Unhappy to learn I had to pay for an inspection a year later on the work they performed. I had a huge amount of work completed and now they are saying I need to have the firebox repaired due to cracks and mortar issue. I asked their inspector point blank why this wasn't addressed when I had other work done and his answer was "I don't know" after HE showed me photos from a year ago with the SAME cracks. The work done by chimney doctors Cole and Roosevelt in installing a vent cap on top of our faulty chimney and replacing most of the aging flue, down to the roof line, was first rate. They finished the entire job in one day, in hot weather, were very friendly, and went about their business from the moment they arrived at our house (as was pre-arranged with the company). I have positive things to say about the Chimney Doctors field staff and they easily deserve five stars. I am unhappy with the way the office handled problems when they came up so the resulting rating is two stars. Chimney Doctors hired an electrical subcontractor to run a circuit to a fireplace in my house. I wanted to discuss the route of the wiring with the electrician prior to work but I was told I couldn't. When the electrician was at my house and about to start working I finally was able to talk with him via phone. I was really surprised by the ugly and lazy wiring methods he wanted to use. I was clear about the wiring plan but he decided to do otherwise. I had no control over him, he was working for Chimney Doctors. I told Chimney Doctors the work was not as planned and unacceptable but they told me it was between me and their electrical subcontractor to figure things out. I did not want to pay their electrician to fix things based on my experience with them plus - I'm already paying them once to do the work. So I fixed the wiring myself. The part that seemed so hard for people who were hired to do the work took me five minutes to do and it looks infinitely better. I ended up doing work that I'm paying someone else to do but I'm also paying for additional materials and permit fees to fix their mistake. I also get to wait two more weeks for their work to (hopefully) finally get completed because we need to wait for the wiring fixes to be inspected. Meanwhile, they have five stages of unguarded scaffolding attached to my house (and the scaffolding is sitting mostly on my neighbor's lawn). There is a really gross feeling that comes with having no control over what other people are doing in your house. Plus, before work started I asked Chimney Doctors to give me a contract signed by both me and Chimney Doctors. They refused. Really? read more

I had masonry work done on my chimney summer 2021. My gas fireplace didn't work properly all winter 2021-22 despite service visits from Centerpoint, the original masonry contractor and other gas fireplace installers. No one could figure it out. Steve from Chimney Doctors made all the difference. During the single service call, he asked great questions and connected the dots to discover the masonry company had switched the exhaust with the air intake. In spite of the fact that it was a cold snap (around 10F), Steve made the correction which involved indoor and outdoor work, and my fireplace works great now. We are very unhappy with Chimney Doctors. The tech that came out tried to sell us on an entire flue replacement, saying we shouldn't use the fireplace as is. He also had the gall to say "and I wouldn't trust anyone else to replace it." It's only two years old. Second opinions, including from the manufacturer, showed that the chimney is perfectly fine to use. One said that the recommendation not to use the fireplace was appalling. Very poor experience. When we purchased our 1921 home, the fireplace flue needed relining and we selected chimney doctors. The owner at the time oversaw the job and commented that bricks had come loose during the install. We assumed this was part of the process until we had the chimney inspected a few years later. The inspector found a dangerous situation in that the bricks that had come loose were in the firebox, exposing the other gas exhaust flue. Essentially they made a hazardous situation worse. When we contacted chimney doctors, they came out promptly and confirmed the issue. They would address it, and then verbally quoted us a very high quote for the other work we needed, and then left. We never heard from them again and it's nearly 3 weeks later. At this point, I will pay for another company to perform the fix. Beware. read more

We had it resurfaced just to be safe for a fraction of the cost of what they wanted. Our service told us they have had other calls about this company doing the same thing. My husband and I recently bought our first house. We asked my aunt and uncle who they use to get their chimney cleaned and they recommended Air Pro Inc. They told us that they got really good service and we were intrigued. Then they told us the chimney guy wears a top hat and we knew this was the company for us. Unfortunately, our technician didn't wear a top hat. I guess its just the owner that does that. Once I got over that initial disappointment, I had a very good experience. Cale was our tech. I called on Thursday for a chimney cleaning estimate and had someone at my house at 10am on Friday. He arrived right on time, which is much appreciated! No "10-1 window" - we were told our appointment was at 10, and he arrived at 10 (if not a few minutes beforehand). He was nice, informative, and knowledgable. Caveat Emptor. We're in the process of selling our house and asked for an inspection. Their employee showed 2 photos of a couple of mortar joints with unevenly troweled spots and called them gaps, a couple of hairline cracks in the clay liner that is typical of the material and could have occurred before the house was built 50 years ago, and one legitimate repair need within reach from the top of the chimney. Their solution: tear down the chimney and re-line both flues for $10K. And they're 6 weeks out for work so expect the price to go up if you need it done sooner. Recommend calling Nick's Chimney of Richfield instead. Deal with the owner directly and get treated fairly. read more
