I was given 3 authorized repair companies in my area by the appliance manufacturer. I did a Yelp search and this company has the best reviews out of the 3. I contacted them and I have to say I did not have a positive experience with this company. They quoted me a diagnostic fee to come out but I was charged $10 extra at the initial appointment which I did not contest as the entire amount applies to the repair. The technician took a long time to diagnose the issue but what took longer was the process of getting them to come back for the actual repair work. The front desk lady never answers your calls and is very slow in following up with the questions, ordering parts, and scheduling a repair appointment except of course for the initial diagnostic new client appointment. They just slow walk the rest of the process. I am not paying a discounted fee for the service but I sure feel that they provided a subpar discounted customer service for the entire experience. To be fair, the issue was fixed at the end. read more

$200 bucks to have a guy come out, put his ear up to my refrigerator, and tell me that he couldn't diagnose it since it was functioning normally right that minute, though I told him that for over a week the temperature wasn't keeping up. He told me to get more data and call him back/send emails. I don't know refrigerators so I trusted him. I then proceeded to collect a lot more data and send pictures/videos, etc. In the meantime, my food is spoiling, because the refrigerator is not working, just the way I told the technician when he came out. No response. Called the office - "yeah, I'll talk to him about it tomorrow." Tomorrow comes, the next day; I keep calling back and am told they'll get back to me tomorrow. It's the end of the week and when I call they say they'll have him come out later...the FOLLOWING WEEK. In the meantime, I've talked to experts and done a ton of reading. All he needed to have done was get behind the fridge and take off the panel and felt that the compressor was burning hot, and felt that the condenser coils were cold, and he could have easily told me that the compressor was starting to fail. read more

When I tried to replace my broken Thermador range, I ran into a nightmare. Due to outdated custom sizing and electrical issues, the cost to replace was heading into the thousands, not including the range purchase itself. Fortunately, I found Metropolitan Services! They sent a technician, Brandon, out right away, and he quickly diagnosed what turned out to be a simple problem with the buttons. Furthermore, he was able to recommend ways to find replacement door glass and a third party to fix the dim display. On his return visit, he refurbished everything with the new parts, and the range is as good as new. During the same time period, my dryer also went out. Brandon was able to fix that during the same two visits, coordinating part delivery so that repairs could be finished in the quickest possible time. Did a great job repairing our Fisher and Paykel Dish Drawer system. When it started leaking we were prepared to replace it b/c it tends to be finicky and is in a rental unit. But, Metropolitan came out and was immediately able to identify the problem (even knew what it might be before they opened it up) and really seemed to know they way in and around the appliance. Our HORRIBLE Asko washer has been broken since APRIL and we've had three other companies come over to fix it. no one could fix it and they all charged at least $150 just for the visit! I have a subzero refrigerator that was running very hot. I asked Metropolitan Services to come look at it. Daniel Jones called me and walked me through some steps to take prior to him coming to my house. He assumed, correctly, that the problem was with a dirty condenser. I was able to vacuum it and the problem is fixed. It cost me nothing, when Daniel could have easily come to the house to do the inspection and billed me for a service call. Prompt service and reasonable price to repair a stacking washer.

When I first called Metropolitan to fix my dryer, I was really happy with the technician, the service and the price and I would have, easily, given them a five star rating. Based on the first good experience, I called them to fix my washer. This time I was gouged. To begin with, Metropolitan tacked on an additional "out of area" fee even though I was within 25 miles of the main office, although they did have to come twice. I guess I can live with that, but not the nearly $400.00 to replace a spring, a spacer and plastic drain hose. That should never happen to a customer, especially a repeat customer. It sends a bad signal, no matter how punctual, particular or pleasant the technicians are. I'm sorry guys; you lost a potentially good customer. read more

This is probably the worst experience I have ever had with an appliance repair company. The initial visit was fine and the technician was friendly and explained that the thermostat on one of my ovens needed to be replaced. He didn't leave an invoice. I called two weeks later to determine when they were coming back and I was told via email that the hinges had not yet arrived and they gave me a date a week or more away. When I called back to explain they had the wrong job they responded by saying I needed both and the thermostat was in stock but not the hinges so they were in fact not in the wrong. I spoke to the technician who admitted he had made a mistake (fair enough) and would schedule the thermostat install that week given I did not need the hinges. But the office workers would not admit they their error and said they were charging me an extra $80 for the install. However they then said they had to in fact order the part, even though they had previously said it was in stock to cover up their error. I got a call the next evening to say the technician would be there the next day and I stayed home from work. Only to get a call the next morning to say the part had not in fact arrived. Instead of owning up to a mistake, I received lie after lie. When I told them to cancel the job and reimburse me my money they said okay. Then I received ANOTHER call from someone else saying they had never agreed to refund the fee paid and would only give me $50 of the $130 because they had given me the part number. Like having the part number was helping me in any way. STAY AWAY. Seriously. If they had just owned their mistake I would have happily waited because the technician was great. But when they start insulting my intelligence with a series of lies and contradictions, it is a huge red flag. read more

My ice maker wasn't working: This was the best experience I have ever had with a repair service. After being ripped off by Atlantic Appliance, a business that falsely claimed to be an authorized subzero repair service, I received a referral to Metropolitan Services from the contractor who installed my subzero. Metropolitan quickly diagnosed my issue- the ice maker did n't servicing, a lever just became stuck and their guy showed us how to unstick it, I thought I needed to replace a lightbulb but the socket was broken. Atlantic repair had said I needed to replace the water line and totally missed the broken socket. Also, there was a leak that Atlantic Appliance said was caused by the ice maker, turns out we needed a new gasket. The moral of this story is use an authorized repair service! After giving up on the horrible service through Bray and Scarff, MSI corrected their faulty work and were great communicators in getting a couple repairs done to our Fisher and Paykel appliances. I've had my Fisher Paykel dish drawer for several years and have been happy with it. Until Sunday night when it flooded the kitchen. I mopped up and checked the manual, which sounded ominous -- disconnect water and power and call for repairs. So when I called Metropolitan Services, who had done a great job with my washer a couple years ago, I figured they'd take care of it, but the fate of my dishwasher was less certain. The woman answering the phone (literally part of the family, I later found out) reassured me, gave me some suggestions to try before scheduling a service call. And by golly, she was right. It's been working great again. No charge. So I was surprised when a tech (the phone woman's brother) called me the next day. Oh, no, I thought, have I triggered a service charge? No, far from it. He called to check and make sure everything was OK. Then he spent another 15 minutes on the phone, giving me more suggestions on maintenance, service call prevention, tips on cleaning, product use, even on a specific cleaning challenge I have, not only on my dishwasher but also my washer. All at no charge. I had their number on my cell phone from years ago (under Fisher Paykel) because I had been so happy with the service then -- prompt to arrive, fast to make the repair, helpful in prevention, and reasonably priced, even it been a run of the mill call.
