Ruined my Italian merino wool sweater. The person who did the collection was too busy looking at his phone when taking my clothes and accidentally placed a shirt tag instead of a red special sweater tag like on my other wool sweater. Now the one sweater is fine and the other ruined .The man remains adamant that it's "not possible" and somehow my fault as they have never shrunk anything once and that there is no difference in the entire cleaning process for a sweater and a shirt. This at least shouldn't be true and highly unlikely. I've been given the owners number with the comment that I will hear the same from him. Took my very old, delicate, 3rd generation wedding shoes to be repaired (the rubbers on the stiletto needed replacing on both) and knew it was a shot in the dark. Repairing them was a little touch and go for a bit but they ended up replacing the stilettos and they didn't charge me because they weren't super confident in how the heels will hold up... BUT they're over 60 years old so my expectations were already very low. Because they were great at communicating during the whole repair process and were honest about what they could and couldn't do with them due to their age and didn't charge me because it wasn't the easiest process (with something so sentimental) I give them 5 stars! To start off, the location is very convenient. It's right next to Tropical Smoothie & Best Buy. There is also a Target close by. Finding parking can be a bit difficult, but prices, flexibility & quality are well worth. This is a cute family owned business & operated w/ nice people with quality work. I'd definitely recommend! I decided to finally act like an adult and dry clean my nicer clothes, rather than destroy them in my washer/dryer. Luckily for me, 90% of my clothing is basketball shorts and t-shirts, so the washer/dryer does the trick. For the remaining 10% of my clothes (probably more like 5% now that I think of it), I bring my clothes to the Met Cleaners. I have had nothing but good experiences here. They give you options on how much starch can be put in your clothes (not really sure what it is), so that's good. I think they also use less harmful chemicals, too. The only negative about Met Cleaners is that it is tucked away in a weird area. Kind of a no man's land between Tropical Smoothie and Best Buy. Overall, a nice place, though. read more

Been living in the midtown area for 5 months now and got a job that required me to dress a bit nicer. I didn't know much about dry cleaners quality before, but after checking out a few in town I've found this to be the best in terms of price and quality. Clothes always done within 2-3 days and very inexpensive! The front lady there is always kind and quick with her service, can reasonably expect to be in and out within 5 minutes. read more

The service and quality were so terrible here, I nearly blocked it from my memory. I took in a pair of nude peep toe heels to have the heel replaced, and also a skirt to have altered in the waist. I returned to pick up my items, and the heels had been replaced with BLACK heel tips, when the originals had been tan colored. I explained to the owner that I needed this to be changed, as nude shoes with black heel tips looks ridiculous. He said that was "very rare and hard to come by." Needless to say, I took my shoes and had them properly repaired at Dean's without a blink of an eye. The skirt remains in possession of Met Cleaners. I tried on my newly altered pencil skirt to find that not only could I not zip it up, the seam was huge and bulky. Like a pillow I made in interior design class in the 9th grade. I have not had any clothing dry cleaned here, but i will assure you that I won't be setting foot in this shop again. The Met has a lot to offer, but it can be stressful enough. Avoid going here. The customer service if horrible and the quality of their work is extremely poor. If they were the last cleaners in Charlotte I would drive out of town to find another place to go before I went to them again! The woman who owns the place has a really NASTY attitude. My sister and I went here to get our dresses altered before prom and then dry cleaned after prom. Quality work. Everything was clean and in good shape. Earlier today was the 3rd time that I've brought my dress shirts and shoes here to get serviced. I figured I would write them a review since their high quality service is consistent. All three times I've experience great service and my shirts and shoes come back to me good as new. I should add that I especially love my shoes and I do not trust many places with then. But my mind is at ease when I bring it to Met's. A very nice couple owns Met's so you get this warm mom and pops store feeling as they greet you when you walk in. It's a busy location since 2 big stores are near it but don't let that keep you away from quality service. I have not been to any other place that is as welcoming while being so consistent like Met's. My friends now go here and I urge everyone else to do the same read more

Awful. I brought in a pair of $200 jeans to be hemmed. When you bring in an expensive pair of jeans to be hemmed you don't want the bottom to be hacked off and simply folded over and sewn up. The jeans are totally ruined. It looks like something I could of done myself read more

I would give Metropolitan Cleaners zero stars if possible. I have never been to a less professional cleaner/alterations establishment in my life. I took two pairs of jean shorts to Met Cleaners for a simple job; I just wanted the waist taken in. Upon getting my pants back and paying over $40 for the alterations, I was unhappy to see that the work had been done very poorly. The pants still didn't fit and the material in the back gaped terribly. I took them back and was assured they could be fixed. When I got them back the second time around the pants were even worse than before. I went back (a third time) to ask for a refund because I couldn't wear the pants and the service I had paid for had not been rendered. At this point, the woman tried to claim she had never even worked on my pants, though I easily pointed out their store tag was still attached. She then switched gears and said that fixing the pants was "too much work" and that I would not be getting a refund. Their only solution was to take out the stitching they had done to return the pants to their original condition. I am now out over $40 and I can't even return the pants to the store I bought them from because they have been altered. It was my worst experience by far with any alterations establishment. I would recommend going literally anywhere else before going to Met Cleaners. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!! Metropolitan Cleaners has to be the worst cleaners in Charlotte... For starters let's touch on the rude and unappreciative lady/wife/owner whatever who works there. The first few visits I thought they were busy or just brief with customers but I was wrong... I picked up my clothing at 5:15 on a Wed and anyone who has been to the Metropolitan will tell you it's not an easy in and out. Once inside I was the only customer there and still no sign of appreciation for my business, just hurried through checkout. Turns out there may have been a reason she was rushing to get me out of there... They lost a pair of my brand new $175 pants!!! I thought maybe an honest mistake at first, whatever... When I brought it to the attention of Met Cleaners the next day they were not even opened on time AND I had to bring another shirt to have it re-pressed for obvious creases on the front. Finally a young guy was dropped off by a mini van in front of the store at 7:10am, I'm nearly late for work. The poor kid had no idea what was going on...I gave them 3 weeks to try to find the pants!!! I went back in to see if anything showed up... Nothing... The lady was rude as hell and attempted to accuse me of loosing my own pants. The clothing sits on the hangers in my closet exactly how I pulled the plastic off... 2 pair of pants to start 1 pair after Metropolitan Cleaners did their magic act... Save yourself the trouble and go to Longs up the street... It will be worth it... read more

This is the absolute worst shoe repair EVER! I took a pair of leather heels to be polished and to have a sole put on the bottom. When I picked them up there were holes in the insole of my shoe!!! Took them back. They tried to fill the hole and replaced with a horrible white insole! When I tried them on, I could not even get my foot in the shoe. He then told me he would stretch them. Lets just say that did not work! I feel I should have been reimbursed the total of my shoe not just the cost if the services I asked for. The customer service is horrible and I was blamed for the extra work that the man ha to do when clearly it was his fault there were holes in the insole of my shoe! I WILL NEVER RETURN AND I SUGGEST NO ONE EVER GO HERE!!!! read more
