I made an order on Uber eats. The order said "ready" before I even left my house. I get there 10 minutes later & my order is Not ready! Cashier said order was never sent to the kitchen & it will be ready in a few minutes.. 25 minutes passed by & I had to ask Again was my 2 potatoes were ready.. That's all I had smh. At 1st one girl said no but another asked my name and they were sitting there, bagged up. I was not a happy camper because I was standing there behind the rails for the line, 20 minutes & no one, not even the manager checked to see what I was waiting for or gave any kind of assurance that my food was almost ready! I don't live but a few miles away so our taters should have been good & hot but they were not.

Come hungry!! Check out the massive pulled pork baked potato I got!! I was only able to take down half but it was good. I prefer the potato to be cooked a bit longer but with all those toppings, it was hard to notice. I also was tempted to get the deviled eggs because I love deviled eggs and they used a particular brand of pickles I love. They were delicious but a bit skimpy on the filling- I like it more like a mound overflowing. Still delicious though. Service was good. I enjoyed the casual but clean environment.

Another yummy meal. This is my favorite of the AL BBQ places I've tried. I got the chopped plate and the sweet sauce was a nice addition. My husband had the Greek salad and said it was actually the best salad he had ever had.

This is my second visit to this location. I was not a fan the first time but my sister loves this place and wanted to go while we were visiting the area. Staff is great here. Despite everything going on due to the pandemic, the staff was helpful while I was trying to deal with a cranky four year old. I ordered the bbq chicken (dark meat) with fried green tomatoes and Mac and cheese as my sides. I remembered getting the baked beans and coleslaw last time and not liking either option. Food don't take long to come out and the tomatoes are fried when ordered so they were fresh out the grease hot. I realized during this visit that the sides can make or break your meal because this time I enjoyed everything. With a pinch of salt, the Mac and cheese would have been hall of fame good. The tomatoes were excellent. Not too thickly sliced and seasoned well. The chicken was good too. I love the dollop of chow chow that comes with every meal. So glad I went back.

Our first time there was on Sunday- today- when they first opened. Immediately when we entered they were all really friendly! The cashier was very helpful with us ordering for our fist Time here. Sometimes it can be a bit intimidating for older folks , to order somewhere we've never been. She made us feel comfortable and made some great suggestions. The food came out hot and quick. It was really good. I got the brisket bake potato and he got the brisket plate. Only downside was that it was super expensive for us. I mean $45 for two. That's all. Maybe we'll order something on the dollar menu next time nah. They don't have one. But it was good. By the time I was getting close to finishing the potato, I was extremely full and getting tired of it. It's big y'all. It's actually two baked potatoes! The restaurant was nice and clean and the workers there were all very nice!!

Key lime pie , OMG. The key lime pie was one of the surprising highlights of the meal. It was creamy and delicious, definitely save room for the pie. The nachos were also fantastic, the white sauce made them even better! I loved the white sauce on the onion rings too. The onion rings were also fabulous, thick corn meal coated hearty onions, very filling.I had the spare ribs and they were very good , nice white meat with delicious sweet barbecue sauce. I have definitely had way better ribs but I would get these again and again! The sides I had were also top notch , the baked beans were delicious. The cole slaw was very different then I am accustomed too , from Philadelphia, but I loved the vinegar based slaw! The menu is huge and I can't wait to try the baked potatoes , wings and deviled eggs! I wish I ordered the deviled eggs!

    One happy fellow.

My husband said it is the best BBQ he has had in a long time. If we weren't traveling we would have got some to go. The brisket was moist and the ribs were so tasty. We did get a couple of slices of pie to eat on the road. The service as fast and friendly. If you are looking for some Alabama Football history and highlights check this place out!!

AMAZING BBQ!!! We ended up there 3 times while we stayed in Tuscaloosa! The staff and food were that good. We had 9 people in our party and the food came out in record time. Also, the manager brought us a dozen wings on the house because he appreciated our business. Unbelievable!!!

If you've never had meat (or VEGGIES!) cooked on a BGE, it will change your life. This fact alone will bring me back to try other things. Before I get into the meal, my only real complaint was that they only had a soda machine and tea. I had brought my mother along, and she already had lunch and wanted just to sit and chat. As it was a very cold day she was gonna order a coffee and they don't offer anything hot! It's definitely an opportunity to expand here even if it was just so simple as putting a Keurig machine in the back. I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. It is served with grilled chicken in a grilled wrap and cheddar cheese. If there was a buffalo sauce, I didn't taste any. I was a little disappointed in the wrap. The flavor didn't really stand out as being cooked on the Big Green Egg. The cheese wasn't really melted, which can be a common problem with shredded cheddar cheese, but it also didn't really have the buffalo flavor that I was looking for in a buffalo chicken wrap (maybe it was a Toledo Ohio wrap I don't know just not spicy. ) It served with a side of ranch which I juiced up with some Cholula and that helped. I i'm not knocking the quality of the food because it was good. It just didn't live up to the expectations I had in my head based on the menu description. It also came with a side, which I chose the broccoli salad. This was nicely done with bacon, I believe some quinoa and the broccoli was chopped up nicely so you didn't have huge chunks. Also, it wasn't overly sauced so that would make it runny. Overall I give the property four out five stars. Also, the flavor of the whole meal was fine. Good size portion and good value for your money.

Still, we were told there would be a 15-20 minute wait. We waited about 35 minutes before seating. Make it make sense. That said, the restaurant sits right along the Black Warrior River, which offers a really pleasant view, especially from the patio. On a cool spring day like today, it's hard to beat outdoor seating here. Tuscaloosa is buzzing with football fans for the annual A-Day spring game, which adds to the energy around town. My better half ordered the shrimp and grits, and I went with the steak fajita bowl, minus the sunny-side-up egg. Even at my age, I can't do the runny yolk situation, I always ask for my eggs over hard. With that change, I'll say the fajita bowl jumped up to one of my top breakfast/brunch go-to dishes in town. Yes, I know it's technically brunch, but it was before 11 a.m., so I'm calling it breakfast. The shrimp and grits were solid, though the tails were still on the shrimp, which meant a bit of extra peeling at the table, my wife wasn't a fan of that part, but she still finished the dish and enjoyed it overall. Only minor gripe on the food side: ice seems to be a rare commodity here, I'd love a few more cubes in the water. But overall, the food was very good, the patio seating is absolutely the way to go, and the river view is fantastic.

All in all edible but not enjoyable. I went with the bacon wrapped meatloaf with mashed potatoes with gravy and a side of Mac and cheese. I'll start with the Mac. It was horrible. Sorry don't mean to be a downer but wasn't good at all. The mashed and gravy a big nope. The potatoes weren't all that good. It was like eating a plat of spackle. And the gravy was horrendous. Made bad potato's worse. The meatloaf was ok. Kind of like cafeteria meatloaf. I did eat it but wasn't thrilled. Again not a fan of that bacon so ditched that after one bite. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome from the lady behind the counter. She walked me through the menu, answered my questions, and before long my order was in. I went with the chicken and dressing, green beans, and fried okra. Now let me warn you... this place isn't fancy. If you're expecting white tablecloths and fine china, you're in the wrong place. After a short wait, they called my name and brought my meal to the table nestled inside a good ol' Styrofoam container. I popped the lid, and a cloud of steam rolled out that let me know this food hadn't been sitting around. The fried okra was good. Personally, I like mine just a little crispier, but it still hit the spot. The green beans and that chicken and dressing? Whew... they were absolutely fire. That's the kind of comfort food that makes you slow down and enjoy every bite. Now I understand why people keep talking about King's Kitchen. Great home-style cooking, friendly folks, and a relaxed atmosphere are hard to beat. If you're looking for a solid meat-and-three in Tuscaloosa, this one deserves a visit. I'll definitely be back to work my way through the rest of the menu.

I can't tell you how many times people have recommended it for lunch, yet I never managed to stop in and experience it for myself until today. My work schedule and the Bag's hours always seemed to clash, and since it's a bit off the beaten path, it stayed in the "out of sight, out of mind" category. Now, as I'm approaching full retirement, I finally had the time to swing by and see what all the fuss was about. Upon arrival, the first sign you're in the right place is the parking lot. It's packed, about like a blue tick on a hound dog. Stepping inside, don't expect anything fancy. The interior is old school with faded paint and a no frills setup. Your food is served in Styrofoam containers with plastic utensils. But that's part of the charm. Who needs fine china when you're filling your gizzard with good soul food? The place was full and I managed to grab one of the last open tables under the roof. I then waited for the waitress who was running laps across the dining area, taking orders, refilling drinks, checking out customers, and handling everything in between. If you come anywhere near lunch hour, don't expect Jimmy John's Freaky Fast service. You're here to slow down and enjoy the experience. When I ordered, I went with a catfish fillet, turnip greens, field peas, fried green tomatoes, a side of cornbread, and tartar sauce for the fish. The fried green tomatoes did not make it out with the order, but the waitress was very apologetic and adjusted my bill to a meat and two instead of a meat and three, which I appreciated. Now to the important part, the food. The catfish was hot, crispy, and perfectly cooked, not greasy at all, just honest, well done Southern cooking. The turnip greens and field peas were flavorful and comforting, exactly what you hope for in a place like this. The tartar sauce had a slightly sweet twist that I was not expecting, different from the traditional version, but surprisingly excellent. I will need a few more visits before I can fully put that into words, but it worked. Overall, now I understand the buzz. The Brown Bag delivers exactly what it promises, simple, hearty, well prepared soul food served without pretense. I will definitely be back, and now that retirement is on the horizon, I have got all the time in the world to wait on a good meal, unlike you working folks still rushing through lunch.
