Basically, after 36 years with our first driveway, the one they installed has cracked in just 3 years. When they installed it I let them know that on the edge it was under an inch thick, (see before and after pics) Ieven drilled a hole to show him how thin it was. Ty said it would be fine. But in that very spot it has started to crack. (see pic). Now Ty sends me a photo and says, anything in that area isn't covered. (Photo with squiggly red lines) We were not given that photo at the time, just now when it started to crack. Nor was there any discussion of the tree at all during initial installation. When Ty and his crew came out I was excited to leave a good review so I took lots of photos and videos to include in the review. I'm glad I did. When I looked at the finished product i saw that on the edge it was less than an inch thick. I drilled a hole through to measure it. I let Ty know my concerns and he came out and said, it's not the thickness that matters but the preparation of the ground underneath. They may claim these cracks were caused by a tree close to it. (In 36 years that tree didn't cause any cracks.) They may even claim these cracks are directly next to the tree. (they are actually 12 feet away, see pic) The cracks aren't near the tree but are right where the asphalt was very thin as I suspected and told them. I am pretty surprised at their bending of the truth. He did offer to throw in a $50 crack sealer if I paid the full price, $200 for a seal coat but I can apply the sealer myself and wasn't interested in doing any more business with them. So here we are, with cracks growing larger. It started within the 3 year period. I've just hesitated to leave a review as I don't like writing negative ones and hoped to resolve the problem amicably. Alas, this warning is all I can offer. I wouldn't use them for your driveway. Call Plehal Blacktopping. They did a great job on my neighbor's driveway.
