other factors. Rich Coombs in the office patiently explained the process and answered all of my questions. You could not ask for a nicer, unassuming and fair guy in this industry. After sending him several pictures of the area as requested, he promptly provided an estimate, and the office staff secured the permits from our local township's municipal building. I had mentioned to him that our tank was precariously close to our water well and that care would have to be taken when it came time to dig and excavate the 55-year-old steel tank, and Rich assured me that his team would exercise caution. On the day of the removal, three guys arrived right on schedule, despite torrential rains, and got right to work with no complaints. They took their time moving and placing the above-ground tank, ensuring it was on level ground and ran a new line from the tank to our boiler room. Then it was on to the big exhumation of the 550-gallon underground beast. The guy working the front end loader was a surgeon in terms of getting the tank out, and thankfully there were no leaks. Unfortunately, due to an inspecting issue, the job took two days, but even with the rain, backfilling was going to be troublesome. Rich offered a deal on having the guys come back for a second day, which thankfully was not rainy, and they backfilled and cleaned up the work site in an extremely professional manner. While tank removal is not a cheap or easy job, it was a pleasure to do business with this crew, and I would highly recommend them to any homeowner who may have to deal with this. We needed to have an in-ground oil tank decommissioned on site as part of the "closing" contingiency to sell our home in Monticello, NY. I delt with Richard for everything and could not have asked for a better, smoother experience. Rich is very personable and a great pleasure to work with. He guided/educated me through every step of the process. My tank was located in a precarious position on the property, so I thought it best to create a youtube video showing the tedious pathway and terrain that let to where the tank was buried. My requests for quotes on both a decommissioning and removal was delivered very quickly. They set up an appt that was well before the tentative buyer's closing date so that we wouldn't have to be concerned about satisfying that final contingency to close. On the morning of the work, three guys showed up earlier than expected, we're very outgoing, personable/friendly and knocked it out in about 3.5-4 hrs. Even the person who made the confirmation call, prior to the decommissioning date, was very friendly and explained that they'd be emailing me the official completion documentation that we could submit to our RE attorney as proof of satisfactory completion. We just hired MH Tank Co. to remove a below ground 1000 gallon heating oil tank and install a new 330 gallon tank. Good choice! We did a lot of research and read reviews on a number of different companies. Mike, the owner had come over to assess the job and gave us a few suggestions on where to install the new tank and also the type of tank. No other company did. Other companies quoted us a price over the phone or through emails without seeing our layout. He was very nice and low key. After signing the contract, Richie and Sherry kept us informed throughout the entire process about the status of our permits and job. They were very efficient and pleasant to talk to. The install went smoothly. Dan and Mike coordinated the excavation of the old tank also without a hitch. Even though the old tank was almost right against the house, only one half of a plant was disturbed. We were so impressed with the cleanup that was done so meticulously. MH Tank has employees that have worked for them for a long time. They seem to enjoy their jobs and were a pleasure to work with. From Mike coming to inspect the job to be done, to the writing of the final check, this job was done flawlessly. The quality of their work was outstanding. M H negligently caused around 2K in damage to our driveway. Left several messages to the owner and did not receive a reply. They were, of course, quick to reply before this happened. The tank was not under the driveway and all this could have been avoided if they simply put some plywood down before trying to excavate. They also removed my neighbor's tank (we share the same driveway) on the same day and made sure to put plywood down on his side after they caused the damage to my side. Same driveway w/plywood caused no damage. Will have to file suit to recoup the damages. read more
