I am honestly surprised by the rating for this place. Not sure if we got lucky. Everything was top notch from food to service. Our server was very energetic and friendly from the moment he introduced himself (Roberto). He was extremely attentive and accommodating! Gave great recommendations and fast service. I ordered the spicy watermelon margarita (he brought out the spicy agave so I could add how much I wanted according to my spice level desire... it was perfect!). He did the same with the blood orange margarita which was not as tasty but he did warn me that it was good only if you lived blood orange which I don't but thought it was in interesting drink. The watermelon was top notch though. For food we ordered guacamole to share. Not super impressed with flavor (but I've had worse) and appreciated the portion served. Chips were yummy and plentiful! The corn soup was absolutely amazing!!! For entree I ordered the tamales divorciados and I cannot say enough great things about this dish. It was everything I wanted and best tamales I've had in a while. We took the tres leche to go. Loved the cake and icing not the nut topping but still yummy and plentiful. Cannot wait to come back and try more things off the menu. Highly recommend. Also, we were immediately seated on a Friday night. Seating was comfortable, cozy and semi private. Low light and pretty decors was a plus.

Came here on a business trip from the PNW. First time here and was very happy with my order. Our service was great, our needs were always met, and we were able to get some tables together for a large group of 15 people. The accommodations were perfect. I ordered The Fish Tacos, which I absolutely recommend. We also had some table chips and a baked cheese dip that we shared. The rice and beans were poppin' and the tacos were perfect. I do wish they offered a trio platter of tacos. That brisket and Al Pastore looked amazing, as well. One of each would have been ideal. Anyhow, overall it was a great experience! As always, enjoy & Happy Eating!!

Enjoyed dinner at this upscale Mexican restaurant with family. Great service and delicious food. We started with cocktails, Paloma and a Margarita, and the salsa trio. Wish we didn't have to pay for chips and salsa, but I thought it was worth it. Chips were perfect and loved all the salsas. Had steak tacos for dinner and would absolutely get them again.

I had the shrimp fajita with rice. It was good but lacked flavor. I wouldn't order it again. The hibiscus juice was delicious and refreshing.

Lame fajitas. Took forever and seemed a bit stale. Also, since when do fajitas not come with cheese? Anyway, no onions either. Just a pile of cold red and green peppers with just a little chicken. The flour tortillas were cold and hard. And at $16 I would not recommend

Friendly service, but a small menu. Stopped in for a late lunch and everything was fine, just not outstanding.

Fast service during weekday dinnertime; fine ambiance. 9/10 would recommend!

Came here after the Durham Farmers Market with a friend and wow this place was a surprise. …read more I went with the grain bowl and honestly it is one of the best I have had in downtown Durham. It is built on quinoa and rice with black beans and kale, then layered with corn salsa, tomato cortido, guacamole, and a creamy acevichado style sauce that pulls everything together. It is finished with a crunchy mix of pepitas, nuts, and grains. The balance is quite ideal in my view. My friend had the rotisserie chicken with two sides, kale and slaw, and it was just as impressive. Crispy skin, juicy inside, and really clean flavors. Simple food done right and GF friendly. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared. Prices land right where you would expect for the quality, roughly 16 to 21 dollars depending on what you order, and it feels worth it. My bowl plus side of dark chicken was plenty. A few notes. Parking is what you would expect for downtown, so plan accordingly. Service was solid and friendly, but nothing that stood out. The vibe inside is festive and relaxed, bright and open, and just a fun place to hang out for lunch. Porbably not a special occasion. I also suspect it could get loud when full. This is definitely going into my regular rotation. That grain bowl is going to be hard to pass up next time, so instead of replacing it I will probably just add a side or an empanada and start working my way through the rest of the menu.

Where I am from you can get a shredded beef burrito anywhere but they are hard to find here. We walked in and I was surprised to see that you order at the counter and it seems most of their business is takeout. They did allow us to sit at a table to order though. The waiter did not bring us anything. No chips. No salsa. No napkins. No silverware. I asked if they have salsa and they then brought out chips and salsa. I asked for silverware and napkins after our food arrived and they then brought out those things. We ordered bean dip and they brought out what I would describe as a bowl of water. Both the beans and the cheese were so runny that it was impossible to get either beans or cheese to stay on the chip long enough to deliver to your mouth. Total fail. How can bean dip be messed up? I was still excited for my shredded beef burrito to come. That excitement and any hopes I had for this place went way out the window when the man came back and plopped a shredded chicken burrito down in front of me. Definitely not what I ordered! I literally went there because they have shredded beef burritos, as least their menu says they do. I ate some of the shredded chicken burrito that I did not order and simply quietly boxed up the rest feeling too defeated to eat or complain. Speaking of the menu, they charged significantly more for every single item than the price that was listed on the menu. Once again I did not complain. I was so ready to leave. The horrible bean dip, three tacos for my husband, and a burrito that I did not order cost us $60. Never again.
