Day of, they texted and key me know they were an hour behind schedule getting started, which wasnt a big deal, I appreciated the communication. After they finished they had me do an inspection, however I had another obligation that I had to get to so didn't get the chance to do a deep walkthrough. After they left I started going through the place. yes, fan blades were dusted but the light fixtures themselves were not. The white trim baseboard was not wiped down or dusted. The floor was "mopped" but that was all. Any dirty spots were not scrubbed clean just wiped down. Vents were completely untouched and the washing machine was not wiped down at all. Since the move out cleaning I've spent 2 hours re cleaning and ill need to go back over today and spend another hour or two before it's completely done. Im by no means a clean freak but I do expect tenants to have a clean space to move into. This was my first time hiring a cleaning service and I learned a valuable lesson. You get what you pay for.

Extremely disappointing experience with A Step Up -- both the quality of the work and how they…read morehandled damage to my property afterward. Our 36-home HOA hired A Step Up to clean our dryer vents. When the crew arrived the first time, I spoke with them personally and watched them trying to figure out the equipment they had been given. The worker I photographed had a cordless drill, a flexible rod that appeared to be only about 4-5 feet long, and a small brush. Our dryer vents are approximately 4 inches in diameter and mine runs more than 30 feet. Several homeowners questioned whether their vents had actually been cleaned, and our HOA eventually had A Step Up return to redo the work. During the return visit, my security camera captured the crew handling their ladder behind my home. During that visit, a Mother Mary statue that had been in our family for more than 20 years was shattered. The pieces were simply piled behind my home. Nobody from the crew came to my door to tell me what happened or apologize. I immediately reported the damage to our HOA. A Step Up asked for permission to contact me directly, which I gave them. They never contacted me. A week later I followed up again and requested $155 to replace the statue. I still received no contact or reimbursement. To make matters worse, I photographed my dryer vent after their second cleaning attempt, and there was still a significant amount of lint/debris accumulated around the vent opening. I have photos and security-camera footage documenting the equipment used, the crew handling the ladder, the broken statue, and the condition of the vent after the second cleaning. Accidents happen. What matters is how a company responds when they happen. Coming to my door, acknowledging the damage, apologizing, and replacing a $155 statue would have gone a long way.
