Eggs, beans and pick in flour shells, I forgot to ask for corn which I would have liked better. When they get good flavor in such a simple dish you know they put thought and care in their planning. My first visit to Mexico City Grill was a good one! I wanted something light so I enjoyed a salad. I'm blanking on the name, but it hit the spot! The chips and salsa were good and a nice compliment to my salad. Our server was friendly, and as this was during the Covid pandemic, she was wearing a mask. Nope, never again. I have had a really bad run with bad food and worse service lately and maybe I've been a bit harsh with some of my reviews. But if ever a place deserves one star, it's now. Once we were seated, we sat a good 10 minutes being ignored. I finally flagged down a server and asked if she could send someone our way. She seemed irritated and took our order. I have no idea if she was actually assigned to our table or not, but she treated us like we were a huge burden. Strangely, I saw her interactions with other tables and she was much more friendly. The salsa was fine, the queso was passable. She never did bring the side plate I asked for, so my kiddo ended up eating off the cheese dip saucer. When ordering my enchiladas, I was careful to clearly say I did NOT want lettuce on them. It took a really long time for the food to come out and when it did, there were my enchiladas covered in lettuce. There was so much, I had to send it back. Less than three minutes later, my new plate of enchiladas came out and they were covered in so much sauce, I scraped off enough to fill an entire other plate, and they were still swimming in it. It was so overwhelming, you couldn't taste anything but sauce. It was clear that they just slopped my plate together. Our server didn't come back to check on us, either. Finally, everyone was done and we were ready to go. My kiddo was being a disruptive brat, I admit. But instead of getting our check, our server just gave her the stink eye. Dude, we can't leave until we pay, so bring the check and we will get the hell out of there. Final frustration -- my husband had a free dessert from Spot On. He told the man bussing our table and the man said he would bring it out. He asked how our food was and I told him mine was gross and showed him the plate of sauce. He didn't say anything, but when the bill came, he told us he didn't charge us for it. Then the dessert never came. We waited and waited, but I assume they figured that since we already got something "free" (bad food), they weren't giving us dessert. read more

I've been going to this place for 19 years and I think I'm done. The portions keep shrinking and the prices are out of control. I went to dinner with my teenage daughter and including the tip, spent $65. No alcohol. Just dinner and sodas. That is ridiculous. I'd give this a 1 star but I love the owner and the food is good, but I shouldn't leave there hungry after spending that kind of money on two people. read more

I had a lunch date today with my husband. We enjoyed ourselves. Food and service was great. My husband said his Margarita was amazing. My only complaint is the salsa was pretty watery and I didn't get much meat with my Fajitas and the chicken I did get were very small pieces. Customer service was good. I would go again. read more

I really enjoyed my first visit here. The staff is very friendly and fun. The salsa was delicious and the chips warm and crisp. I had the steak taco salad and my boyfriend the beef taco salad. We both really enjoyed our meals and even ate the salad bowl shell. They had a much more varied menu than a typical Mexican restaurant and I look forward to trying more things. read more

Located in the same strip mall as Sushi Club, this place is a hidden gem for us. Consistently delicious, clean, friendly - it has worked its way into our dinner rotation. I like this place because they offer good lunch specials and are generous with the pico and guacamole. I'm a little sad to say the beans are kinda runny and the rice is a smaller portion than what I was expecting. However, my taquitos were cooked perfectly and were great. Mexico City Grill is alright - I had lunch with some co-workers and a client here so I didn't get to consume any of their reportedly tasty margaritas. The interior is cute but the wooden chairs are seriously uncomfortable! I struggled a little with the menu, hoping to find something on the "lighter" side - no dice. Everything seems to be fried or covered with gloppy cheese. I would have been happy with a taco plate or something, which surprisingly is not an option. I ended up with arroz con pollo - the chicken was actually really good. I also tried the famous queso that almost everyone else has mentioned. It is REALLY good - I could see coming back for some tasty margaritas and a bunch of that cheese dip for sure. They recently renovated the restaurant and the general attitude is above average compared to other Mexican food places locally. The waiters are almost always quick to refill drinks and salsa. I reserved a table for 8 to celebrate a friend's birthday. Upon arrival there was no knowledge of a reservation. It was 7pm on a weekday so we were accommodated. Fajitas for two. I've been here before and had some ok to decent food, but once I tried the Mexico City Fajitas I never wanted anything else. Chicken, beef, shrimp, peppers, and onions, served with tortillas and fajita fixins. You can order them for one or for two, and although fajitas for one could easily feed you and your date the $20 price tag for a mound of food can't be beat. This place is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is festive and fun, the prices very reasonable, and the portion sizes huge. My husband ordered the Mexican Pizza and I had a chicken Chimichanga. First of all, I have been to this restaurant more times than I can count. They have always had one of my favorite meals. Today my husband and myself went for lunch. Our waiter was absolutely awful. He had us repeat our drinks and menu choice several times. The key to good service is the person taking the order has to LISTEN. Once my meal came it was missing the rice. Granted it does not say rice on the description, but I've had this meal over 30 times....always comes with rice. I can't explain it. Second, the actual burrito has gotten so small that the plate was half the size of usual. My husband got the chimichanga and said he had never seen one so small. I get that shrinkflation is every place, but for goodness sake, raise the price a dollar and give me a meal that will fill me up. Needless to say, they lost a loyal customer for good. And since I always go with a friend or spouse, they lost 2 customers. read more

We were in a hurry for a quick lunch. We were on this side of town due to an appointment. Overall I was under impressed. To be fair the service was good. My enchalada sauce was not good, tasted like burnt mole sauce. I don't like mole sauce and really don't like burnt mole sauce. The rice I got was mushy and frankly didn't have much taste.. My lunch date got a chicken fajita salad and it seemed like the chicken was not drained. The shell of the salad was sitting in a lake of liquid which was not sauce making the shell a soggy mess. She liked the chips and salsa however I was not a fan of the chips. The salsa tasted homemade and the temperature (spicyness was appropriate.) The service was ample and friendly and we did get in and out in 40 minutes. However, I can't say I would return with other options I like better just down the road. read more
