    Lightly sweetened perfection...what's yer name?

Some of the best places are discovered by accident. Pan Fresco Ole is no exception. My DH "found" PFO taking care of business in Bluffton. With the exception of conchas and bollilo, I'm not really familiar with the wide variety of Mexican pastries out there. My husband brought home a fab selection of pastries and I've been a fan since. Their conchas taste like light, fluffy, lightly sweet clouds of joy. They also make something that I can only describe as a cheesecake cup. It is so delicious, and paired with a hot cup of coffee - heaven. There's also something that's my second favorite thing, next to the cheesecake cup, that my husband says is called something like "mollusk" in Spanish. Whatever it is, I like me that (hey, Cirse...wink, wink)!!! One thing that took me a while to get used to is that the majority of Mexican sweets are not as sweet as their American counterparts which, actually, is a good thing. It might also be a good thing that there isn't one here in Savannah!

The second you walk in, it has that fun, laid-back vibe where you instantly feel like you're on vacation. The staff is genuinely friendly, the service is quick, and they make you feel welcome from the moment you sit down. The food came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The chips and salsa disappeared way too fast, the portions were generous, and everything tasted like it was made to order. And let's talk about the margaritas... they are fantastic. Cold, refreshing, and the perfect complement to the meal. It's one of those places where you can kick back, laugh with friends, and leave completely satisfied. Great food, great service, great margaritas, and a fun atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

Maybe there are better things on the menu, but our food was disappointing. The trio (guac, queso and salsa) were just ok. The bland salsa needs some attention. The guac was good enough. Queso was way too runny. My husband's chimichanga was all rice and very little beef with no beans inside. Over priced for $20! The shrimp ceviche app was meh. The avocado chunks were hard, no citrus flavor at all. The whole shrimp while tender were pretty tasteless. Gnarly nachos were ok.
