    Taco salad with chicken
    Julia M.

Last night was our second visit to Holy Tequila. I started with a peach margarita and it was good. I was afraid it might be too sweet, but it wasn't. I would definitely order this again. On our first visit everything was excellent & service was outstanding. I had taco salad with chicken and hubs got some sort of meat tacos. We both had margaritas and were very pleased. So last night I decided to get 3 tacos - 1 smoked chicken, 1 coconut shrimp and 1 fish taco. I was afraid that I wouldn't like the smoked chicken as I really don't care for smoked meats, but this was delish. I would order again. 5 stars The coconut shrimp was good for the first few bites. Shrimp was good & not soggy, I liked the shredded mango. But about halfway in, it was a bit overwhelming. and started dripping what looked like a teriyaki sauce. I'd probably skip this one next time. 3.5 stars. The fish taco was yucky from the first bite. To start with, I asked if they could sub shredded lettuce for the coleslaw, but they forgot. Instead of sending it back I just tried to scrape off the coleslaw. The fish was breaded and the coleslaw made the breading soggy. Plus the fish had a mealy texture which was very off-putting. Would not order this again. This was a 1. I got cilantro rice with black beans as my side. Black beans were decently seasoned but the rice was meh. Overall a 3.5. I think our server was new, he seemed a little unsure about a lot of things. Not the best service, but not terrible either. He missed the lettuce/coleslaw sub request and brought hubby cilantro rice instead of Mexican rice. I'd give him a 3. But we like the vibe of the place and food is not bad- except that fish taco, lol. I give this visit 3.5 stars, but we would go back.

Best Mexican on the island! The margaritas are killer (and I'm a margarita snob). All the food was amazing. Go ahead and order some wings while you're there just because they're BOMB. Service was great, DJ took very good care of us. Kids had a great time playing outside by the fountain after dinner. New owners since last summer, so old reviews don't apply. Looks like they've redone all menus and renovated the inside. Much brighter and tastier now!

This place was very much hyped up by several friends. The place looks super cool and has a great vibe. The service was a mixed bag. I visited twice over 4 days. The first visit service was wonderful. The second visit it was okay. Not saying how just that it was a different experience. As far as food my first visit the mahi-mahi burrito was very tasty, I found it odd the side was chips and salsa since that was already on the table. Second visit I got the steak and blue cheese quesadilla which was very good. We had a large group on my second visit and half complained later that their food was either just warm or getting cold. I didn't have this issue, mine was great. We did have 13 people in our party so depending on the kitchen staff this may have been just an issue of timing but still want to mention it. Would I be back, yes. I would love to try some of their drinks. But didn't want to drink and drive.

A group of us were in a bike race today & since it's Cinco de Mayo, we opted for a post-race lunch of tacos. The service was great. Many ordered margaritas but couldn't finish them. They said it was pure tequila & way, way too strong. I ordered 2 tacos. The first was a carnita taco that was delicious. It had pickled onions, carnitas, cream, cotija, guacamole, etc. The taste was excellent but it was small for sure & cost $6. The other was a grilled shrimp taco. This was not good because one of the shrimp in the taco had gone bad & made me gag. I had to spit it out into my napkin. It too cost $6. If I return to Hilton Head I'll likely eat somewhere else.

Server was wonderful. Food was delicious, but we all left so full. Prices were very good especially the Sunday brunch specials. We started off with Churro Bite Appetizers and sone quest dip with our tortilla chips. My husband had the Breakfast Fajita Quesadilla and I had the Juevos Rancheros. Our friends had the breakfast burrito and the Holy Taco Salad. Everything was really good.

This is the first negative review I've left in my whole life. My boyfriend and I came here and these are our thoughts Pros: the house margarita and live music Cons: My enchiladas were just shredded cheese (not even melted) with the meat and sauce thrown on top of the soggy tortilla. His burrito was MID at best! I would not recommend this place. Service was fine.

This was my first time visiting Holy Tequila, and it was an overall good experience. The complementary chips and salsa were fantastic! I got the taco sampler and was pleasantly surprised by my tacos. Our waitress was great, very friendly and provided great service. I gave 4/5 stars because our first impression of the restaurant was not great. We came in without a reservation at about 5:30 on a Wednesday evening for dinner, and the restaurant was pretty much empty. However, we were told by the 3 hostesses that we could only sit outside or it would be a 1-2 hour wait. Surprised by their unfriendliness, we started to leave to go somewhere with air condition, when they quickly stopped our party of 7 adults and magically had a table inside ready for us immediately. We ended up having a great experience, due to the great food and our friendly waitress. As someone who worked in the food service industry for many years, I recommend teaching the hostesses to be more friendly to customers.

I absolutely love this place! It's pleasant, in a great location, and has a giant menu appeasing a wide variety of pallettes for mexican food. It's a coastal spot in Hilton Head with great service and superb tequila selections. I highly recommend Holy Tequila for any date night, a group dining night, a family night, just drinking. Holy Tequila us perfect for any occasion.

They were incredibly attentive to us and wouldn't let us clean up our own baby's mess when we asked to afterwards. No need to order guac and/or queso at this place because they have the Three Amigos option which gives you the chips (good ones here, not the cheap ones), salsa, queso, and guac. Menu offered a ton of variety and combos of individual things. The sides were super good (don't feel that's the case at a lot of similar restaurants); my daughter couldn't get enough of those from our plates. The food came out shortly after that and it didn't disappoint. We'll be back!

Hilton Head Island has seen some changes in food offerings in the last decade, but fresh and new American fusion isn't common. Enter Chow Daddy's. With two locations (the other in Bluffton) we hit this one on Hilton Head. It's a risky place to put a restaurant, buried in the back plaza of a nondescript but high-end shopping center deeeep in the wooded neighborhoods of the island's Southern tip. If you're staying elsewhere on the island, you'll find you have to pay a small fee to access Sea Pines but many people do to get to the Salty Dog Cafe as well. While it may not get a lot of visibility, it is definitely worth seeking out for the very good Latin American cuisine being offered. Out party of five arrived on an August Friday evening after making reservations and were impressed with the cleanliness and upscale minimalist vibe. Dark booths and Edison-style lighting are offset by the daylight let in by picture windows. There is outside seating in the patio (very pleasant in the shade) and a small bar open off the host area. Inside seating is large enough for bigger parties of 6-8. Definitely not a post-beach day place, but perfect for date night, or more dressy family dinner out. Service was quick and talkative; we enjoy chatting beyond food with out severs which makes the experience even better. Apps and mains were delivered quickly with good presentation. We started with the fine fresh corn dip - extra tortillas were helpful to get the last bits. Mains included a fresh and well pattied cheesburger, mix-n-match tacos and two specialty bowls - cajun shrimp with spicy fine fat prawns and an Ahi-tuna poke style bowl. The rice in both was excellent and the portions were perfect. I'll try to un-hide this hidden star with this review and encourage you to seek it out if you live on "HHi" or make your next visit. Rare 5 star from us.

I came here with a bunch of friends from my undergraduate research lab while we were in Hilton Head presenting at a conference. We had rented a condo to all stay together and this place was in walking distance, so we headed over. I don't remember what all everyone else got to eat, or much about the service, but I do remember it was a total vibe. Beachy decorations that were fun but still classy and not too kitschy, warm lighting, good music. I ordered an item probably not even on their menu anymore: pulled barbeque chicken on a hunk of spicy cornbread with a side salad. I checked online and it's nowhere to be found, but it slapped at the time, and from pictures it seems like you can still maybe order their spicy cornbread at least, which was the best part! It had a great cakey texture and some legit heat. The chicken was succulent and tender and the smokiness paired well with the salad. It seems Chow Daddy's enjoyed a decade of success after my visit so long ago. I hope the temporary closure listed on the Yelp page doesn't turn into a permanent one. It was a pleasant surprise to be reminded of this visit and my time with friends.

Great patio area and surrounded by big boats and water inlet. The wait wasn't Terrible and the server had great people skills and very friendly. Now to the food. So for me and Mexican food the biggest test is the chips and salsa. Chips were thick and very crispy so I was excited. The salsa was a bust. Very lacking, not terrible but wanted it to be so good. We decided to order the queso to try it. Very cheesy almost too much cheese flavor that hid a lot of the other flavors. I got the El Presidente and it was very good. The refried beans had loaded flavor. The rice was average but over all very good. The hard shell taco was the best part of it. The girls got the sizzling fajitas and they were fresh and had tons of packed flavor. I ate their leftovers. My wife ate the chicken chimichanga. It was ok but chicken was bland. The cheese queso was also over it which we didn't like very much because the over powering melted cheese flavoring. The alcohol drinks were very good and strong. Worth the money which is rare in restaurants. Overall rating would a 3.8 out of 5 star but we can't give ratings other than whole stars.
