The balance is what it costs to be bent over the sink (if it was still there). I told him "you must be out of your mind", and he *immediately* says he'll get me a discount. Based on what, I have no idea. I replied there was no discount substantial enough he could reasonably offer based on the insane initial quote, but he insists he'll call his "manager" (the sleazy auto dealer tactic) and see what he can do. Surprise- within two minutes he's back apologizing with a dramatically slashed quote. Be careful- if you don't have a ballpark idea of what your job entails it seems these folks will absolutely violate you. My opinion is they're banking on the customer's ignorance and/or desperation. I don't trust, nor can I recommend, this company. Look elsewhere.

Then there are some idiots and con artists. Estimates are consistently on the high side (sometimes by 2x). Some work they've done (ie: fixing an oiler leaks) has been shoddy as well, however these are more the exception than the rule. When it comes to the big ticket items they're fine, and I personally have not had a major issue with timeliness (just complain if you get a cancellation, however I would use them as reference point (inspections) and for emergencies. For anything more significant, better off hiring experts instead of generalists.
