Hubs loves their food.. I think its ok but not great. We have eaten here twice. On our first visit the service was excellent. On our second visit the service was ok but not great. The first time I got a salad with grilled chicken, avocado, black beans, etc. It was not bad but not a lot of flavor. On my second visit I got a chicken wrap burrito. Again, it was ok but not great. The chips & salsa were not bad but salsa was very mild. I would have liked a little more spice. I am willing to go back & give them another try. We really liked this place! Came in for lunch one Sunday afternoon, and were lucky to beat the crowd. The menu is pretty large, with lots of options to choose from, whether you're looking for just tacos or fajitas, or wanting to try a more traditional Mexican dish. The staff was very friendly and the wait times weren't bad at all. It's a pretty casual atmosphere, and if you're looking for something you haven't tried yet, give this place a shot. If you're not disabled you might like this Mex place because of the salsa fixings bar. The authentic food is good, but most Mex restaurants are good in Bluffton. We have a great Mexican population to keep it that way. If you're disabled the fixings bar is another hurdle for you to jump over to eat. The food is also not brought to you. It's a new place in Bluffton that has great food and superior service. I took my mom to eat dinner tonight. She has fajitas and I had the El jefe burrito. The fajitas were filled with steak and veggies it came sizzling to the table. The cheese dip was perfect and salsa was nice and garlicky with the fresh chips. My family has eaten here before and usually receives good service and good food. Came in today to try a salad. When they first opened, their decor was fresh, now it is starting to look run down. I sat at the bar since it was just me. There was only one table of 3 and one the bar patron all finishing their meals. I promptly received a menu and a water, no chips and salsa. After that, with 3 employees behind the bar walking back and forth, I couldn't get their attention. They were too busy counting cash. After 10 minutes of being absolutely ignored, I left and said I was there to eat, but I'll take my business elsewhere. I will never return and my guess is that if they don't improve, they will be out of business soon. There are at least 4 or 5 Mexican restaurants within a 3 minute drive. We had an OK time here. Food was good, but could have been better. They were almost too aggressive to help take our order LOL. We ordered unsweetened ice tea and they brought sweet tea, so didn't know what to expect. Food was decent. My issue was I ordered a spicy shrimp dish and had a good tasting sauce. Everything tasted good, but with a dish with lots of sauce, you would think there would be a spoon for it. Tortilla were part of the dish, but only a fork to get the stuff into a tortilla. If the dish came with rice, you could have soaked up some of the sauce. We decided to eat at this place bc we saw it driving by. It was all so good! Our server Yenny was so nice and sweet to our toddler. We ordered the special appetizer with chorizo, I forget what it was called. And we ordered shrimp fuego tacos and Baja fish tacos - fyi beans are $2 and rice is another $2, I thought it was $2 for both beans and rice. They gave our son a coloring menu with crayons, and our Yenny our server was so sweet with our son. We also got a Modelo Special and El Capitan drink - beer wasn't cold and the el capital tasted like there wasn't a lot of alcohol. Regardless, food was amazing and hit the spot after a day at the beach. We ate outside, it was a nice day, covered and screened in with one screen open. Big beautiful shrimp and moist chicken. If we had to give one negative it would be the acoustics. New favorite fresh Mexican restaurant- We tried Mexicali Fresh tonight because i have heard good reviews. Well i am happy that we did. The decor is simple and cool, we understand there is more to come! Our server Natalie was so attentive, professional and very sweet. The salsa is awesome. We started with a big bowl of Guac. On the bright side staff was very pleasant but the chips tasted like old oil! Have tried this restaurant three times. First time told the management what the issues were with the restaurant with the lighting and the sound. I've been back two times and they have made no effort to dim the lighting or buffer the noise. In fact the music was louder than ever on this visit! We had to sit in the bar to be able to even carry on a conversation. And the height of the bar is 2 feet above the level of the stools so it is not a comfortable eating position.
