Would have liked for her to have asked if I needed more drink when it was obvious I was about out. Other than that she was very attentive. The Steak and Scramble Bowl was really good. The hollandaise sauce was really good. The Bissell breakfast had all the favorites. We ordered biscuits but they came back and said they were out so, we switched to wheat toast also never offered syrup for the pancake's. Love the option to get turkey sausage. The atmosphere and layout is really nice. They do have some patio seating. Also bathrooms were super clean. Again food came out hot and had a great taste. Definitely will be back. read more

I went here last night, as we were stopping in town from our road trip to Tennessee. Our server was very nice and checked in on us multiple times. The restaurant was nice and cozy with great decor for Easter. They also had a sign out for Good Friday with options for Catholics which is great! I had a fruity waffle and let me tell you I ate that whole thing right up. My grandma got fish and chips and she loved it, there French are amazingly seasoned. Ordered meat lovers omelette, was brought western omelette. Sent it back and that's where the fun began. The managing partner then sends the western omelette with hasbrowns and toast back to my table. Waitress says it's free to eat and they will get the order right. Later the waitress brings the meat lovers omelette on a smaller plate by itself. Thinking I was being brought a new plate of food I left the food alone they sent back out to me with the western omelette. So the managing partner puts me in a dilemma. Eat cold food or send my food back a second time, which no one ever wants to do or just send everything back and tell them to forget it. Paid full price. I want to make clear this is not on the waitress. She did what she was told to do. The food is good when prepared correctly, the service was fine, beware of the managing partner trying to nickel and dime you over a side order of hashbrowns and toast when things go sideways. The food was good very over generous portions. The service was just ok because it was not crowded but wait staff seemed distracted . The bathrooms were dirty with paper towels littered and overall the ambiance was dingy. The price of a diet coke $3.70 same as black coffee. Metro diner is a favorite for many, and with the original being featured on Diners , Drive-ins, and Dives, it makes many stop by to check it out. The food is decent, but not good enough to bring people to because of being featured on the show. The fish was a little oily and over cooked, and the fries were soggy. The southwestern scramble bowl my daughter devoured in minutes, she liked it so much. The meatloaf was good too. They have a limited menu, and so my favorites weren't available, which makes me sad. From its humble start in a single location in Jacksonville, Florida, Metro Diner has grown into a significant culinary empire in a few short years. I have been a fan of Metro Diner for years. In fact, my first experience at Metro Diner was at the original location in Jacksonville when my daughter and I stumbled upon that location when heading back to Orlando, Florida from a trip up to my home state of New Jersey. We were both instant fans of the establishment. The Metro Diner can claim its history back to 1938, though that was when the building was built and opened as a diner. In the early 1990's, 1992 to be exact, the Metro Diner was rebranded as the Metro Diner and in 2000, the Davoli Brothers (Mark and John) purchased the Diner and their father came on board a few years later and Metro Diner began expanding throughout Jacksonville, Florida. In 2010, the Metro Diner was featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" and the popularity of that particular Food Network television show brought this diner its own level of popularity and with that popularity brought even more expansion. With that expansion came change. Unfortunately, one if those changes was a more streamlined menu and one of the items dropped from the menu was my favorite item at the Metro Diner. This was a pork tenderloin sandwich with bacon and lettuce. Truly a fantastic sandwich, but unfortunately, it fell to the wayside. The Metro Diner still has some fantastic options. Their burgers are pretty stellar. My daughter originally had the chicken and waffles, which is still her favorite item on the Metro Diner's menu and is still on the Metro Diner menu today. Overall, I had a great experience at this particular Metro Diner, even if I could not have that fantastic pork tenderloin sandwich. I would definitely recommend this particular Metro Diner and I give it five stars. read more

We tried Metro Diner on a recent visit to see our son in T Town. We were seated pretty quickly for a Saturday morning (no home game that weekend). Metro offers typical diner fare and good breakfast options. Both the food and service were "ok". The omelet I ordered had decent flavor, but was pretty greasy. Our server forgot part of our daughter's order and had to be reminded twice. Menu prices were pretty standard and portion sizes were on the larger size. read more

Wow. I hate to have to write this but here goes. I recently (as in a couple of days ago) had a very unfortunate experience at this establishment. My family had an early dinner here and I decided to get a scramble bowl from the breakfast dinner menu. In fact we had two. The stark bow l was not even close to what was depicted in the menu photo. It was as if the cook didn't even try. The hash browns were greasy the eggs were blah and I only got half of one cherry tomato. On the other bowl, a bacon avocado scramble bowl, we were not so lucky. I can express just how bad the prep and quality of the food was. The bacon was burnt and old. The avocado was possibly guacamole, if I had to guess. No tomatoes on this one even though they were in the pic. Really? We ordered two waters with lemon. When they arrived 1 had two lemons and one had none. There were maybe three tables seated in the entire place and it still took nearly 15 minutes to place our order. On a positive note, our server was very a nice older lady. But guess what, she never came back to check on us. Clearly every person in the place must have been ready to go home. But take a little pride. Perhaps if Metro Diners goal is to rush to close - we should avoid the place all together and let them. Now for the worst part. 30 minutes after I left, I actually threw up. Couldn't help myself- the food from the Diner absolutely disagreed with me. It had to be those horrible greasy hash browns. Do yourself, your stomach and your wallet a favor. Was visiting tuscaloosa and was looking for a good place for breakfast. We do have a location here in Birmingham yet had never been. It was sunday so there was about a 25 minute wait. You give the hostess your cell phone number and they alert you when your table is ready. I had the crab cake eggs Benedict which was quite delicious. It came with hashbrowns and I added a cheese topping. My husband got the Oscars omelette and it was delicious. It was a nod to the Oscars as they were on last night. First time and unfortunately our last. Upon going to pick up our takeout order (supposed to be ready at 11:27am) at 11:38am I was told the food wasn't ready. Another individual asked for my name and handed me the bag at 11:52am that I had been staring at since I entered the restaurant. For our party of 8 today, the wait staff was all super patient and Kind, our food came out timely and hot, and all of our orders were correct (which is impressive by my standards). I personally got the spicy chicken biscuit with seasoned fires, and greatly enjoyed the meal. The chicken was crunchy; the biscuit melted in your mouth with each bite; and the spicy honey sauce was more sweet than spicy (which was not a problem for me). This place is great. I don't think that that picture is loaded make it justice. It is very popular as this area gets very crowded with the University. It's located in a strip mall that gives them free walking off your meal access once you are done. A good tip is to place yourself on the waiting list go to their website and add your name to the list. Be sure to check in once you are here and they will text you when your table is ready which is super convenient. The food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable. We got sick. We drove 569 miles for my daughter to play in the 108th Women's Southern Amateur Golf Tournament this week at Ol Colony Country Club. She played 36 holes of qualifying and made the cut, moving forward to match-play. Her first match was this morning - except she had to withdraw. She was in tears. A day getting here. Practice round on Sunday. Then fighting to make the cut and having to quit because she's glued to the toilet. Now a day to get back - tomorrow - because we paid for the hotel expecting to play today. Went in with a brunch date and Metro Diner came through for the win. Typical diner ambiance which was very enjoyable. Autumn was our server and she was extremely friendly, profesional and had a great smile. The restaurant was clean and the food was deeeee-licious! I ordered off of the light fair menu section and had the avocado toast with added chopped bacon. The toast reminded me of "everything bagel" and it was seasoned just right. If you like garlic, which I do, it's perfect. Garlic and onion make everything great. If you're on a first date, try a different item so your breath won't be foul. My date had the Bacon Avocado Scramble Bowl. She let me try it after I saw how good it looked and it too was really yummy. It's a good bit of food so bring a big appetite or get a to-go box. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Tuscaloosa and today's visit was great. We were greeted upon entering and seated immediately. It was breakfast time about 10am so not really crowded. Our waitress was Alyssa and she was great from beginning to end no complaints! Whoever was cooking the chicken today May 29, 2024 did an exceptional job, that chicken was seasoned really good and cooked perfectly! The vibe was peaceful, it was cool inside so bring a jacket or order coffee lol. Thank you all for a great visit today we really enjoyed the customer service and food today!
