The work was good and priced fairly but the tailor has an attitude I'm not a fan of. I haven't gone to many tailors at all and got barked at because I wasn't sure what to do next when I was being measured. I have to say that I am HUGELY disappointed in Bayside. My grandmother used to take things here…read morewhen I was younger so when I needed a quick alteration done on a dress for my best friend's wedding I went here. I have to say that I've waited almost 6 months to write this review because I was just too angry to write it before - it wouldn't have been fair and I wouldn't have given the good and the bad. But here it is now... I needed some quick-ish work done on my dress. It had to be taken in 2 sizes (woohoo, weight loss!!). I had 3 weeks until I needed it back. The woman there said no problem, and "not expensive to do!". In retrospect I should have asked for an estimate but when someone says "not expensive" I anticipate it won't be expensive. So I went in, tried it on for her and she proceeded to pin it for me. The whole time we were doing that we kept getting interrupted by other customers coming to get their orders. I know she's running a business but when I'm standing in the middle of a tiny store, where everyone can see me, with half my dress pinned and I'm holding the other half up, I don't want to wait 10 minutes for you to serve someone who came after me. Take the two minutes, pin my dress, and THEN serve them. After that she gave me a slip, said 2 weeks and I went off. Two weeks later I came back to try on my dress. Well, it was too tight. Not too tight that I couldn't fit but tighter than I wanted. No matter, it wasn't a huge deal. She then proceeded to tell me how it was "much more work" than she anticipated and she had to "take it all apart" to take it in. And it would be "a bit more". By this point I was just ready to be done so I told her that was fine and asked what I owed. Brace yourself... $140. That is neither "not expensive" or "a bit more" than not expensive. That's almost what I paid for the dress itself!! I couldn't do anything except tell her I was disappointed and pay. She had my dress, she had done the work and now I owed her the money. I took my dress and left. On the day of the wedding it did look beautiful but had I known what a headache it was going to be and how expensive she was going to be I would have taken it somewhere else. I will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone. Ever.

Sana is the lovely proprietress, and she greets everyone with a smile and can-do attitude. I have had multiple pairs of jeans hemmed here, and zippers replaced on items from skirts to my favourite wool winter jacket. Sana will put a rush on anything you need if necessary, though I have never needed anything quickly. She is capable and pleasant to deal with. Replacing a small zipper will run you around $8-10 and having some small alterations done will likely be around $10-$20. You can ask at the time if you're concerned about cost, though I have always found it to be very reasonable and much better than messing it up myself! You can also pay when you drop your items off or when you pick them up. There's a curtained off dressing room if you need to put on trousers before hemming or get advice on other alterations. I highly recommend this place as it's efficient and inexpensive!

Great little boutique store for Men's clothing. The Suitor carries premium brands for affordable…read moreprices. I don't like to buy suits from bulk-barn type stores like Tip Top or Moors because their stuff is geared towards older people and doesn't stand out. Yet, like most people in Halifax, I can't always afford the exuberant prices of exclusive brands carried by stores like Duggers. The Suitor was the best of both worlds. I was able to find the modern look and style I was looking for, and the pricing was perfect! The store is owned and operated by a Master Tailor who provides custom fittings for anything you buy. I bought a Calvin Klein suit with a french-cuffed Sean John shirt. I didn't like how the shirt looked on me and wanted a more 'slim fit' look. He took my measurements and custom-fitted the shirt within 24 hours. This little hidden gem of a store works mainly on word of mouth and has been for several years now. They can custom make a suit for you in any style you desire. Regardless of your body type, if you like the look of a particular luxury brand (like a Hugo, Canali, or Zegna suit), bring a picture and they'll make a suit for you just like it... but for a fraction of the price!
