Si senior! Legit hole in the wall ... if you're a gringo like me, just be chill, soak it in and enjoy the authenticity.

Outstanding food! Stopped by after we got to the island from Georgia and wanted a local restaurant. We highly recommend eating here.

My wife and I ate here the other night with our 1 year old. You order at the kiosk on the bar when…read moreyou're ready, so you don't really have a waiter/waitress, but they have 2-3 folks tending to the tables to make sure everyone has what they need. They were incredibly attentive to us and wouldn't let us clean up our own baby's mess when we asked to afterwards. No need to order guac and/or queso at this place because they have the Three Amigos option which gives you the chips (good ones here, not the cheap ones), salsa, queso, and guac. Menu offered a ton of variety and combos of individual things. The sides were super good (don't feel that's the case at a lot of similar restaurants); my daughter couldn't get enough of those from our plates. The food came out shortly after that and it didn't disappoint. We'll be back!

Maaaaan, I came here YEARS ago (try almost 11, if my photo on FB is to be believed) before I was…read moreYelping regularly, but I saw this restaurant pop up on a Yelp list I was reading the other day and it unlocked the deeply-buried memory of my visit here and I thought...might as well chronicle that memory with a quick review! I came here with a bunch of friends from my undergraduate research lab while we were in Hilton Head presenting at a conference. We had rented a condo to all stay together and this place was in walking distance, so we headed over. I don't remember what all everyone else got to eat, or much about the service, but I do remember it was a total vibe. Beachy decorations that were fun but still classy and not too kitschy, warm lighting, good music. I ordered an item probably not even on their menu anymore: pulled barbeque chicken on a hunk of spicy cornbread with a side salad. I checked online and it's nowhere to be found, but it slapped at the time, and from pictures it seems like you can still maybe order their spicy cornbread at least, which was the best part! It had a great cakey texture and some legit heat. The chicken was succulent and tender and the smokiness paired well with the salad. It seems Chow Daddy's enjoyed a decade of success after my visit so long ago. I hope the temporary closure listed on the Yelp page doesn't turn into a permanent one. It was a pleasant surprise to be reminded of this visit and my time with friends.

Service was great. The burger? Just okay. Not much flavor in the meat. The mushrooms were good, but…read morewith all the arugula on the burger, they were mostly on the side of the plate. Adding caramelized onions didn't really help, but I did dip it in ranch and that helped the flavor. I came here before and the food was good, so maybe an off day today. A large party was inside with us. There was good music playing in the restaurant and we all ended up participating in a singalong.

We came back for more! I only have a picture if devoured food. We don't eat chicken, beef or pork…read moreso we had black beans and corn salsa instead of refried beans and rice. The Chile relleno was good, but the salsa, chips, nachos, cheese enchiladas, black beans, corn salsa and spinach/mushroom/jalapeño quesadilla were awesome! The jalapeños definitely pack a punch so good easy or order without if food gets too spicy for you. The portion sizes are excellent and plenty for leftovers, too. The service was great both times. I wish we could take this restaurant back to California with us.

We wanted to grab Mexican on our first night in Hilton Head. We decided on San Miguel's. To start…read moreoff the set up and scenery is exactly what you look for in a beach spot. Great patio area and surrounded by big boats and water inlet. The wait wasn't Terrible and the server had great people skills and very friendly. Now to the food. So for me and Mexican food the biggest test is the chips and salsa. Chips were thick and very crispy so I was excited. The salsa was a bust. Very lacking, not terrible but wanted it to be so good. We decided to order the queso to try it. Very cheesy almost too much cheese flavor that hid a lot of the other flavors. I got the El Presidente and it was very good. The refried beans had loaded flavor. The rice was average but over all very good. The hard shell taco was the best part of it. The girls got the sizzling fajitas and they were fresh and had tons of packed flavor. I ate their leftovers. My wife ate the chicken chimichanga. It was ok but chicken was bland. The cheese queso was also over it which we didn't like very much because the over powering melted cheese flavoring. The alcohol drinks were very good and strong. Worth the money which is rare in restaurants. Overall rating would a 3.8 out of 5 star but we can't give ratings other than whole stars.
