(Zero stars if I could) I booked a 9:15 AM pickup with Metro Car Service to get to a 10 AM doctor's appointment. The driver texted that he was "here" when he wasn't, and showed up several minutes late -- the kind of time I could've used to get ready instead of waiting outside. When I got there, he said the ride was $45 even though dispatch quoted $42. He was nice and admitted they "do that sometimes" and told me to just pay $42, but that's not acceptable business practice. Then he drove to the wrong doctor's office -- Mount Sinai instead of NYU -- and I ended up 30 minutes late to my appointment, practically begging them to still see me. Afterward, I called to discuss the pricing issue and book a ride home. Dispatch said a driver would arrive in 5-8 minutes. I went outside immediately and waited in the cold. No one came. I was left on hold multiple times, told different stories, and then saw the first driver marked as a no-show while they sent another one 18 minutes away. After waiting nearly half an hour, I finally gave up and got a regular taxi at 12:35 PM. One of their own drivers told me Metro dispatches jobs to multiple unaffiliated companies and often doesn't pay them on time -- so everyone loses. Completely disorganized and unreliable. I like Metroline. I do. I appreciate that they don't just note your location and say "five minutes," regardless of whether or not a car will actually pick you up in five minutes (I'm looking at you Arecibo). They will put you on hold, find out where their drivers are, and then tell you if it's going to be twelve minutes. And they're usually not that far off, which I appreciate. Also, happily, their prices are usually better than their competitors when I need to head up to Billville.* And cheaper is always good. But I'm starting to resign myself to the fact that there isn't a car service in Brooklyn that is always going to deliver. And that's where Metroline loses that last star. They have been the most consistent for me, but every once in a while, you're going to get a driver who doesn't speak a lick of English. Not even a tiny tip-of-the-tongue. Which in itself is not that bad, especially since it SEEMED like he nodded in understanding about your destination. Like he not only knew where it was, but how to get there. And his facade of competence fooled you, at least long enough that you thought it was safe to check an e-mail on your phone. But then you look up, and suddenly you're getting on the BQE for no reason, and then you're stuck in traffic, and then you're 20 minutes late. And it's all Metroline's fault. But that doesn't really matter because now your girlfriend has broken up with you, your best friend got jumped, the Mets lost, and an aging leper knocked your grandmother down and spit on her. I felt victimized. Take a Lyft or Uber if you want some form of accountability. If you insist on using them and pay by credit card, be aware they automatically add a 20% gratuity. The car wasn't there by a few minutes past, so I called again the operator said it was "two minutes away." Ten minutes later, the car still wasn't there. I had to rush to get a Juno instead. They did a good job. We needed a pretty short haul across Manhattan with a lot of luggage to catch a train and called a taxi service who passed us on to Metroline without telling us. I called the number given on my receipt to confirm they were coming and the car was a bit ahead of time, the driver really helpful and efficient, the price very reasonable. Oh hell no. The car showed up...unmarked. The driver didn't identify himself so I had no idea if he was legit. My friend and I got in the car and, after about 30 seconds, got out of it. He had an overall shady vibe to him. Something just didn't seem right... We called Northside instead. The vehicle was a marked, legit car service. The dude was friendly. We got home safely. I've personally never had a problem with these guys. They're cheap, reliable and sometimes they are wearing a bow tie, and we all- or we all should know- it doesn't get better than a driver with a bow tie. I usually use Northside but when it's a busy Friday night I toggle back and forth and see who will answer first, more often it's Metroline that answers first and honestly maybe that means I should just switch to them for my go-to. They did one time show up with a pretty beat up car, but hell it ran and it got me to where I was going safely so whatever! I also feel like they may be cheaper than their competitors in the area but I've never done the exact same route to actually be able to compare 100%. read more

Absolutely useless. I made an online reservation for my mom around midnight to take her to the airport at 7:15 the next morning. An hour and a half later, I still hadn't gotten a call to confirm. I tried calling them, but no one picked up. Predictably, at 7:15 the next morning, there was no car. I called again at 7:25, and someone picked up this time. He said my online reservation didn't go through. Funny how I got TWO confirmation emails when I sent the form! They offered to send a car in 7 minutes, but I didn't want to risk that they'd be later, plus I didn't want to give them a dime. I sent my mom off in a yellow cab. Thank goodness it wasn't raining, as the weatherman predicted! I don't know how my mom would've gotten to the airport on time otherwise. read more

Woot woot...sometimes the conversation in the car got a little, tiny bit too flirty? Maybe. But after dealing with Mobil (on Union) who left me standing outside the apartment for 30 minutes and hung up on me when I called to find out what was going on. I only called Metroline. The guys are always there in like 4 minutes. They usually are courteous and no frills. If you have heavy stuff, they help you. The staff that answers the phone is professional. I have no complaints. I tried another company once and they were over 30-45 minutes late from getting us from the airport! So I have to say that the driver was on time. Other than that there was nothing positive about the whole experience. We started out and I asked him about his day just to be sociable; he totally ignored me and did not reply! Fine, not everyone is a talker. When I got to the airport I gave him a $5 tip even though I was considering not to during the trip. He told me I have to pay the rest of the fare in cash. I said I reserved the car online and paid with a credit card. He claimed that nobody told him that I paid with a credit card and became aggressive. I had to try to call the company to clear things up. After 10 minutes waiting without able to get through the line eventually the driver agreed to write me a receipt, claiming that he called in and cleared things up. It was just really fishy. I wrote an email to the company to complain about the experience. Nobody responded. Guess what? It was my first time using Metroline Car Service, and it was also the last. read more

RUDE. AGGRESSIVE. OVERCHARGE. DON'T CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER. I can't believe I'm giving Metroline 1 star after 12 years of pretty good service. I use them daily and always get the standard "5-6 minutes" response and generally they arrive between 4-8 minutes. Every once in awhile no one comes and I have to call again at which point they tell me they are sending a different car (this is frustrating, but I can deal with it). Today, however, I called 3 times, was told each time that a car was minutes away, and finally when they arrived, it had been 40 minutes since my initial call. I was going to be very late to work so I called and asked for a discount. They left me on hold for 15 minutes. So I hung up and called from my other phone & they picked up right away. Basically, they left me on hold because they didn't want to deal with me. I requested a discount and I was told they don't give discounts. When I pursued the issue explaining the situation and that I am a regular customer, I was told: "We don't give discounts. The car was waiting for you and left because you weren't there." This was a ridiculous lie and it made no sense in my situation. What a joke! I told them I wasn't going to pay and decided to give the driver $5 as a tip since it wasn't his fault. When I tried to leave the car, the driver locked me in and began yelling at me. I tried numerous times to have a calm discussion with him - he had no interest in hearing anything I had to say. He just kept YELLING and eventually he he got aggressive to the point where I was scared for what he was going to do with me locked in his car. I tried to figure if I could fit through a window or somehow reach up front to unlock the doors. He called the base, and guess what? They said they would discount the ride $5. So, I paid the irate driver and ran to my office building. NEVER AGAIN. THEY CLEARLY DO NOT CARE ABOUT REPEAT BUSINESS. So, Metroline, you lose $360 a month and I will gladly give it to any other car service. read more

I called them up and they sent a car over a couple of minutes before the requested time. The car was a nice clean, slightly well used Lincoln Town Car. The driver got me to JFK in a decent manner, i.e., no weaving in and out of traffic -- no stopping on the brakes and accelerator. And the price was reasonable at $35 from Williamsburg. A human answers the phone and it's a polite human that does not leave you on hold to listen to advertisements for 20+ minutes. The human that picks up the phone has a clear, audible voice. 2. The drivers are the friendliest car service drivers. No cursing. No domestic disputes via Bluetooth with their girlfriends or kids or mothers on the phone. No flipping off other drivers. Just driving nicely. 3. The driver that picked us up today was a complete gentleman; helped my mom into the car, folded her wheel chair and put it into the car for me. 4. Overall I have been quite happy with my experience with them. The drivers have been polite, the cars prompt in their arrival and it cost me the same amount both ways. The first car had a funky odor which is why I'm only giving 4 stars. You do need to be ready and waiting at the time they call you and I can't fault them for that. That's what makes them a good car service instead of a crappy one. I pre-ordered a car for my folks' ride to the airport. They confirmed the day before, arrived on time, and charged the advertised price. ($30.00 from Ridgewood to JFK) Mom and Dad were both relieved to have such an easy time in getting to the terminal safely and on time. The driver was friendly and helpful. One word of advice. There is a 20% surcharge if you use a credit card, supposedly to include the tip. The driver said that it was a surcharge, not a tip, and that it could be avoided by paying cash, which my folks opted to do. So, I am not sure where the surcharge goes, but I would recommend paying in cash, just to be sure. read more

Then the guy somehow lost my credit card in the car. Did I mention he lost my credit card? In the car? Because he lost my credit card. IN THE CAR. How is that even possible? So he spent 15 minutes cursing and looking for it, getting out of the car and rustling through all kinds of pockets and envelopes, asking me to look through envelopes making my leisurely get to the airport time into crunch time. My frustration is fresh. I called about an hour ago looking to get a ride from East W'burg to Bed-Stuy. There's a blizzard outside. It's cold. And snowing sideways. I'm on hold for 10 minutes, which is understandable, taking into consideration the aforementioned blizzard. I finally hear a voice. "Success!" I think. The girl takes down my info, knows where I want to go. "Car #65. It'll be there in 3 minutes. Wait downstairs." Sweet. I zip downstairs after bundling myself up ("A Christmas Story" style) and getting together a shopping bag full of food (for a wintry dinner party) at superhuman speed. I'm downstairs in less than three minutes. I wait. And wait some more. 15 minutes go by. I wouldn't be irked if the girl hadn't told me that the car would be there so soon. So I call back. Busy signal. Another 10 minutes fly by, and the line finally rings. Then I'm put on hold for another 10. This was the ONLY service (out of 5 or 6) that had ever picked up, so I stay on the line. That same girl finally answers; I nicely ask her where my car is and give her my info again. I'm put on hold for another 10. Fuck, man. She gets back on and says she has no cars available. What? I remind her that she urged me to rush downstairs for a car that never showed up, and even reminded her of the car number and destination. She insists, like a jackass, that it never happened. Need I say more? I'd go on and on, but I've got a crapload of groceries that never made it to Bed-Stuy waiting for me. read more

I would give no stars if possible but it makes you give one to review. I did an online request for an economy van. I paid extra for that option. It was 7 people - 5 adults and 2 kids - along with a wheelchair. They email to confirm and then I called to make sure. I was told they were on their way. I call back after 20 minutes. Still no van. I am told they are 5 minutes away and that it is an SUV and it may not fit everyone. They are trying to tell me I said 5 people. I told them no way that it was 7. The man then admits it is marked over 5 people with handicap. Still 5 minutes. So after another 20 minutes of waiting with no car we gave up and started heading to the subway. Another 20 minutes after that (making it a full hour after they were originally supposed to be there) I received a call from the driver saying he was on his way and wanting to know where we were heading. I told him nope and we no longer needed the services. They still kept the reservation fee even though they never sent anyone until an hour later and it was not even the vehicle type I reserved!! read more

After months of using metroline, i will no longer use them as a service. They used to be a very fair priced company and today was the last time i will be taken advantage of. They charge me $70 to go from Williamsburg to west 26th street because i stop once and used an SUV. My company requires me to use a car service multiple times a week and I always used metro but that will no longer be the case. Not only do I feel taken advantage of in regards to price, they have been severely late costing me even more money. I hope they can make appropriate steps to get back to quality of service that I used to be able to rely on. read more

If you ever reserve a car online through Metroline, DO NOT select credit card as a form of payment for 2 reasons: 1) They will send you a confirmation email with your FULL credit card number, expiration date, and security code, which is a completely unsafe way to deal with a customer's supposedly SECURE payment information. 2) When you arrive at your destination, the driver will claim "he wasn't told" that you had paid for the ride with a credit card and will expect to be paid in cash. After calling his supervisor, he will then require you to swipe your credit card (with an additional $3 fee of course). It's a reliable service that's always on time, but the way they deal with payment is disconcerting. I'll have to reconsider my options next time I need to a ride to the airport. read more

TOTAL RIPOFF, take an Uber instead. I needed a ride from Manhattan to JFK airport at 4am. They told me $55 over the phone, then this asshole driver shows up and tells me it's $70. When I asked why he told me it's a $5 fee for using a card, and an extra $10 for some toll. I argued with him and he dropped the price to $65... so clearly he was just trying to scam me for more money. At that point it was too late to call another ride and he knew that, so I had to pay.
