Another trip to Hilton Head Island means an obvious stop at Java Burrito. Seldom do I ever go to the island without stopping here to eat some filling, burrito bowls or try their coffee. First off, the restaurant is located perfect in a shopping center with plenty of indoor and covered outdoor seating. The ordering style is synonymous of most of the "build-your-own" restaurants. I opted for a burrito and chose the "Java Special" as my choice of protein. It has a mix of steak and chicken, cooked in queso. The burrito was delicious and well portioned. Typically, a leaky burrito would turn-off some people from the food, including myself, but it was delicious nonetheless. I went back the next morning for some coffee and opted for a speciality Dubai Chocolate coffee. It was delicious to the point where we could not stop talking about it all morning. All in all, I love eating at Java Burrito whether I want a hefty meal or just some quality coffee. It's to the point where it's a guaranteed visit whenever I make my way down to the island. read more

We decided to try this restaurant after noticing lines at their door and good Yelp reviews. We went there at lunchtime on a weekday. There was a line outside the door. We really didn't know what to expect. Customers form a line where they order and customize their orders. Customers choose the format. Selections include burrito, bowl, salad, and quesadilla. Customers can select a protein (e.g., chicken, pork, beef, veggie) and various ingredients such as rice, beans, grilled vegetables, lettuce, tomato, peppers, and onions. Customers pay at the end of the line. We had a bag of chips and a cup of guacamole. My quesadilla was good. I selected liquid ingredients that made the quesadilla impossible to pick up. I had to eat it with a knife or fork. When I go back, I will select a burrito or bowl rather than a quesadilla. I enjoyed the quesadilla. read more

You order at the counter and go down the line to build your own bowl, burrito, salad, taco, or quesadilla. Tucked away in a strip mall in Hilton Head on William Hilton Parkway is Java Burrito Company. The great online reviews led me here, and it did not disappoint. It's like a Chipotle on steroids that also serves alcohol with a full coffee bar off to the side offering some unique caffeinated drinks. We kept things simple by going with a burrito and quesadilla. The chicken quesadilla (3.5) was a generous portion with fresh flavorful chicken, but the cheese flavor profile wasn't up to par with others I've had, but it was greatly improved when I asked for some queso to spruce things up. The burrito (4/5) was solid and similarly generous portioned, and a few notches above Chipotle in taste. I would recommend a bit of queso to be incorporated into any of the meals to spruce up the taste. There were many staff members on duty even right before closing time, all seemingly working in harmony and generally very friendly with regards to service. Both the interior seating area and outdoor patio were tastefully welcoming, and very impressive for a fast casual counter service type of place. I would recommend Java Burrito Company to others looking for a quick and filling Mexican meal, and probably would return myself to try out some of their intriguing caffeinated beverages. read more

Delicious! For a fast food burrito shop, this place offers excellent flavors, tender meats, and fresh ingredients! They are setup similar to a Chipotle style, burrito bar assembly so you can pick all the ingredients you want. They offer quite a few food options, more than the typical rice and beans. There is plenty of seating inside and out. What would have made this top tier is if the customer service was a bit more helpful. This is a must-visit in HHI! My boyfriend and I stopped here for lunch around 1:30PM. It was pretty busy--it probably took us around 20 minutes to fully get through the order line. But everything was well worth the wait! All the food was super fresh, and our bowls were delicious. I had enough for 2 meals! Worlds better than Chipotle or Qdoba. The staff was very friendly and speedy--they were calm, cool, and collected even with tons of people there. I was able to order coffee at the food check out. My drink came out at the coffee bar just a few moments after we paid. It was loud inside, but there was plenty of seating outside too if that's not your jam. The bathroom was also nice and clean! This is a great breakfast spot with a variety of build-your-own options. I don't like eggs and didn't realize how customizable the bowls/tacos/etc are (you can get anything without eggs--probably should have been obvious), so I got the avocado toast, which was great. They have a couple hot sauce options, so I added some hot sauce to one of my slices, which I definitely recommend if you like a little kick. I also tried one of the specialty coffees, the Creme Brûlée Latte. For a place with "java" in the name, I expected the coffee to be top tier, but unfortunately it was a little bit of a miss for me. It wasn't bad by any means, however, it tasted like a plain latte to me--just coffee and almond milk. I couldn't taste the vanilla or caramel flavors. It was a fine latte, but nothing memorable. That being said, I would definitely be back for the food but might try another drink option next time! read more

If you've ever been to a Chipotle, this is definitely right up that same alley, but with higher quality. I appreciate the fact that it's an affordable meal on the island where things can become a little bit expensive. However, this is somewhere where my family likes to eat every year on vacation. There's nothing wrong with this location. The food is good, but it never seems to be filling. I always end up having to order double or go somewhere else to eat afterward. If it weren't for my family, I don't think I would personally choose to go here unless it was for the drinks. They make wonderful drinks all around, from coffee and tea to alcoholic beverages. The service is top-notch, and everyone is extremely friendly. They offer seating inside, but that seems to fill up very quickly as it isn't a very big space. But let's be honest, who wants to sit inside in a beautiful location like this? Their outside seating is top-notch, and the weather was absolutely perfect. If I'm counting correctly, this is our 5th straight visit to the island that we made sure to eat at Java Burrito. It's just outstanding. The quesadilla I got on Friday night might be the best quesadilla I've ever gotten. I'm not really certain what the difference is, but I'm guessing they just use more quality ingredients than comparable places. And their chips and queso? Out of this world. I made sure I ordered enough so I had a bunch to take home. We keep meaning to come back here for coffee and breakfast and haven't done that yet. read more
