My husband was craving Mediterranean food and while researching options, we stumbled across Mandaloun. I have no doubt that sooner or later, getting a table here will be impossible because the food is that delicious. We didn't have a reservation but they still accommodated us with genuine hospitality. Our waiter, Marcelo, was exceptional, super attentive, warm, and went the extra mile without ever being overbearing. He gave us the perfect recommendations and took his time pointing them out. I started with the babaghanoush, and let me tell you... it was the best I've ever had. And we just visited the Mediterranean recently, nothing compared to this. It was savory, smoky, and downright addictive. I only wish I had more pita chips to scoop it all up. The hummus sampler was also delicious. We asked Marcelo for more bread and he delivered. For our mains, we ordered the mixed platter of meats and the short rib. Every morsel was perfection, so tender and flavorful it was unreal. Every bite melted like butter. Talk about comfort food at its best. The chef even came out to greet us, and I told him, "Sir... your food is amazing." I cannot wait to go back! This is money well spent, and I already told my husband I want to bring all my friends here. Also, important tip: It's BYOB, so don't forget to bring your favorite wine. I wish I knew beforehand, but we'll definitely come prepared next time. Mandaloun has earned two new loyal customers. Highly, highly recommend. Wow!!! SIMPLY AMAZING! The place is pretty inside too. Just wish they dimmed the lights a little, but overall exceptional experience.

The olive oil didn't seem to pair super well with it though. Got the Adana kebab and mixed grill to go (sampled all the items at the restaurant while still hot). Chicken shish- fairly tender. Slightly charred. Good flavor Lamb shish- cooked ~ medium with a little pink. Good flavor but could be a bit more tender. I do prefer my meats medium rare so it could just be that. Adana kebab- Tender, good flavor. I think it could've been a bit juicier? Burger- super tender and full of flavor. Best meat by far. Veggies and rice- both very good. I appreciate the attention to the sides. Service - 10/10 Food- 8/10

Beautiful, Fresh, and Worth a Visit…read more I stopped by this cute, beautiful, and very clean restaurant a few nights ago, and I'm really glad I did. My wife tried the branzino, while I decided to go with the dorado. Both fish were fresh, perfectly cooked, and very well flavored. The ambiance is also fantastic--warm, inviting, and a place where you can actually relax and enjoy your meal. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised by the prices. The portions were generous, and the prices felt very reasonable for the quality. I definitely want to come back and try some of their other dishes, especially the shish kebabs and lamb kebabs. I highly recommend giving this place a try. You won't be disappointed!

The shoebox of a takeout box had a habdful of chicken a garnish of tomatoes and tgree twigs of onions. The rushed potatoes were dence in the center and took up half rhe box. Overall if the restaurant wants to improve, and I know it can be good because Ive had amazing food from there before, it needs more thought in the cooking, lower prices as well as a bench in a spot that wouldnt disturb other diners. Before I wrote this update, I reread my earlier review. Everything in my initial review remains…read morethe same, except one. The hummus is no longer a standard served to every table without cost. They still serve the pita and olives, but hummus is now an extra. You can thank Trump for that extra cost as per the response to our inquiry. We've now dined here several more times. It's a favorite, as it's consistently excellent. Our most recent meal was an order of hummus, which is ample for 2-4 people, the beet salad and the special crab cake appetizer, which was better than any I've had all year. Seriously exquisite. While we've sampled many of the menus main courses, all of which we have enjoyed, we went with two orders of our favorite, the tiger prawns, as they were said to be extra, extra large this evening. Served with tasty sautéed spinach and fries, which we were graciously permitted to substitute for the lemon potatoes. The tiger prawns are beyond great. Simply delicious and must be experienced. Better than lobster and rival any type of superior crab or any shellfish. Call ahead to be sure they have them when you plan to dine. This place is not to be missed.

Walking into EVOO & Lemon at 645pm on a Saturday night and seeing exactly one other table occupied…read moregave us momentary pause. Despite the moderately upscale ambiance and clean, contemporary aesthetic, the emptiness made us wonder: did we miss a memo? Was there a sudden local embargo on Mediterranean food? Luckily, the dining room eventually filled up, saving us from eating our dinner in a complete echo chamber. My dining companion and I started off with the Hummus appetizer ($11) served with a modest side of toasted pita. It was tasty and definitely hit the spot. We both decided to keep things light and ordered salads with a side of grilled salmon. I went with the Marouli salad ($16) -- crisp romaine lettuce, dill, and scallions with a lemon-olive oil dressing -- and my companion chose the Greek Village salad ($19), a shepherd-style salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, Holland peppers, feta cheese, olives, and Greek dressing. Both were fresh, well-prepared, and hit the mark. The salmon was also delicious, which is a good thing, because it came with an $18 upcharge that was not listed on the printed menu. For dessert, we ordered the baklava ($13), three pieces of an already intensely sweet treat that had apparently been subjected to an excessive dusting of powdered sugar. As for the service, our server and the food runners were competent but not overly friendly towards us or other diners. I also noticed that the staff tended to take care of tables out of order in which they were seated.. resulting in diners who arrived after us being served before us. Overall, it's a perfectly fine 3-star experience. I'd gladly go back if someone else was picking the spot, but if I'm the one in charge of dinner plans, I'll probably cast my net elsewhere in the area. PRO TIP #1: Bring a bottle of wine or beer from home or stop at the Wine Shop liquor store located on the opposite corner of the intersection of Main Street and Millburn Avenue for some adult beverages to enjoy with your meal. EVOO & Lemon is a BYOB establishment and does not serve alcohol. PRO TIP #2: EVOO & Lemon does not have a private parking lot, but there is plenty of on-street parking and municipal lots nearby. Use the mPay2Park app for the pay-by-plate meters ($0.50 per hour). Meters operate Monday through Saturday from 8am to 7pm; all street meters are free after 7 pm and all day Sunday. If the street is full, the Essex Street parking deck (24 Lackawanna Place) is a reliable backup.

The ambiance fit the name perfectly -- subtle hints of blue throughout that tied right back to "d'Azur." We started with a glass of bubbly and focaccia served with three spreads -- the olive tapenade stood out over the butter. For the first course, I had the duck confit salad -- the duck portion itself ran a little light, but the flavor balance was excellent: sweetness from the strawberries, bitterness from the arugula, saltiness from the goat cheese, and umami depth from the duck confit. It's BYOB, we brought both red and white wine to pair across the meal. The table shared the Branzino with French chard, which was outstanding, and the steak frites, which was exceptional and perfect medium rare. I had the duck breast with mushroom, paired with a Pinot Noir -- a great match, and that same Pinot Noir worked beautifully with the steak too. To finish, we shared three desserts: crème brûlée, chocolate truffles with strawberry and pistachio, and a cognac cake topped with a chocolate whipped mousse, walnuts, and strawberry. Tough call on a favorite, but the cognac cake stole the show. Throughout dessert, the staff kept checking in without ever feeling intrusive -- a small thing, but it stood out. A great night out with drink, food, and cousins from start to finish. The service alone is worth going back for. Highly recommend.

A Great Spot for Fresh, Flavorful Mediterranean Food!…read more We visited The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill in Florham Park, New Jersey, and had a wonderful meal. The setup is convenient--you order at the counter and then find a table to sit. There was plenty of seating available, the vibe is nice, and the staff are friendly.
