While we were making the move from Texas to North Carolina we stopped in Tuscaloosa for the night. I wanted to try a restaurant downtown since it was our first time in this town and the Avenue pub came highly rated. Parking is manageable, but you'll need to find parking either in front or to the side of the restaurant. When you walk in it has the feel of a polished, upscale pub. We were seated and immediately ordered the bacon burger (which comes with a 1/2 a pound of ground beef with provolone and bacon). I also would recommend adding grilled onions to the burger and upgrading the fries to pub fries (seasoned fries topped with shaven Parmesan, mozzarella, and chopped bacon). The peppercorn ranch that is especially good and tied everything together. If you are looking for a craft burger spot in the heart of Tuscaloosa, I can't say enough good things about this place and it's absolutely worth checking out.

Me and wife came here for lunch after seeing reviews. I'll start with staff. They were very friendly and we were seated right away. For food I ordered the chicken club and wife got the fish and chips. The club was good not amazing. Both the sandwich and fries were a little too salt heavy. The fish and chips were ok. Not the best but not bad. Again fries little to salt heavy. I'd go back if someone really wanted to eat there but wouldn't choose this place.

Chicken Bites. Said beer battered. It tasted like old funnel cake batter. The meat was tough. I don't get it, and you should not either.

I've been here enough now to know I do not want to come back to eat unless some changes happen. The beers and drinks are fine, so if that is what you are here for, great. You should be just groovy! Drink up!! I will come back to drink and eat Pub Fries. These are solid. The other food situation however is way off in my opinion. My last visit had a direct view of the expo station. The sauce bottles are stored on the counter with no refrigeration whatsoever. No hair restraints on anyone. It's also really gross back there. Ewww. This place needs better management to be any good! We didn't get silverware, plates, or napkins before the food arrived. Bar drinks took 10-12 minutes. Place is just poorly run. It was not even half full yet tables remained unbussed, and dirty floors remained. This is in spite of me being able to see 8-10 employees screwing around in the kitchen. The staff looks like a bunch of bum kids with clothes they have been wearing for the last four days. Greasy hair, dirty fingernails, and other unkept hygienic practice are abound. Most of the staff just looks nasty, for lack of a better word. Food we had is also a miss for me. I didn't care for any of it really. Maybe we got the wrong things. I thought I would be safe with beer battered fried chicken, but boy was I wrong! It tasted like old funnel cake batter. Very sweet, and the chicken inside was dry as a bone. Bottled sauces that come with everything sucked too. In some cases it's actually in the retail bottles still. The Conecuh sausage on the fried green tomatoes should in now way be in bold and lead the name of the menu item. John Currance has an item on his menu that has "ham dust" on it, the sausage was slightly larger than his "dust". This should be described as "sprinkled with sausage bits", not as it reads as the lead ingredient. Totally deceptive. I would have never ordered it had I known. Charge more and give more sausage or cut it to three tomatoes, idk, something. Kiddos boyfriend ordered a "meat and cheese only" burger and Flash Gordon brought out a burger with nothing at all in it, then said, "I thought you said only meat and cheese". It had neither. I did enjoy a nice meal at Waffle House later... Two stars for beers and fries! '25 - 90/111

This restaurant has a relaxed pub-style atmosphere that's easy to settle into, whether you're stopping by for a casual meal or drinks with friends. The menu offers classic pub-style options, and the portions are satisfying. I got the bacon burger and my husband got the chicken sandwich fried. Service is friendly helping create an overall welcoming experience. It's a good choice if you're looking for good food, a laid-back vibe, and social atmosphere.

Great experience here! We ordered the chicken club sandwhich and boy was it huge!!! Had to take a lot home! Enjoyed live music while eating our pub fries and enjoying an old fashioned! Great atmosphere and the service was also super friendly and accommodating!

Fun atmosphere. Enjoyed lunch with my daughter. Food was excellent, so glad we made the stop. It's now on our map for future visits. Service was friendly and recommendations were spot on. Roll tide!

Sat outside for a nice evening. Food was excellent. The fried green tomatoes were the best I had in town. The pimento cheese gave it a nice little kick. The blt was great as well. The brussels as a side were good but there were a lot of them.

Now, I walked in at 3:30pm on a Monday, so it wasn't too busy, but it looked like it was setup to handle quite a crowd. Big beautiful deep bar both downstairs and upstairs. I sat down and was immediately greeted by a friendly bartender named Rachel. She gave me 3 recommendations and I chose the American double. It came out in under 10 minutes. Two good sized patties that were well seasoned with fresh spring lettuce and what looked like homemade pickles and a good portion of American cheese. The burger had a good char on it and the cheese flavor came through on the perfectly toasted buttered bun. Absolutely, no complaints and all on all a great experience. One of the better burgers I've had in a while.

Good Times at the Avenue Pub!! I was in the Tuscaloosa area for business and wanted to try The Avenue Pub after hearing so many great things about it. I wasn't in the mood for a massive meal after travelling all day, so I decided to skip the app and head straight to the main course. Once my bartender/server, Maggie walked me through the menu and the drink list I decided on the Pork Rib Eye, marinated and seared with a Conecuh cream sauce. If you don't know, Conecah sausage is an Alabama staple, and the cream sauce has chopped Concah sausage. The Ribeye was soft tender, and very flavourful, the portion size as with most pork Ribeyes was about 7 ounces. Combined with the vegetables and rice, it made a good-sized meal. I washed it down with a Black Warrior Broad Street Brown Ale, a good match for this dish. The service was great, and the vibe and the place made it a great spot for drinks and food.

Together, with nice glasses of wine, this was an excellent dinner! The restaurant is off the beaten path from downtown and parking on the street is easy. I was not particularly impressed with this place when a friend and I visited on a Friday night…read more The atmosphere is very relaxed and cool, which I did really like. Their decorations give off high-end vibes and make the place feel more up-scale and sophisticated. Because of this, I found the music playing not fitting for the evening. When we walked in, it was club style music that I would rather dance to, not sit, chat, and have a few drinks to. It did not match the vibe and took away from the atmosphere. We ordered a mexican pharmacy at the bar, which my friend had recommended to me. I was not impressed, but that is on me, as I should have paid more attention to the menu. I did appreciate watching the bartender make the drink, as they obviously had great expertise behind the bar. My biggest complaint was that the drink was about 6 oz and cost me $15. My overall impression of this speakeasy was just a feeling of being underwhelmed. It is obviously popular, and I would love to try more from the expert bartenders, but I struggle paying their prices and find the atmosphere in contrast to the point of the bar.

A couple of friends and i walked in around 11pm, and i don't know if i was a worker off the clock or something but there was this woman sitting at the bar with her feet on another barstool, on her laptop, halfway through a cocktail and clearly drunk. As soon as we came up the steps, she yells, "How the f*ck do people keep getting in this is the third group!" Mind you, the door was unlocked and wide open. Then, she finally acknowledges us and says "sorry we're closed." I work at a very busy bar here in Tuscaloosa, and I can understand being annoyed, but saying something like that in front of customers coming into your establishment is so incredibly gross. I had an offer to work here and this completely turned me off I will not be coming back.
