I've passed by this stop many times, either going to K-Town or WeHo, but never had the need to get off until now. It has paddle style toll gates now active. One needs to tap to be able to enter, and it now accepts any tap enabled credit cards for payment ($1.75 fee, free transfers, with $5 daily maximum). The station has one island platform, with one side handling both B and D line trains going west (K-Town and We-Ho) and east (Union Station). This means one can take either line if going east, but must choose the appropriate line if going west. The station does not require a tap to exit, though there has been talk to implement tap-to-exit sometime in the future. Escalators were working this day (the station is about 80 feet deep), with the exit being right across the street from MacArthur Park. Westlake/MacArthur Park Station is one of the five original stations in LA, opening in 1993. It was the original terminus of west bound trains (with Union Station being the eastern end point), serving segment1 (4.4 mile underground rapid transit route) of the Metro Red Line (since renamed the B line). One interesting tidbit is that the lake at MacArthur needed to be drained, to allow construction of a storage area underneath it, as part of the initial implementation of the subway system in 1993.

Instead, she forced me to stretch my legs and strain myself to get on the bus. Then she said see I knew you could do it. I have severe mobility issues, a history of falling, and an access disable bus card. It doesn't matter to them. On several occasions this driver has watched me get up, once I do, the driver hits the brakes and I get slammed into the pole/handhold. Finally, 99% of the time this driver pulls up too far from the curb, loading & unloading. All drivers cater to the people taking the train in to Burbank then bussing it to their job. The drivers wait for said working class until 5 minutes passed takeoff time. But they won't wait for me. On several occasions they have left me even though I wave my hand for them to wait. Additionally, all but 1 driver pretend not to see me then at the last minute pull over, same for dropping me off, going past my stop. All of them ask me where I'm going but no one else. They also don't wait for me to sit down. And when I board the working class or non-disabled sit in the priority handicap seats; not offering me a seat & the driver says nothing either. Also, I've been asked to get off the back which is street level not curb level so their working class can load in the front. There are 2 passengers that continually harass me once I load by rubbing & touching themselves. Driver L told me last week that their passengers can do whatever they want to me as long as they say nothing; but one passenger did called me a terrorist. Driver J: has yelled at me, passed me by, stop 2 feet from the curb loading & unloading but not to anyone else. He refuses to let me sit after I tap my card. Driver C & L stop the bus at my stop then as soon as I stand, grab my bags, & start to walk up the aisle they put the bus in motion almost causing me to fall. I have called & called the switchboard but nothing happens but fallout. Why am I treated this way? I don't work, I'm retired I am homeless I am a senior All of the above is discrimation [reported] as they choose who they're nice, too!!

Very wheelchair accessible via elevator and they do have about 250 plus parking spots (paid) if you wish to drive over and take the E line. Have taken the Expo back to Union Station and all the way down to the beach and had a day of fun in Santa Monica. Great for commuting as a few people have mentioned. A ride one way is less than two dollars with up to 2 hrs of unlimited transfers in one direction... With gas being as much as $6 and up in some parts in LA it's definitely a nice alternative for work and/or play. If traveling with a friend, sig other, the fam or a group factor in gas and parking for you final destination and you're absolutely saving plus you get more of a scenic route for all. A very direct and convenient stop if you're looking to come to campus, or if you're looking to visit the California Science Center on the other side. On weekends, or for major event days, there are ambassadors and sometimes officers that will be standing by the TAP entry gates. Just be sure to tap your fare and you're good to go. Platforms are in the middle of the roadways. You come through by walking over the tracks. There are no safety entry gates like other major stations, so watch the road before you cross over. Safety is always first!

I was prepared to watch three or four trains arrive and leave before we boarded, but thankfully, I was wrong. I should also mention that while I was crestfallen at the sight of so many people waiting just for the eastbound train, I was also pleasantly surprised that so many L.A. locals would even deign to ride a Metro train, let alone to a USC game. So I was hopeful for the future long-term, but annoyed at what my next hour would be like. Well, all those people lined up in the (still closed-off) street waiting to board the train? They were well behaved, and the "line"--more of a loose clump--moved smoothly as the Metro workers allowed people onto the platform. My worst fears weren't realized, for we boarded the second train that arrived. We happened to end up right in front of a car's rear doors, so my dad and I got seats while everyone else sardine-canned it. Thankfully, most people got off within a few stops, and I wondered at the fact that it seemed like all but two game attendees (USC fans) made it all the way to Atlantic Station, where we also disembarked and saw other USC and Irish fans from other cars on the same train. Now that I've taken Metro's 480 bus from Norwalk Station, Metro's J Line bus from Harbor Freeway Station and Metro's E Line train from Atlantic Station to USC games, I can accurately compare them. I prefer the train just because you're guaranteed a seat at least on the way to the game (and for most of the way back), but the bus stop for both the 480 and the J Line is closer to the L.A. Memorial Coliseum than either of the E Line USC-specific stations, including this one, and most people who use the bus use the J Line rather than the 480. As a station, it's fine. They've made it about as long as possible, and the platform is very roomy so that you don't feel like you'll fall onto the tracks if more people crowd on behind you. They could use more fare machines. About those fares: It's too confusing to add specific amounts to your TAP card. Be aware that if you're adding a special fare, you'll have to go through two transactions rather than being able to add a round-trip fare easily, or maybe it's just too confusing to do a round-trip fare. If you did only buy a one-way fare on the way to this station, I suggest purchasing your return fare right before you leave the station rather than waiting for when you return. You already know what I think of slashes (/'s) in public-transit-station names.

The Long Beach Airport / Lot A bus stop has one shelter and services two bus lines: Bus 111 (connects Lakewood and DTLB) and Bus 104 (connects the western part of Long Beach near Santa Fe street AND Hawaiian Gardens, going through Eastern part of Long Beach). This means that both directions of each line goes to this bus stop: making it critically important to not only check the bus number but also the direction of the bus. I used this bus stop on two different days, both times for Bus 104. On weekdays, it runs every 30 minutes. Coming to the airport, I took 104 - Hawaiian Gardens. Going back after picking up my brother, we took 104 - Willow to connect to the Metro A line at Willow Street, letting us get to downtown LA. On Sunday, it runs every 60 minutes. After dropping my brother off, I intended to take 104 - Willow much further west across the LA river, to Santa Fe (where I could connect with the 192, taking me back home). Unfortunately, this meant waiting about 50 minutes for the next bus. Unfortunately, while heading back, the bus had a mechanical problem. So ended up walking the rest of the way back to the Willow St Metro station, and taking the train back to DTLB. It made me appreciate the ability to take a train to the airport when traveling, which isn't possible to LGB. The other bus stop at the airport is Long Beach Airport & Donald Douglas DR NB, which services Bus 405 (connects the airport to UCLA) and the eastbound portion of Bus 111 (going to Lakewood from DTLB). It's only a 0.2 mile walk between the two, but would make a big difference if one has a lot of luggage.

The bus drivers are friendly. Most bus routes ends at the Green Line Station on Aviation where there are multiple transit lines for transfer. If you work in the El Segundo/Redondo Beach area and commute from the south bay. This is a good alternative to driving down busy 405, Aviation, Hawthorne, etc.

And I can drink if I want to because I don't have to drive. Can't beat that in a car! No way, no how! The Del Amo station is sort of my half way point. It's a clean and relatively safe de-boarding spot when I don't feel like rushing or even going all the way into downtown. The swap meet is just across the street and filled with random cheap items that I probably don't need but like to buy anyway. Where else can you get your eyebrows threaded ($8 bucks), grab some yummy elote to eat AND get acupuncture and ayurvedic teas for what ails you? Grab a shake and fries across the street at Del Amo burger and your set for the afternoon.

Sorry but there are little to no inter transit bus connections to other agencies. This is a very fast bus because the frequency is very good. This bus can be very crammed at times but luckily because frequency is good there are other buses of the same route nearby. You don't have to work yourself up if one vehicle is crowded. If you are a tourist this is your bus to go to different points of interests all the way the way to Santa Monica beach. They no longer have the 920 because it is long gone. It is gone due to low ridership. I would ride this bus again is possible even with the cramming.

The Rapid 720 is the east-west artery that gets me from my residence near Beverly and Wilshire to most spots, especially Union Station downtown (via a connection at either the Wilshire/Western or Wilshire/Vermont Metro stations). There are lots of homeless and weirdos on this particular line, but you will get the hang of it once you ride it regularly. Until the Wilshire/Rodeo station opens in 2025, this is the best we've got. If anyone makes you uncomfortable, sit as close to the front of the bus and the driver as possible. The bus drivers are told to allow/ignore fare evaders, which I think is a foolish policy, but there's nothing I can do about that. The Rapid 920 was a super-limited service which they have since discontinued and are unlikely to resume given that they're building new stations as far west as the VA anyway. Download the Metro app if you haven't already. That allows you to know exactly when a bus is coming. Hey, it's not perfect, but it works.
