a couple of weeks ago i decided i wanted a bike. i hadn't ridden one in years, knew nothing about them, i just wanted one. i had never owned a good bike, just kind of crappy, low-quality ones. i was thinking of just going to target because i thought they would be cheapest there (totally not true). before going, i decided to check out my trustworthy friend YELP, to see if it had and better suggestions for local bike shops. to my surprise, one of the highest rated places (in all of los angeles) was conveniently located in the valley near where i live. metropolis.
i read every single review and got really excited about this place! everyone had written such good things about the selection, the cost, and the KNOWLEDGE and friendliness of the employees. in hopes that this place would be exactly as described, i decided to go here for my bike.
every positive thing you will read about metropolis is true.
i came in here with high expectations and left completely blown away. like i said, i had no real knowledge about bikes going into this. i told them (i talked to a few employees but was mainly assisted by the owner of the shop, whose name i forgot) what i was going to use the bike for and they gave me three different options to try, all within the range of what i needed. i was able to ride all three around multiple times (as much as i wanted) until i decided. i even tried another one of the same model, just because the seat was slightly different. not only would they have let me ride every bike in there if i wanted to, but they answered a million questions i had. not once did i ever feel stupid (even though my questions were). they knew the answers to EVERYTHING. this was NOTHING like going to target for a bike. there, i would have had to look around myself and figure out what bike i wanted on my own. i can't even imagine what type of WRONG bike i would have picked out without the proper assistance. the prices here are what they are supposed to be, mostly MSRP, nothing was jacked up for extra profit. target is no cheaper than this place at all, and the help you will get at metropolis (over target) is PRICELESS.
all bikes come with lifetime service. if i ever have a weird problem i can't figure out, i can bring it back and they'll fix it! that alone is worth extra money, that i didn't even have to pay!
my bike-buying experience was more fun and satisfying than i ever could have imagined. i ended up with a schwinn sierra GS and it's amazing for what i needed/wanted.
i already am thinking about another one i saw there that i want! and i just got mine today! i guess i better slow down with the bike buying, but man, after this experience, i just want to keep going back!
i would give them 10 million stars if i could. for the pro, the not-so pro, the price conscious, the big spender, whatever kind of person you are, if you are looking for a bike/repairs/accessories, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. read more
