We did the premium house cleaning and window wash with the 5 day window rain guarantee. I wasn't completely disappointed but I wasn't jumping up and down with amazement either. They had a "last minute" opening to get us in June 1st in the afternoon. I couldn't be home but they said usually you don't need to be anyways and could move forward. I was able to be home when they started but not finish. I let the gentleman know before he started I did have to leave. The mildew and algae was removed which was our biggest concern on the back of the house. Other then that I had very low expectations so it wasn't surprising to return home to see dried residue on the home or that there was still leaves, spiderwebs and debris stuck in some of the windows etc. I put a call into Tom and he explained some of the stuff that didn't come off was from the mulch and called artillery mold. I was under the assumption of the home needed some elbow grease they'd scrub or whatever they needed to do. He said this only comes of with your nail. He said they could come out and they do a rinse on the house to get rid of the marks that were dried residue. I also let home know it rained that night so since we had the 5 day window guarantee for rain we could just schedule and do it all at the same time. Scheduling and communication was more difficult to have them come back. I wasn't super impressed with their response time or followup. They showed up today, June 18th but I wasn't aware of when or if they were coming since there wasn't any followup communication. Most of the marks had washed away and he wasn't aware about the windows. The employee explained something that I'm sure makes sense to them that it wasn't actually a rain guarantee so I felt very misled and ripped off. He did clean a few windows that looked like they had debris that were missed originally on them and that was it. We also couldn't see the marks on the house because the sun hadn't yet moved to the backyard so he just hand wiped off a few spots instead of spraying down the house like Tom said they would. I would probably try another company before I had them out again. I was impressed with the green growing crap gone with the soft wash and hoping it doesn't come back quickly like their claim to fame. I booked an appointment for gutter cleaning at a quoted price in October. When the service person arrived he told me the amount would go from $129 to $199 because of vines. I declined and after he drove off removed the "vines" in 5 minutes. And I'm 74. I called their office to express my dissatisfaction and was given another appointment in mid November. The temperature was in the 30s on the rescheduled date so they cancelled. I was told they would reschedule me again for November 25th. I haven't heard from them again. Not an email or call to confirm or cancel. I've used A Step Up for a few years. Sorry to say their service is now deserving 0 stars! read more

These guys are great. We had the outside of our house cleaned, outside windows cleaned, and screens cleaned. All of it looks amazing. We have pressure washed our house ourselves in the past but always had a tough time reaching the peaks and underside of the high up gutters. I will 100% never do it myself again after such a great experience! Thomas and his crew were great. Exceptional communication! The day before our appointment we got a reminder email that included an overview of the services and the name and picture of the crew member coming out. This is the 4th year in a row that I have had A Step UP Window Cleaning do my windows . They did another excellent job this year. I have real high half moon windows in my foyer and living room and they get even in the corners. My windows are so clean it doesn't even look like there is glass in the them. A Step Up Window Cleaning in Lakeville, MN did an inexcusably poor job of power washing our house and windows and damaged plants with their cleaning product and damaged areas of the house with their ladder and power sprayer. The company did not perform the work listed in the bid or perform the work in a professional manner as advertised. Numerous emails with photos and specific questions were sent to the owner, Thomas McArthur. There has been no resolution to the several problems of poor workmanship, the damage to the house or plants, or answers to simple, straight forward questions about the bid work. No one in the office answered the phone when I called to get help from management while the workmen were still on the property and our concerns about the work kept mounting. A message was also sent via the company's website for, as they say, a quicker response. There was no response. Soapy water was left to dry on our front door and porch windows and became a dense, milky film for us to clean off. The company advertises complimentary screen cleaning with window cleaning and this was also described as part of the work by Kathy, in the office. The workmen tried to omit this work. My husband ended up assisting one workman to clean the metal rims, but the screen material was left for us to clean. There was no brush cleaning of any surface that could not be made clean with the power washer as described by Kathy from the office. In the one email back from Thomas he said that the men brush cleaned where algae and dirt remained after the power washing. An out right lie! This was one of our big problems with the work and why we needed to talk to the owner that day. Several other areas and a large section of the house was not even touched with the sprayer. Spiderwebs and dirt remain. The bid stated that the gutters would be "whitened/brightened." It was not done. The bid stated "walkways and driveway rinsed." It was not done. One workman did not act properly trained. He asked my husband how best to get the algae off from the house. I don't know what detergent they used, but it smelled like bleach, not lemons at all. Perhaps they used the detergent they advertise and it has bleach in it, I'm not sure. However, we were told by the office, and by the workman, that the detergent they use will not harm plants, but it did. The "soft wash method" was not used on all areas of the house. The power sprayer blew out chunks of wood from a wood support. Water was sprayed quickly over the remaining supports. No soap. No brush cleaning. All are still dirty. The other damage to our home was made by their ladder - a piece of window frame was broken off, a piece of siding was cracked, and the deck railing gouged and discolored. Thomas claimed that the house cleaning meant siding only - not the trim? not the porch? These were some of the questions I wanted him to clarify. The company advertises washing the house, not just the siding, so his advertising is confusing to me. I have never experienced that with other power washing companies where they cleaned all aspects of the house with windows being extra. The fact stills remains, though, several areas of just SIDING where left dirty by A Step Up company & other areas of just SIDING were completely omitted. What is advertised is different than what was described by the office person and different from what the workmen did and different from what is on the website and different from our bid and different from what Thomas indicated in his email. We are far from 100% satisfied - something also promised in the bid. In an email, we told the owner that we would work with him one more time and allow him the chance to make things right. Since, there has been no response to our emails and the numerous photos that we sent, we sought help through Home Advisor's Customer Solutions department for help in connecting with their member, Thomas McArthur, the owner of A Step Up Window Cleaning. Fourth time I have used A Step Up Window Cleaning. This year, I had the gutters cleaned as well as the windows. I also had the entire house washed along with the decks. Another great experience. Cost was reasonable considering how big the job. Chris and Nate did a great job on my home. No streaks on windows, no mess left even from the gutter cleaning (and the gutters were really full of gunk). Super nice guys. Worked very efficiently and they arrived and were done in the time frame they quoted. Everything looked fantastic. I'm very happy to have found a reliable company that does quality work and I will continue to use A Step Up Window Cleaning in the future. read more

I seldom write reviews and negative ones even less often, but my experience with this company leaves me no choice. This rating is based solely on customer service. They actually did a fine job washing our windows, although the cost was quite a bit more than we planned on. In haste to pay their final invoice, I failed to notice it was in error, resulting in an overpayment of about $60 ( on a total billing of $400+). Thus began the long and, as of this date 5 months later, still unsuccessful effort to get a refund. It took 2 months to get an acknowledgment that an error was made and a refund due. The amount was agreed to and prompt payment was promised. But none has come. Nor any response to a follow up inquiry. But I did receive a promotional mailing from them soliciting more business! Needless to say, I will not be using their services again and will not be recommending them to my neighbors or friends. You guys have to take better care of your customers than that! UPDATE: Since writing my original review, and perhaps as a result of it (?), I finally received my long overdue refund. As a result, I have raised my rating to 3 stars. The original mistake was mine, not theirs, and they did send a refund of my overpayment. On the other hand this took much longer than it should have, in my opinion. So three stars is the best I can do for now. I can recommend their work, however. They did a fine job cleaning my asphalt shingles and washing my windows. I will probably use them again. But I'll be sure I pay closer attention to the billing BEFORE I pay next time. read more

I scheduled them and they promised me they would do it for a certain dollar amount. When they came out they told me it would cost more. The company called me back within half an hour and said they would do it for that certain dollar amount but they had to reschedule. Rescheduled for today, same guy showed up and said I can't do it for that price. I will never use them. read more

I would definitely recommend A Step Up Window Cleaning. They've cleaned all 26 of our windows and screens thoroughly, power washed our whole house and the back fence. They are not only very professional, but also cheerful! We are moving out of the area and will miss having their services. read more
