I recently bought a Kroger brand ice cream (Churned Mint Chocolate Chip), and found a hair in it. The hair was blue, and my hair is black. Also, I haven't dyed my hair since 2019-ish, so it has been a while. The hair was really short, while mine is longer. I am no longer buying Kroger ice cream anymore. I got the ice cream from Metro Market Monona, WI.

Bakery is usually pretty good, great selection with reasonable prices. However my recent cookie cake experience was less than pleasant. I had asked for Happy Birthday to be written with a beach ball and beach umbrella... looks like a 5 year old did this.

I live nearby and do the bulk of my shopping there. Good store that could be better. Flow filters you through the fresh/prepared section and temptations are everywhere. Prices are not always readily apparent so you can be surprised when a couple small pieces of fried chicken and a scoop of Mac n Cheese runs you nearly $9. Layout is confusing. Why have canned tomatoes in the Italian section and not with other canned vegetables? As another reviewer stated, they're going after a Whole Foods vibe. Finally, check your receipt for price discrepancies. Especially sale items. Overcharges have happened several times. In contrast, one of the managers has (on two occasions) waived me through checkout and comped me a couple items for having to wait too long in the express lane. Its impeccably clean and the staff is super pleasant. A good experience overall.

Mimosa's and Bloody Marys from 10-2 on Sundays, for sitting or shopping! Best Bloody i ever had in a grocery store!!??.

Nice place for a medium sized shopping run. They always seem to be in control of things, have a wide variety of options for your meal's and most of the time have tasty cheese samples! The meat counter has excellent choice's for your grilling needs to get in and out in a hurry! Fire up the grill carnivores!!!

Great grocery store with excellent deli and bakery. Some produce looks iffy, I don't know if it's entirely their fault.

Products can be opened when you buy them. Trying to get a refund is a waste if time. Personally I will shop elsewhere.

There are no chips in the deli so if you want to grab a sandwich, there are no. What's the point of even having sandwiches?

Ask the Community - Metro Market

They are scaling back this store: no more bins of fresh mushrooms, no more "spice shop", no more grocery cocktails.... what gives?

Kroger bought out the Pick N Save/Copps/Metro chain and they seem to all be moving to a discount focus.

I first visited in May for produce but found the quality and selection underwhelming. Later, I heard they stocked some unique ice cream brands, so I went back to check them out. While I appreciate the unique selection, the prices were pretty steep--likely due to tariffs, logistics, and convenience. There was only a couple of customers on a weekday lunchtime, so it was quiet. Since I make monthly grocery runs to Chicago suburbs, I ended up getting my specialty ice creams there instead. I also browsed their hot food bar but didn't find anything that appealed to me. There's also a small cafe attached where they sell baklava and other sweets. On the plus side, the location is very central with plenty of parking.

I took a picture of the label just in case I forgot all off the goodness in it - perfectly cooked pasta, shreds of good cheese, celery, green pepper, scallions, and apparently some cream along with the mayo. I think I will give it a shot this weekend - hopefully it will be just as yummy.

Surprisingly, they carry a wide selection of international products. I was delighted to find these viral ice creams at the West Side location (there's also one on the East Side of Madison). These ice creams became popular about 1.5-2 years ago. I first tried lemon in LA late 2024 and then mango in Houston earlier this year, but this is the first time I've seen them in an American grocery store. While they're also available at Global Market (an Asian grocery store on the East Side), Woodman's price is unbeatable--just $9 for a box of three, compared to around $12 plus tax in LA. The outer shell is a crunchy white chocolate coating, while the inside is fruity ice cream flavors like mango, peach, lemon, and apricot (no actual fruits). They also offer unique flavors such as durian, grape, and tangerine. It's great to see Woodman's carrying these, hopefully more people will get to try them!

The local cheese selection did not disappoint. We also learned you must pay for your groceries to go into the liquor store and vice versa. If we had more time we works have walked around more but we got what we needed.

I had the prosciutto sandwich and my SO had the pastrami and both had nothing but good things to say as we ate. The prosciutto sandwich had balsamic that had just started to soak into the otherwise crunchy bread, with these big chunks of mozzarella and the freshest tomatoes and greens. Alimentari itself is this awesome little deli/grocer with both bagged pastas AND FRESH PASTA/antipasti available to buy, as well as all sorts of goods, breads, coffees, chocolates, beverages and a whole wine selection. Beware that there is no seating inside but definitely do not let this dissuade you from visiting.

I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich, and the gentleman taking my order pointed to a random piece of focaccia on display on the counter and asked if I'd like my sandwich on that. I don't know what kind of bread if normally comes on, but I have since read about the thicker/crustier bread on some reviews. Gosh am I glad he offered the focaccia. The bread made this sandwich, it was sooo good. It was light and fluffy despite being substantial in size, and had this delightful little crunch from the sea salt on it (not in a salty sense, just in a wonderful texture sense). There was a ton of turkey on it and it was a yummy smoked flavor. The other fixings were standard but complimented the sandwich very well. The sandwich was tasty and filling. All this said, because I paid $16 for my sandwich, I wouldn't make it a regular occurrence, maybe a special treat. But if it's on regular bread, particularly a harder crust bread, I think I'd skip it entirely. You do get a lot of sandwich for your money, but I just can't justify it. So, overall, this is definitely worth trying and deciding for yourself - I don't think you'll be disappointed.

But the items they do have are usually much cheaper and of the same or better quality. I began going to Aldi just for their wine selection (which is also really good!) and then began grocery shopping there on a regular basis. It's my go-to store now. I've tried some of their beers and they've been OK. Like other Aldi stores, this one has been recently renovated so it's much nicer and better organized. For newcomers, it's important to remember to bring a quarter for the shopping cart and tote bags since they don't bag for you at checkout (you can also buy recycled or plastic bags there). The selections there isn't impressive but after a while, you will get used to going there and you won't need other big grocery stores anymore. We go to Aldi three out of four times. I love the fact that every week is different in aldi. They have special sales run each week and you will never know what you find there. If you still aren't an Aldi fan, give it a few weeks, after seeing the difference in your receipt, you will start to like it just like I did. :-) Happy saving!
